  • Miami, Florida has some really rough areas in it! Known for its beautiful beaches, weather, and night life Miami is certainly an awesome place. However, it certainly has its bad areas. Crime, poverty, abandoned businesses and homes are something that plagues the city as it continues to try and improve. Miami has a staggering poverty level of over 27%, and an unemployment rate of almost 6%. The median household income is around 31,000 dollars. I drove through some of the worst neighborhoods impacted by this, let's take a look!

    I remember watching a movie when I was a teenager, where most of the city was a slum, but the rich people lived in massive high-rises that overlooked all of the slums. I thought it was kind of ridiculous at the time, but now it feels like thats what every city in Canada and America are turning into

    That's Miami, alright. Everybody thinks of the beaches and high-rises, but don't know about the other side of the coin. Now, bad things happen in the good parts, too. Good neighborhoods, bad neighborhoods don't apply anymore

    Yep, I've seen this with my own eyes, this is mainly North Miami, but then he got down to the Club Space area which is getting gentrified as we speak, there's big money coming to these areas which scares me, because that's going to push them up to my area in Pembroke Pines!

    Not too bad, in the shadows of expensive high rises.Not a lot of trash, and someone planted trees in front of the abandoned apartment building, with some new construction happening ; maybe this area is due for gentrification? Or maybe affordable housing.

      These boarded up homes was government homes for the poor based on income
      But the government stopped funding years ago for these communities
      It’s happened all over the USA
      Rich property developers have bought up a lot of them and building unaffordable properties on them
      They were Public Housing Projects
      As you can see some are still occupied
      But most are boarded up now

    • @tayzonday
      @tayzonday 9 месяцев назад +6

      I think those are just multifamily apartment/townhome buildings. A lot of housing on American military bases is in poor condition, which is also an issue.

    I’m glad Austin TX isn’t like this. Gentrification is happening like wildfire here. They recently bulldozed a low income apartment complex which surprisingly was kept really clean and I’m not sure what they’re going to do with that land as there are no signs just yet.
