I learned about you through Christian referring to it during the Albion Solstice release, so this interview kind of brings everything full circle. Love your music (and the amazing visuals that go with it).
Really liked this- just came out of my tiny studio-with my EPS sampler, Mark 1 Rhodes,Moog and Sony 6 head open reel around me to check email and got distracted by this video.......brilliant.......I went back all puffed up into that little space and exclaimed "OK- you old buggers- we are going to change the world today"
I really really love when two impressively skilled persons talk about their workflow ! This is the kind of stuff I could watch all day. Snakes of Russia is one of the most interesting producers right now . So much respect!!!
I’ve been waiting for this vid for so long! Thank you!!! Beautiful man. Two beautiful human men. Thank you for the heart, the soul, and the honesty. An inspiring healing human communication. Thank you so much. Really.
I loved this so much. The incredible gear and the smart conversation about music production was great, but I especially loved the real talk about life and mental health.
‘Discipline’ and ‘structure’ were key words here for me. I struggle with this, and found the conversation quite inspiring. Also the act of completion and letting things go, letting them out into the world. All that gear was good eye candy too - Christian, you too have cost me money, but it was worth it. I’m also starting to create in a much more external and analogue fashion. Thanks for this one - a great interview!
Couldn’t agree more. Life is hard. But Christian’s videos deliver so much more than what one might think. Such great human richness and ‘connection’. A total life and soul saver.
Discovered Snakes Of Russia thanks to you mentioning him a lot in the Albion Solstice's videos, been a huge fan ever since, this is literally a golden video! So cool to have a chance to step into his studio
@Frayle Band I just watched the Gods Of No Faith Remix video and saw a Bauhaus cover on yr page, both are very cool. It’s always good to see bands embracing the dark side of rock, metal or alternative. My wife & I met at a goth club in NYC in 1992 and I was in that scene as far back as 1985. It trends up and down, but goth never dies.
Brill - what a humble guy! Great call on 'Sound Design Friday's' too.. I normally get my teeth into sound design as a side effect of a specific brief, but love the idea of having a day carved out for it regardless! Thanks a lot for the inspiration Joseph! Keep doing what you're doing :D
I've been endlessly inspired as I've watched Snakes of Russia grow from Joseph's first posts. This is just one of the coolest musical projects out there.
What a great visit this was. He is inspiring, and shows you don't need a HUGE EXPENSIVE technically accurate room to make good music. Make use of what you have at where you are at. Thank You!
Great to see Joseph, I've wondered what he was like since Christian first mentioned him on his channel. He makes amazing music and seems like a lovely guy too.
Snakes of Russia has been one of my most played bands on Spotify in 2021/2022. There is so much energy in his tracks. As Christian said it's very difficult to figure out how he does the Sounddesign and I absolutely love it. Looking forward to a potential collaboration with SA or maybe pianobook. Great video.
What a fantastic session and so lucky to have had time to spend in person with the man himself. I have watched it twice already, so cool and Friday is now defo ‘Sound Design Friday’ I have taken in so much inspiration from this and so many new ideas. Thank you so much to both of you. Much love Gary
Great interview! I first heard Snakes of Russia as incidental music on Jamie Liddell's Hanging Out With Audiophiles podcast. What I heard blew me away.
You inspire me so much Joseph. Cool intimate studio. It’s great that you are in Pasadena. That’s my hometown town where I grew up and I first started making electronic music back in the mid 90’s. Now I’m in the valley. Thanks brother! 🖤💪🏼
What a great & kind fella Joseph seems. Quite surprised as somehow expected a darker kind of character behind 'Snakes of Russia' but shows you never to judge a book etc!
Scary how someone can remind you of yourself - and i am not talking music here. I mean the personal stuff COMBINED with all the art. Joseph, you must be my brother from another mother really… cheers mate! You are amazing! 🖤
The Lyra is such a Jeckyll & Hyde instrument. Unpredictable, with a mind of it's own. And likes to be in one of two states, strangely scary, ... or beautifully broken. Love it, it's the black sheep synth of my studio. If I want to really scare myself, I'll feed it into my Darkglass Hyperluminal into Alpha Omega, Green Russian fuzz into an Ampeg SVT. Or if I feel sad, feed it clean into a Walrus Sloer into UA FX Del-verb. Btw, it would be aweome if you could somehow get an earworm into Softube's ear about getting maybe a Snakes of Russia modded or chained Overstayer Modular into plugin form. Because not many of us can afford these. And the Softube Overstayer M.A.S., while awesome, is a bit too polite - so I haven't bought it yet. Thought about it during the sales, but I'm waiting on something gnarlier like your one.
Love the "fuck Pro Tools" sticker. I feel ya, there, mate! I think one of the good things about being out of the box is offsetting the load on your computer. Plugins are well and good until you're at a point of having tens of plugins across multiple busses, risking crashing your session when your working on potentially hundreds of tracks, and there's not many than get a £4K or £5K Mac Pro that can handle that kind of load. It has had me thinking recently about trying to do more stuff with hardware and re-amping as a result.
Christian - If you want music which will give you something to figure out, listen to some Xenakis and read his book Formalised Music. That will probably give you something to chew on for a while. Try using his book for really analysing one of his large scale works. It's quite illuminating to say the least!
Hi Christian, when you get a moment could you bug Reece and Steve and get them to release Season 7 of Inside No. 9 in the United States? My wife and I are anxiously awaiting it. (And they should also pay you a finder's fee, since I discovered Inside No. 9 through your channel).
If I could get in there and give it a good clean I would. I resort to using bin bags and monitor covers that came with packaging to cover my kit cus I can't do dust it winds me up. Still have to dust it though it will find a way through even bin bags but not as much.
Someone replied text me on telegram lol. I'm thinking satellite phone might be even more safe and encrypted cus that's how we won the Falklands War in my view. Sorry but I'm obsessed with my programs about stuff like that, and Spitfire Audio name is genius thinking.
This was so much fun. Thanks everyone for watching!
Congrats Joseph! Love your progression and its been awesome to know you for 15+ years.
@@Nynex yes my dude! Thanks
I only got into your music in the last couple years, but its amazing stuff.
I learned about you through Christian referring to it during the Albion Solstice release, so this interview kind of brings everything full circle. Love your music (and the amazing visuals that go with it).
So great to see you in your environment dude
Awesome. Can’t wait for the collaboration!

