Hehehe! And a Goth too! ♥ Thank you, my dear! Welcome to the Magic Crafter Family! ♥ Feel free to check out the 2019 year in review video to see some highlights from the year. ruclips.net/video/TrzxCFeXBKU/видео.html Thank you for watching! :)
Fake pockets are the worst! Excellent advice! It’s cool to see what other mermaids use, I always learn something new! I use a combo of drops and gel when I swim. Otherwise I just rock goggles as often as I can unless I’m performing or filming. Great video!
First time I opened my eyes underwater was in a hot tub, not turned on of course. Chlorine does sting faster than fresh water, so when I'm done I try to put drops in and not focus on anything too hard so they can rest. And yes, no matter what you do your vision will be distorted underwater if you open your eyes. Over time I've heard that you can learn to see around it, but it'll never be as clear as with a pair of goggles. When I swam with you I had to keep making sure I could see the silver of your tail because it was just a long shape. Same thing with the rocks.
An active hot tub would certainly be extra stingy! So glad it was off for you! 😅 That's a good point about resting your eyes after a swim.... never really thought of that before! Pfffttt!! That's okay, you were just a long red shape to me too, so I get it! 😆😂 I'm glad we were both able to maneuver around alright. You seemed to have a very good grasp of your surroundings. ♥
Only reason I didn't hit anything was because I try to swim with my arms in front of me. Something I learned from Courtney. In unfamiliar waters I try to keep at least one arm in front of me so if I hit something it's my hand and not my head. Once I get a little more used to where I am I'll move my arms to behind me. Yeah I still bash into things every now and then, but that's just a part of it. I'm super glad we never full on ran into each other, that would've been unfortunate.
I needed this when I swim in the ocean I close my eyes and that makes me hit a lot of stuff like coral and it hurts! Thank you for this Phantom!!! I also am a guppy with glasses which doesn't help me because when I swim after guppy school I usually hit the coral reef on my way out!!! It hurts and I will start opening my eyes thanks to your video Phantom!
Love this! I work for an eye doctor and this is the same regimen we often give patients to try. I personally love my warm compress mask and Refresh PM ointment. I've also had success with Lumify (for relieving redness) - but that one's a definite ask-your-doctor-first treatment. Keep up the great content!!!
Really? That's great to know then! YES!! The PM ointment is super soothing... and the warm compress mask can be quite relaxing! Sometimes I leave mine on for extra time because I like how it blocks out the light! 😆 I haven't heard of Lumify before, but I'll have to ask my doc about it next time I'm there! Thanks for the suggestion, Bryn! ♥
I use to swim with my eyes open when I was a guppy, but over time I messed up my vision so I wear glasses now. Back then I didn’t know anything about any form of water (I knew about salt water and fresh water in the lakes and rivers) could damage my eyes. So I’m like a blind mermaid without my glasses! Lol I did walk into a wall without my glasses and I had to hold my sister’s hand to guide me to my destination or have her go get my glasses, because half of the time I wake and not put my glasses on in the middle of the night or in the morning. Funny thing is that o can see in the dark very well, even without my glasses. So now I know and I do plan to get eye surgery in the future, because I’m getting tired of going to get new lens for my frames. Thank you for this video! A lot of info about this and I can’t wait to see your next video! 💋 🧜♀️
Oh no!!! Vision issues are the worst. 😢 Can you see alright with your glasses on though? Hopefully the day you can get surgery will come soon! Hang in there!
The Magic Crafter I can see with my glasses on. It’s just for years swimming with my eyes open just caused my vision to go bad. I didn’t get glasses til I turn 12 and the doctors didn’t asked, they just checked out my eyes and gave me glasses. After watching your video, it made me realized how my vision started going bad. I’ll never blame the water for ruining my eyes. I just blame myself for not realizing that in the first place. But you have to learn it the hard way to get it right
For me, I used to open my eyes underwater all the time, but a while ago (a few years maybe 3 or 4) I got an injury and my mother said that if I opened my eyes underwater, it would hurt a lot, and that scared me so I stopped permanently even when my eye healed and got out of habit. But I'm hoping to get up courage to try again
Yikes! I'm glad you're all healed up! However, I would *definitely* check with your eye doctor before opening your eyes underwater, given your past injury. ♥
@@TheMagicCrafter ya, although the injury was just me accidentally punched myself in the eye 😂 so I don't even know if it did that much damage to my eye itself in the first place (I didn't even get a black eye lol)
Sooo...I have trouble holding my breath underwater. I hold the air in my nose to keep the water out like everyone tells me, but it doesn't work! I end up coughing and sputtering - very unmermaidy. Any ideas?? Thanks!
