My friends Uncle worked with him at the post office in the Bronx. It shocked him to know his coworker was that evil.
I think in the movie it shows him working at a post office
Oh my goodness I would think that would up set him.wow
Only killed a few people jeeeez🙄
OMG that must have been sooooooo
Terrible!!!!! 😳 I would have FREAKED OUT!!!!!
Was his name Newman by any chance?
I love old 70s footage, being a 70s kid. People had so much hair back then.
Years ago, I did a report about this guy. Both of my parents were kids when this happened.
I was a teenager in Minneapolis MN when Son of Sam was in the news. I still remember my dad sitting in his chair, reading his newspaper. He was a true crime fan (which is where I get it from). Little did I know I'd only have 5 more years with him. He died of cancer. 💔💔
It's awesome how you two can cram so much pertinent info, such detail, into a 19-20 minute video. I'm proud for and of you! I'd just turned 11 a few days before they caught Berkowitz, and even in northeastern Kentucky, the spree had been covered on local TV news. It wasn't until years later with the Waco ATF/Branch Davidians coverage, that local news began each broadcast with the latest update like they did with Berkowitz.
Well went you have 1/2 of it news stuff that's easy to do!
Hello from Tyler Texas!
Damn good video! You never disappoint

I remember Spike Lee’s 1999 film “Summer of Sam.” Fantastic film with fantastic cast and acting. Could really feel the tension and the fear of the neighbourhoods at that time
best movie from spike lee
One of his best:
1. Do The Right Thing
2. The 25th Hour
3. He Got Game
4. Malcolm X
5. Summer of Sam
@@Kthomasritchie Don't forget CLOCKERS
@@RazPerignon And Black Klansman.
@@Kthomasritchie Forgot Jungle Fever. Putting aside the forbidden interracial love thing for a moment, (Annabelle Scoria was amazing) its the best anti drug film ever made. And maybe Sam Jackson's best work, its the film that made his career.
When criminals would actually get locked up in NY.... I was a kid when this all went down. Thanks for all the footage. Good job you two. 🖤
The city was 100 times more dangerous back then tho.
@@bzd1983 Yes, It was more dangerous back then. I can attest to this because I lived in the Village on Bleecker Street, then in Hell's Kitchen after that.
@@bzd1983 fr getting away with murder in NY today is almost impossible
@@bzd1983 Do you have data to back that claim up?
im old enough to remember this ... America was in the midst of a serial killer epidemic!... from son o sam to hillside stranglers to the zodiac killer... strange times indeed.
the "summer of sam" movie captured the hysteria around that area
btw good job!.. i love seeing shots lined up, photos
Thank you. This was my time of high school. I lived in Pennsylvania but we were all scared. My parents asked me to not go out but to have my boyfriend over to the house because of these killings. Yes I had long dark hair. He had everyone shook up!
I lived on Warburton Ave, down the block from the Carrs, down the hill from where Berkowitz lived. They’ve change the name and number of the building. He didn’t do it alone. Why the different composites and why the mysterious deaths of the Carrs.
He did it alone. The Carr deaths were not mysterious.
@@mannygrossman , really? Funny how all the composites were different. Funny how some looked like the Carr brothers. No way he did it alone. I’ve watched every doc on the son of Sam murders. You probably believe Oswald shot Kennedy from all those angles with one rifle too. Try critical thinking. Common sense used to aid in that but since it ain’t common anymore 🤷🏽♀️
I only have 180 videos and counting on how every aspect of the cult story is a lie. Enjoy!! @@Watersart___
Curious if you ever watched any of my Maury debunking videos yet since you were so sure of yourself. @@Watersart___
Totally agree there were others as well. The cops just wanted to close the case.
Great video. I remember when this happened. Back then, we got 3 channels broadcast from NY, channels 5, 11 and 9 with the giant TV antenna on our roof before anyone had cable TV. The 70s seems like an entirely different world from today.
I can't help but tear up every time I hear that choir in your intro. I discovered it years ago and it has that effect on me every single time.
Yes I love it too.. Do you know the name so i can look it up?
You are right about the seventies, that there was an explosion. Los Angeles had twenty alone. Then there were guys like SOS. Really sad. Cool video again
Graduated high school in ‘77. I remember the story on tv and the papers.
