    Would have been so easy to go on letterman and just play a hit like "Jolene" or "trouble" especially when promoting the first album. But he chooses to play "Forever my friend" and just nails it!! That's what you gotta love about Ray. Respect.

    Ray has got to be one of the most unique people on this earth. I dont know a lot of people who know about him and i think he could touch a lot of lives if he were put out there more.

  • @hotroxjewelry1
    @hotroxjewelry1 13 лет назад +1

    There are very few artists that completely move me - to tears, actually. He is one and Damien Rice is another. I NEED to see him in person to feel the emotion and passion that exudes from him and affects me so profoundly.

  • @KuttyJoe
    @KuttyJoe 14 лет назад +1

    LOL He is absolutely nailing this live! I'm so used to seeing people butcher songs on Live TV that they can't really sing, but this guy is the real McCoy. It's been a very, very long time since I've found an artist that I can say I pretty much like all of their music. It might be time for a trip to a local CD store. It's been many years since I've felt the need to do that.

  • @romeo015
    @romeo015 14 лет назад

    @pac3ky The people who do cut their hair and facial hair and all this are just people whom want to glamorise music, which basically takes away the the true obligation first thought about which is to share music and enjoy it, not to look an oil painting for everyone. I see your point though just Ray is passionate about his music not all conscious on how he looks, which I think is what makes a true artist. When they stay real.

  • @redbird103
    @redbird103 14 лет назад

    @pac3ky That's part of his appeal, to me, if he were to cave into what others say he should do, i would be disappointed. I'm sure he will do just fine being the way he sees fit. Most of the bands and musicians i like dont look any more "clean cut" than ole Ray here and they have sold millions of albums, eg. Pink Floyd, Rush, and the list could go on forever. I just hope Ray stays true to what he is...any way, just my humble opinion....

  • @pac3ky
    @pac3ky 14 лет назад

    @jyoder21 Well, I just discovered this guy. LOVE his music. But I'm here to tell you (as a total music lover and a long-time groupie), that this guy could sell a lot more music if he would cut his hair, clean up his facial hair, and SMILE. (But, I'm off to the music store to buy his CD anyway!) For me, its the music.

  • @Crush1998
    @Crush1998 16 лет назад

    very well said...although i love the Beatles...but just because they had the greatest impact in music industry doesnt mean you have to like them...you respect their achievement but not everyone likes them..and great music has been made...and i would like to add one to your list Death lol Dave Matthews Band

  • @alessandroar2
    @alessandroar2 16 лет назад

    Agreed, he has an amazing voice and is amazing live... but I will say Damien Rice and Rocky Votolato are up there as well.
    This is the first time Ive actially ever SAW Ray Lamontagne... not how I pictured him, the beard is kinda scary. He is Hella talented tho.

  • @weisseguy25
    @weisseguy25 14 лет назад

    @pac3ky Or he could just keep being who he is, make his music, and let the chips fall where they may as far as sales are concerned. Somehow I don't think he would enjoy being the best selling musician around.

  • @romeo015
    @romeo015 14 лет назад

    After reading Ray's biography, I'm glad he sucked as a carpenter.
    He was born to do this...and he worked hard to find that out. He is an incredible artist.

  • @SIECKTWO

    I feel the same. On his album this song is mediocre, this live version sounds much better. It's nice to hear some modern music with real lyrics.

  • @blizzake86

    I agree on that, but then again, if he is mainstream it takes the "uniqueness" out of it, ya know? Then its too commercialized.