Hmmm... have you ever heard of "Sinus Savers" before? They are clear plugs that you can put in your nose to help keep the water out. They are quite discreet and I've heard great things about them! Sorry for the *SUPER* late reply. I hope that helps you!!
This is the single most important video I've ever watched. I have chronic VERY dry eyes because I have Sjogrens syndrome. I'm miserable most of the time and have scars on my eyes. I use the single use drops, but a lot of the time that just doesn't cut it, so all the other tips are going to be extremely helpful. Especially the warm eye pacts. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I learned to dive when my brother helpfully pushed my head under a wave just because he used to be a bully when we were little. I feel like it should have been a terrible experience, but for some reason i came out of the experience thinking "wow this is a lot easier than i thought". Didnt take me long to try opening my eyes underwater. I never had a problem with the water stinging my eyes unless i keep diving around for a long time at once, or the pool im in has WAAY too much chlorine in it.
I don’t have a silicone tail. But I do have a fabric tail. With a pro mono fin. Does that not make me a mermaid? I don’t mean professional. I mean just for just mermaid. And I’ve been saving for a silicone tail. I really really want one. But for now my fabric will do. I love it so much anyway. And I just read in a blanket mermaid tail! And I love what you always have to say. Because you have been a lot of help I took your advice on holding your breath. And the eyes obviously. Thank you for being so amazing! I love your videos.
Aaahhhh!!! Amethyst!!! You are so, so sugar sweet!! Thanks, girl! ♥ I honestly look forward to the Friday afternoons so I can chat with you guys. Love having mermaid friends!! You lot are the best! 😍💖💕✨
if you really want to learn get into surfing in ocean salt water and you will so get use to it .....it wont even bother you and you wont need anything for your eyes .....i surf all the in puerto rico and the water is clear and salty so once you hit any type of water your already use to it
Why did I even click on this?! I already know how to open my eyes underwater in pools, oceans, and salt water! But these tips are amazing for people who don’t know how too
This is such great and thorough advice!!!! I will have to try the eye ointment for at night. So many people ask this question and it is so hard to give advice for every person. Also you are too cute! Thank you for your amazing content!!
I just wanted to say iv been using the eye drops and they help with my dry eyes soooo much I like that they don’t burn, I haven’t tried opening my eyes under water yet but just as a daily think they are amazing, I’m about to order the gel and try that with my contacts your the best
I've already decided that I'm going to be an inclusive Mermaid who wears Mermaid Glasses (Decorated Goggles) and a Nasal Saver because my eyes are already damaged and it'd be fun for people to see a Mermaid who wears glasses like them and the Nasal Saver since I can't stand water up my nose but also don't want to try to swim with a nose plugged by a hand. Having said that, these are really helpful for tips for those who want to look super "authentic" as Merfolk.
