This video shows a suggestion on how to install Extra light - a Ledbar - with the XBB Dongle and a XBB SmartButton on a Hyundai Ioniq 5. We have checked and tested the recipe already, and it works for the Ioniq 5 AWD/RWD.
Yes, we know that the pictures switches fast - but you are allowed to press "Pause" and "Play" when doing the installation😉.
It's recommended that you download and activate the App before starting.
And if you want to save some time before doing the work on your car you can do the XBB PowerUnit and cable connection upfront.
The XBB Dongle must always be connected to the OBD in order to get the LEDbar to “communicate” with the car’s Canbus signal to highbeam. If you need the OBD for other purposes you can remove the XBB dongle and set it back afterwards.
If you need the OBD for other purposes simultaneously you can buy a Y-splitter.
The XBB SmartButton gives you the opportunity to switch the Ledbar ON/OFF when you have selected the Highbeam on. This can be a good help when driving in Fog or Snowy weather and the light from the Ledbar reflects and/or blinds you.
Remember that you need to press the XBB SmartButton again to activate the Ledbar if you have used the XBB SmartButton for turning the Ledbar off during driving with Highbeam on.
Please visit XBB for more info.

If this video inspires you to try the same installation on other models/cars it's necesarry to install the XBB Dongle first and check if the recipe works on the specific model/car brand.
This can be done by looking and testing all the signals from Canbus to XBB Dongle in the XBB Configurator App.

    Hi, nice work!
The dongle need to be always connected in the OBD after installation?
Does the led bar light on when car high beam lever is selected?
What is the use of the smart button for?

      Good question’s!
Yes, the Dongle must always be connected in order to get the LED-bar “communicate” with the car’s signal to high beam. If you need the OBD for other purposes you can remove the dongle and set it back afterwards.
If you need the OBD for other purpose simultaneously you can buy a Y-splitter.
The LED-bar will follow the high beam lever selection combined with your last questions.
The SmartButton gives you the opportunity to select the LED-bar ON/OFF when you has selected the High Beam on. This can be a good help when driving in Fog or snow weather and the light from LED-bar reflects and blinding you.
      I’ll will update the description.
      Thank you.

Thanks for the guide! Helped a lot. Had hard time figuring out where to pass through the plug under the cloth to radiator area, as there was no holes. There was a cable tray where I managed the push the cable through. (MY22)

This video is fantastic, thank you so much. Do you think that the install on an EV6 would be the same?

    •  Год назад +1

I do think so. Pls ask in a EV6 group on Facebook

@Roald Jungård Thanks Roald, I've ordered a lazerlamps linear elite 18 and the xbb kit. Looking forward to installing them as the lights on my EV6 Earth model are very disappointing. Great car, but the lights are nowhere near good enough unfortunately.