in my junior year of college, one of the lead detectives on the Son of Sam case has a granddaughter who happened to be in my speech class at SJU on Long Islandc she did a presentation of her grandfather and showed us a famous letter the Son of Sam wrote to him. The story of the day he was arrested and the days leading up were incredibly chilling. awesome job guys!!
And for being as dangerous as he was, he had a rosy-cheeked babyface that other men in prison would have loved to 'go after.'
I recall this very well. I was a teenager in NJ at the time. Good old fashioned police work caught this kook.
I was in high school,I'm from Massachusetts, and we heard the news that night on our local news out of Boston. He's now a born again Christian and a reverend in the prison. Great work guys!
Another christian lunatic 😂
Thank you Grimm life collective for documenting this born in 75 I was only one or two years old👻👻🔥🔥
And ?? When people speak on age everybody gets uptight if you're an old head. 😂😂😂😂 btw you're 8 years older than me. Lol.
I was in high school at the time, and I lived in northern New Jersey right outside of New York City and I will tell you it was scary beyond description. Everybody was pretty scared and not that many people that I knew stayed out at night really good documentary and just brings chills and scary memories back, but I’m glad he was caught, I hope he never leaves prison. Thank you for another excellent documentary.
I remember there was a Netflix series called "The sons of sam" a couple of years ago that had a compelling argument that Berkowitz did not act alone. So, those people who also did the murders are still out there if they are not already dead.
No one else besides Berkowitz was involved in SOn of Sam
ryan h.....indeed,i think the evidence is overwhelming that david b did not act alone and also that he did not committ all the murders...an investigative journalist spent his life looking into the case...its very interesting to see where berkowitz is now,in terms of his life in jail.....
it may be, from when he began to murder until he was arrested 13 months pass, 13 is death by ritual, and it is masonic,
Yeah, uh.....it's pure speculation. The evidence pointed to Berkowitz being the sole killer. There is some evidence that David may have done other violent crimes,
or attempted thus, several years before the shootings, but, much of that was from his own alleged confessions or commentary, which is dubious to a massive
degree.
The alleged Satanic coven up at that park in Yonkers is also, totally fictitious and spurious.
I was 5 years old living in Flatbush Brooklyn during the Summer of '77. Even as a little kid I was fully aware of what was happening and I was SCARED. We ALL were.
I’ve been waiting for you guys to come to new york for the longest. I live in Queens and the terror that Son Of Sam brought here is crazy. These videos are gonna be great
Hey, yo, fuggin over here...
Seeing the old NYers feels like how I imagine hillbillies did when Deliverance came out.
I Remember seeing his last victim. She used to Visit these two twins upstairs from me. Didn't Know her. Just said hello in passing. Whole Neighborhood was on edge that summer..Was hot as hell that summer! I was 19 & will Never forget that time..God Bless 😊
Seeing as you're in New York, any chance you're going to do a video on the Tylenol killer? It happened in New York during the early 1980s. I believe it's unsolved.
Love your true crime episodes
So much research & knowledge put in
Looking forward to watching this later
Great video guys, I was 7 years old when he was caught but we lived in Baltimore and I remember seeing it on the tv at the time a lot of crazy things happened in the 70s good stuff Michael
Michael, and Jessica, you are doing such an incredible job with your true crime videos!!
I would LOVE you guys to do the Splitoro brothers burial site just outside of Enos Indiana. Anthony Spilitoro is the real person that Joe Pesci played in the Movie Casino. In the movie they beat them with bats and buried them in a corn feild. There are several "GrimmLifecollective" sites for that movie! Love you guys and what you do!
Your choice of music is very nice, you are honoring those taken from this world
I love the energy and unification of these teens in the beginning of the video

@@thevozz yes because then you have lawlessness and no order and society breaks down
@@joejones9520 I was talking about those wannabe vigilantes who talked about taking the law into their own hands and killing him themselves
Great video. There was an older Unsolved Mysteries episode analyzing the son of sam killings. They break it down and it looks like Berkowitz did not act alone. Really interesting.
He acted alone.
@@mannygrossman i guess you were there.