Thank you! It is an old video, so it probably could use an update. But I'm glad you found it informative. And good for you! I'm glad you've decided to forge your own path - nothing wrong with that 😊
@@TheMagicCrafter Would you happen to have any suggestions for marine life safe paints (I want to Mermaid out in nature or someday even at an aquarium and don't want to potentially harm any wild fronds) and decor for decorating things like tops, goggles, and jewelry making? I'm new to Mermaiding and just recently got my first ever tail and Monofin from Sun Tails (Fiji Red tail and a red Nunui Monofin) and am still trying to learn as many things as possible while waiting for the opportunity to arise to start practicing in my Monofin in a body of water deeper and wider than my bathtub. Been looking around at Mermaid Schools online and hoping to find myself a Pod to join but a bit worried about being judged for only going the fabric tail route. The Magic Crafter anywhere I can! but not lately because it's becoming winter here in Alaska:( oh, I got a new mermaid tail, it's ariel's dream finfolk fabric tail. it's probably not the best time of year to have gotten it though:(
You are correct!! I actually filmed this video back in April (it snow in April here). I only recently released it because I finally got the time to edit it. 😅
Hello Phantom, I love your channel, you have so many useful tips on being a mermaid. I've looked though the comments on this video and I don't think this question has been asked - do you use a combination of these products before, during and after a swim or are they used only after swimming? I wonder because I'm sort of limited to chlorinated pools and want to know if I should use a combo of drops/gels before swimming and then after I'm finished. Also, I'd need to drive to get home, so would I need to avoid using certain products before driving, or am I doomed to keep using goggles? Haha Thank you Phantom!
How can I become a personal mermaid with out going over budget on my tail fin and by the way I enjoy watching your channel but can you please send me a friend request on facebook that would make me so very happy thank you I dreamed of being a professional mermaid since I was just a little girl
Hi there! Have you watched this video series yet? It'll give you loads of information about becoming a mermaid! Fabric tails will be the best place to start if you are on a tight budget. :) ruclips.net/video/tl9jbs6ierQ/видео.html I don't use my Facebook much, especially not my personal one... But you can totally find me on Instagram @The_Magic_Crafter ♥
That does take some getting used to! If you aren't able to keep a pocket of air in your nose to prevent taking in water, you can get something called a "Sinus Saver" to keep the water out. I don't use them personally, but I've heard great things about them! They are basically clear nose plugs.
It is possible to do that, but do so with caution and at your own risk. If you chose to open your eyes in a tub, I would ensure that the tub is clean, does not contain soap/ shampoo and that the water is not too warm. Trust me... if your bath water is too warm, it can *REALLY* hurt when you open your eyes! 😅
Hmmm... I don't have experience with Swimmer's Ear personally, so I really can't speak on the topic. *HOWEVER!* I think you'll be happy to know that being a professional mermaid doesn't always mean getting wet. Most of my events are actually dry-land events that do not involve any swimming whatsoever (I don't do pool work due to my low vision... only open water). If you would like to do a lot of swimming as a professional mermaid, I would talk to your doctor about that and see what they have to say. But again... not matter the answer, you can still be a pro mermaid. It may just require some extra creativity!
It is from MerNation Inc. The NEW tail will actually be revealed tomorrow! Woot woot! 😇✨ If you'd like to see the new one, you can watch it at 3pm EST tomorrow here: ruclips.net/video/OI2HqhcBE0s/видео.html
this summer me and my cousin are doing a mermaid series on youtube but not a lot of mermaids wear goggles so i watched this video and it was really helpful
Hi there! Unfortunately, that is totally natural from what I understand (my eyes are always blurry, so I can't say for myself). If you want zero blur, your best bet is to wear googles, since those will help with a lot of that!
My eyes doesn't burn is salt water, for example when i was in sea it was super comfortable. But i got eye infection after, that wasn't comfortable. But in fresh and chlorine water they are burning like in freaking acid.
I would get yourself a monofin and try it out first (fin fun is a great safe one to start with). That way you know if you enjoy or feel comfortable with your feet bound together (and get the movement down / learn to be aware of the extra bulk behind you). You don't want to get an expensive tail only to find that you don't enjoy it or to scratch it up if you aren't spatially aware of it yet. I hope that makes sense? 🖤 Otherwise, just practice safety. Always swim with a buddy, keep one hand in front of you when swimming and avoid wavy water (waves will pull you around in a tail). And have fun 🥰🖤
@@TheMagicCrafter THANK YOU 😊 I’m getting a mono fin first and I’m going with fin fun! I’d like to learn to be a professional mermaid like you someday!
It isn't always easy being a mer, but it is possible! Hehehe! Have a look at this video, it will help offer you some guidance! ruclips.net/video/LKrlIcX1MGA/видео.html
You won't be able to see well in the water, since light is distributed differently underwater. Goggles should make your vision much better than if you were to swim without them though. :)

Haha
Thank you Phantom!