You are a superb, gracious and humble host Christian! Thank you so much for pimping my RUclips feed!! FANtastic! 🍻
Awesome! Love it!
Bloddy class this crib!

So great to see you visiting an artist like this. Gives hope to us all!
Incredible musician. Thank you Spitfire.
So great to see the crib! Love the chat as well! Awesome! 💀
This is awesome to see! Been a big fan of Joseph's work for a long time, and this is well deserved. Congratulations, friend!
Let's all do some Friday sound design! That's a great idea🙌
Nice one bro! Enjoyed that.
Thank you for this. A great discussion!
Thanks so much! 🔥🔥🔥
This was great! Stoked to have collaborated with Snakes and looking forward to more! 💀🔮

This was maybe my favorite interview. Thanks so much for doing these and what a great guy.
I've been endlessly inspired as I've watched Snakes of Russia grow from Joseph's first posts. This is just one of the coolest musical projects out there.
🖤
Oh this is so fitting! I discovered Snakes of Russia through Christian's channel.
What a great visit this was. He is inspiring, and shows you don't need a HUGE EXPENSIVE technically accurate room to make good music. Make use of what you have at where you are at. Thank You!

Love this tour. A realistic studio for a change. Please do more.

Amazing video. Fascinating insight and great to know the guy behind the music a bit more. Thanks a lot man, keep the music coming!!!

Love that. 🙏🏻
Great video! Thanx!!!! Two great guys having a wonderful conversation about music... Very inspiring!!!
Looking forward to a Snakes of Russia library. I know you can get this done, Christian!
🥴🥴🥴😍😍😍
He released a bunch of sample packs already, they are pretty sweet.
A very lucky guy.
Snakes Of Russia rules! And Joseph rules! Love all the dope gear!
Awesome. Joseph's a good friend and colleague. So deserved. Great feature with Christian. Both heroes in one video 🙏
Glad to see this. Nice guy.
You made me into modular world, gave me some advice and manuals, wouldn’t be so much into electronic music without you ! Thanks again !
Great interview! I first heard Snakes of Russia as incidental music on Jamie Liddell's Hanging Out With Audiophiles podcast. What I heard blew me away.
Great watch.
Fantastic!!!
Such a talent and an incredible person
What a lovely guy and a great personal writing space. Thanks for doing this!
My first sampler was a Korg DSS-1; second was the original Ensoniq EPS. Definitely developed some muscle memory with that one.
His voice sounds almost exactly like Jon Favreau’s! Haha. Amazing video.

This was a great one! Thanks for doing these! Hopefully a Snakes of Russia instrument/Spitfire collab is on its way!
Great interview! Joe's setup inspired some of my workflow, like the XVI fader bank! 👊😎
Love this. Glad you and the Labs team introduced me to Snakes of Russia last visit.
There are some you see glow !
Great to see how your awesome noise is made 👍
Thanks both of you for your time! :)
Love it. Thanks for sharing ✌🏼
Cool

Great video, would also like to hear more into the video work as well, music is fantastic and the video work is incredible
Great bit of kit. I love watching cribs, but I hate it too lol

Yep... Bitwig for me since it came out.

Seeing room 2 would have been nice

Christian: "The PUSH looks like it gets some use" Translation: that thing is filthy mate, you might wanna clean it.
just for ur info: Lyra was created in Russia by engineer from Donbass. Vlad Kreimer left Donbass in 2015. Current world crisis begins in 2014 !
The overstayer is ‘the ring’ of the audio world once you hear one you become consumed by it until your bank account dies.
4:21 MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!!
3:14 "Ekdahl Mosturizer" I'm trying to figure out what it's supposed to mean, but the only thing that comes up has a Parental Advisory sticker on it.

dear universe: please stop convincing me to buy an overstayer modular channel and a minimoog. thank you

:)
I'm kind of disappointed. I always assumed SoR was a mad Rasputin Russian type character.
Странно, почему Змеи России, а не Медведи?