I love the clips of the local people talking, I wonder if there is still that accent there? Reminds me of the Shangri-las talking or the Ramones.
Love you guys! Please do more New York haunts/explorations. Sooo much history and supernatural events to document for us! New York loves GLC!!!
Hello from The Netherlands.
Aww yaaay! So cool to see y'all in my neck of the woods. I was also born in '79. I never really looked into this. Maybe now I might.
Back when the News was credible. Thanks for another amazing video. Keep up the great work!
You are absolutely killing (pun intended) it with your videos! Wonderful , original content that no one else is covering and a fantastic job of researching. The archival footage was incredible. You're absolutely one of the best vloggers on YT-keep up the good work.
Thanks for sharing! I find it exceedingly difficult and creepy to visit the murder scenes of victims in my own city. Fantastic job!
Another cracking video with lots of information and details of the locations of these tragic events. Superbly edited as always, Thank You for your hard work.
Fascinating video as usual. Every location/event is always of high interest. Love the vintage clips you always insert. Keep up the excellent history documentation, and happy Halloween 💀
Michael and Jessica I hope you know how much you and your channel means to us. Definitely my favorite and one of the best RUclips channels I've ever had the pleasure of watching. You guys are the best.
I love how you incorporated the beautiful haunting song 'Miserere Mei, Deus" while filming these drab areas of New York to tell yet another dark tale. Look forward to the next one. Happy Halloween 🎃
YESSSSSSS.... Suggested this to you a couple of months ago and you actually did it!! Wish i would have gotten to see you around town!!
You are so genuine, informative and respectful. This is my new favorite channel! Your research and dedication are much appreciated!
love your work...ill always watch as long as u keep pumping them out. 👍
Honestly I love this RUclips channel... you guy visit all the places I've been curious about... Keep up the amazing work
Wow !!! I just realised that I used to walk past the Carr house/garage every day to get the bus to Yonkers train station 😮
What an awesome video and as usual love your storytelling thank you Michael and Jessica
If you're still on the East coast you guys would love the haunted hospital in Staten Island and if you get up to North Port LI the story of Ricky Kasso is right up your alley.
I grew up on LI in Levittown and was in jr. high myself when the Kasso story broke. I know plenty about it these days, have read up on it extensively. I have been
up in Northport a lot the past five years or so, also. It's a very lovely area, nice town, very lovely summer destination. The whole Satanic metal bullshit angle
got blown beyond out of proportion after that case, what happened was you had a bunch of kids who were outcasts and abused and homeless (nearly),
and Kasso was a minor drug dealer and fuck up and basically his brain was rotting out, and they were all wacked out on heavy drugs and that led to him
killing this ex friend of theirs in the woods. A lot of kids then listened to metal, who gives a darn? I did, too. I didn't do meth acid and heroin and go kill
my friend. Fun fact: Jack Kerouac lived in Northport in a few different homes over several years in the 60s, and apparently he really enjoyed the place.
Great job guys, I lived in the area at this time, behind there was untermyer Park used to hear a lot of weird things going on there at night oh, too bad I didn't know you were in the area would love to meet you guys who do a great job on all your stuff
Very cool. My grandparents used to live at 470 Northbroadway
Did you ever see any evidence of satanic worship at the park. What years would you say you heard.
thankyou for another awesome video- love the true crime videos you do! and i know ive written this before but michael you have the best voice to listen to!!! i could listen to you all day! thankyou 🖤❣🖤
The documentary on Netflix was pretty well done I thought. Great video bro.