I don't use my Facebook much, especially not my personal one... But you can totally find me on Instagram @The_Magic_Crafter ♥
But this helps alot!!
I am so glad to hear that! Happy swimming!
How many days did it take for your mermaid tails to arrive
Lucky,u have snow
Snow is awesome! Although we get it 6 months out of the year, so it does get a bit annoying after a while! Hahahaha!
What about the nose??? I can't STAND the nasal flooding. Any tips or suggestions???
That does take some getting used to! If you aren't able to keep a pocket of air in your nose to prevent taking in water, you can get something called a "Sinus Saver" to keep the water out. I don't use them personally, but I've heard great things about them! They are basically clear nose plugs.
Nose blugs
Y’all I just want to try this for a music video underwater in my bathtub 😭👊🏽😔
Hehehee! Just make sure you don't put soap in the tub! Hahaha!
So is bath fine to open your eyes?
It is possible to do that, but do so with caution and at your own risk. If you chose to open your eyes in a tub, I would ensure that the tub is clean, does not contain soap/ shampoo and that the water is not too warm. Trust me... if your bath water is too warm, it can *REALLY* hurt when you open your eyes! 😅
love it
Hi I'm going to swim on wennsday thanks for the vid
Awesome!!! Have fun, girl!! 😇✨ Thanks for watching!!
Hey phantom, do you think you could do a make up tutorial on your normal look? Like in this vid?
For that ointment stuff would it work with using it before opening eyes in salt water?? I need to open my eyes when I surf and it burrrrnnnsss
You could certainly give it a try!
I have swimmer’s ear.....would that be a problem with being a professional mermaid?
Thank you so much The Magic Crafter this helps me a TON!!! ^^
Oof I have glasses and I always open my eyes and swim by the fishes while swimming in the ocean yet I never gave went to any doctors about it
How to open your eyes underwater
Step one: get in the waters
Step two: open your eyes. BAM DONE!
That is true! But proper eye care is essential if you hope to do so without damaging your eyes. Hahaha
gal.. youre so pretty o.o
Oh jeez! Thank you, dear!!!
About how much do professional mermaids make a year? I'm doing a project on what we want to be when we grow up and I really want to be a mermaid.
Not bad thanks hey❤❤🥰

I am a fresh water mermaid two!
this summer me and my cousin are doing a mermaid series on youtube but not a lot of mermaids wear goggles so i watched this video and it was really helpful
I'm glad you found it helpful! Thank you for watching it. :) Goodluck on your channel!
Hi so every time I open my eyes in the water it’s SOOOOO blurry how do I fix that?
I'm new
Hey there!! Welcome to the Magic Crafter family!! ♥
I’m getting my first tail soon and I’ve been practicing without the tail or mono fin. Any pointers?
I’d like to learn to be a professional mermaid like you someday!
lovley
Thank you, John! :)
How do you open your eyes underwater and chlorine water
You are so pretty!
I like your hair, by the way.
I wish I could do all this but I’m literally blind so I can’t see anything anyway
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that, dear.
You are so pretty
I really want to be a real life mermaid
It isn't always easy being a mer, but it is possible! Hehehe! Have a look at this video, it will help offer you some guidance! ruclips.net/video/LKrlIcX1MGA/видео.html
Maybe if you open your eyes in cold water then you will not hurt you not too though
That's very true! Warm water burns much more!
How do you be a mermaid
I am Trying to get results from Subliminals. Have any tips on how to get results faster? (Especially if I use Mermaid Transformation Subliminals)
You know what's weird fresh water and chlorine sting my eyes but saltwater doesn't burn my eyes as.much it's just makes my eyes feel cold
I want to be one
I can open my eyes in cloreine/clorine/clore/whatever that thing is water but I am stil practicing opening them in salt water
Hi
i just have trouble seeing in saltwater
You won't be able to see well in the water, since light is distributed differently underwater. Goggles should make your vision much better than if you were to swim without them though. :)
Eres hermosa
I lik be a mermaid
Mermaid life is awesome!!