I just want to say I enjoy the history being shared here and especially the comment section and the stories the community shares, truly enjoyable.
Great video again , seeing the real life locations is fascinating. Thank you both you make a great couple and team. My favourite video you have done was of the Black Dahlia.
Another great video! Awesome to see the actual places.
Watched you for a couple of years and felt I needed to give you a little something. Love you both from Great Yarmouth, England x
Once again, your attention to detail is unbelievable. Very interesting video, I can remember the Son of Sam being on the news in the seventies even here in Holland (The Netherlands).
Wow! That was very informative. I didn't learn much about him at the time this all happened. I was a teen in so cal. And didn't watch much tv. Lol. He was weird , crazy. To say the least. My heart goes out to the victims and the family's they left behind.
Love the music selection.. Reminds me of one of my all time favorite albums : voce. Thank you for your great content!
Thank you for going to the places I can't anymore due to spinal issues. I love these video!! Keep them coming!
Thank you for sharing this. You brought a better light to this crime. Keep up the good work❤
Although I was not born when David was doing all the killing, this certainly did spike my interest and curiosity about the whole thing. Extremely sad all around. Loving the hair btw. Keep up the great content!!
You two keep hitting sixes. I want to tell you I watch your channel more than any other. Love from Manchester UK 🖤🖤
Growing up on LI and having family in Brooklyn. one of my first memories as a kid

Another great video! I remember that year well. My dad was a cop in the Bronx during that time. Besides Son of Sam, the city has the huge blackout with riots. At least the Yankees won the World Series in the fall. Happy Halloween!

As always another fantastic video. Keep up the fantastic work long time fan love from Ireland ☘️ 👏 👍
Such a good job you do on these vids..they are really mini documentaries. So well done. I lived in NY all my life and remember how terrified everyone was when this was going on. It's funny to hear how heavy all the NY accents are in the live interviews with people. You don't hear that as much these days.

Welcome to New York, GrimmLife! I remember this well....we would come straight from school and weren't allowed to be outside once it turned dusk. Very scary times. So cool that you covered "Son of Sam." Thanx for doing such a great job in the details and the areas/footage. Stay safe. Peace....Happy Halloween!
Fantabulous upload!! I've studied him for years among others and your upload is accurate, as always, and very interesting. Thank you ghouls! 🎃👻😈
One of the Brooklyn victims lived a few blocks away from me.
My mom lived near where he was killing in Mineola. She said they were always so scared and she thought her neighbor was the Son of Sam once, because he was throwing pebbles at the sewer drain, during a thunderstorm lol.
I grew up in Levittown LI and really we weren't near where he was killing, except he did do a few of the shootings in Queens, Forest Hills Gardens (2x) and then
in Bayside. The fear was that the killer would show up in Nassau or Suffolk next. I do recall everybody being terrified of this at the time, riled up by the media.
But I was all of eight when this was going on. A lot of people on my street were nervous that he would strike next out on LI. Unless that guy was shooting bullets
from his .44 at the drain, I doubt he was Son of Sam material! LOL
Yeah I was in Valley Stream. We were scared but no shootings on LI
@@Leash23 Gotcha, Valley Stream. Well, if you consider the shootings he did in Forest Hills Gardens and Bayside LI, he did in fact come out "east" a bit.
Remember this well. I am from the town this guy lived in and where he was caught. Love this channel.
Just gonna watch the summer of sam 1999 for the first time tonight and strangely I stumbled apon this video first!
I was in High-school when this happened. My Mom was a Criminal psychologist. Rest in Peace to them all
Over the Years and in a recent Netflix Series , the possibility of Berkowitz not being guilty of all the murders has been raised
Berkowitz acted completely solo in Son of Sam. Maury Terry was a master liar and manipulator.
Berkoeitz is a lone gunman lying psychopath
Berkowitz was as guilty as Hitler.
Watching him smile is so creepy! Great video as always 👍
We don't really know very much about this here in the UK. Great video👍
