For the record, you can just use regular all-purpose flour with the eggs to make homemade noodles. No need to sacrifice dry spaghetti unless you just really need to hear those sweet blender grinds.
Honestly that extra pointless step has me confused. It is literally easier to make fresh pasta if you want that. You buy pre-made pasta to REDUCE your prep time, since most people can't dedicate lots of time to cooking.
That one had me confused. Perhaps they like the taste of the dry pasta better but then why not just cook it from the pack? Was it the extra thickness? Dry pasta is pretty much just semolina which can be bought in flour form from your local grocery store and it's most likely cheaper since you aren't paying for the extra process of turning it into pasta. The extra step of ruining your blender is completely and wholly unnecessary.

I know Britain is often mocked for not using seasoning in anything....But that shepherd's pie is an insult and for the pasta, I felt that anyone Italian, has relatives or is distantly Italian was having a heart attack and aneurism watching that pasta. Mad respect to FunkyFrog for not only sacrifice their body and soul for this vid.....but also their kitchen. That kitchen was violated.
The visceral reaction I had when she said it was supposed to be shepherd's pie! I know how the Italians felt seeing the pasta being defiled in the first recipe. Like, there's so much wrong with it, but for starters... do they not realise there's no pastry involved in a shepherd's pie? Omg I'm still gagging at the pringle mush. Some people should be banned from the kitchen. The originals have to be some kind of rage bait, right?
As someone who lives for years in the UK, it’s a complete stereotype that UK don’t use seasoning. Herbs and spices are regularly used and Brits love their curry - the spicier the better. I shudder more at white US people and their cooking far more. They use waaaay too much fat and cheese. Also, I showed the “shepard’s pie”!portion to my northern MIL and she looked like she was ready to reenact the war of 1812 because of that bastardisation.
"HE'S EATING THE SPAGHETTI!" at the cat is so accurate I had flashbacks to fighting my own void kitty for pasta. He went SO HARD for noodles. A carbowhore if you will.
i turned my back on the full colander of freshly boiled noodles for two seconds and looked back to see my void cat, on the counter, taking a huge chomp out of the pile of noodles
The fact that you offered your questionable cooking to CANADIAN GEESE of all things just indicates how MASSIVE your metaphorical brass is. I salute you funkyfrogbait.
I literally screamed in horror when she blended the dry pasta, showed my Italian mother the clip, to which she just softly in shock went “vergongnosa…” hearin her say she was making pasta from scratch actually left me shaking. Thank you for your service Chef Cali 😂❤ Edit: to anyone mentioning they/them, I was referring to the original woman who made the video, not cali- but I appreciate that so many people are willing to gently correct someone if it was a mistake! /gen -- a genderless goblin who writes things out very literally without proofreading sometimes
As an non-Italian, I still had to pause and process what was happening. Like...why bother either A) buying pre-made pasta to blend or B) just not make it from scratch?
I've accidentally bought a type of pasta that's way too big for my mouth, I just HATE the texture. This might actually be something I'd try to not waste this bag of pasta 😂
Chef here: Dude those are the beefiest "fettuccine" ive ever seen 💀💀 gotta roll it out thin, sprinkle an VERY light, even layer of flour, fold it on top of the floured part and cut it from there. That being said: the fact that the pasta survived the water is a feat of human kind. SLAY!
They're already taking a big risk rolling them out at all, with how sandy the blended dry pasta dough is gonna be. A little more and it's gonna straight up crumble.
I am Italian and the way my spine contorts when I hear the strapping of pasta is legitimately painful and it isn’t something I do for effect, it is an actual physical reaction to the sound
Your ability to find new and creative ways to adequately describe the atrocities you experience is truly awe inspiring. Thank you for using your great talent for such absurd topics. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I’ve made pasta before in class. The first sign was the fact she didn’t flatten it enough. The second sign was everything else. That is a monstrosity and I’m concerned why you put yourself through that, Funky
3:18 this is actually so silly to me because this is more work to make not-fresh “fresh pasta” when making fresh pasta is literally just mixing flour and egg. 😭
I would still rather eat literally any of these than take a bite of bread "pudding" (Which are just bread cups, btw. Idk why they call it pudding when it's not.)
frog's moral compass being so good that they managed to keep these attrocities in their fridge for a few days instead of just throwing them away is genuinely the most impressive thing i've ever seen. wasting food is bad but i promise those dishes are worth throwing out lol

i genuinely think this is one of the funniest commentary channels on youtube right now. making tiktok recipes could easily be a really basic, overdone topic, but they manage to make it absolutely hilarious and keep my attention the whole time!
what's amazing is that fresh pasta dough actually has less steps and is less horrifying than putting dry processed pasta into a blender and taking years off of every Italian person's lifespan. also shout out to every camera person behind the screen just saying things like "oh woowww" "that's amazing!" "so cool!"
and it is so unbelievable senseless, like blended up pasta is basically hydrated then dehydrated flour, so its like flour to noodles to flour to noodles, wtf
As a Brit who grew up with shepherds pie as my favourite meal, I'm pretty sure a chunk of my soul disintegrated when cali said that the monstrosity on that counter was supposed to be shepherds pie. For those who aren't aware, Shepherds pie is not really a pie and does not have any crust and pretty much always has lamb used as the meat (hence the name Shepherds pie). All it should have is ground meat (usually lamb) mixed with some veg and mash potato on top. THAT IS IT.
I felt the same way when watching this for the first time. I wanted to explode like the "shepherds pie" when seeing it for the first time and finding out what it was supposed to be.

@ulhi7564 it's, like, a subset of a bimbo fetish, if I understand correctly. Really dumb recipes made by lovely women who don't remove any of their jewelry & who are acting all confident while usually being terrible at what they are doing & often making a huge mess. They are also usually doing all of this for a man behind the camera which plays into a domestic/control type of fetish too. I don't really understand it, but... yeah. Usually it's fetish content.
This was simultaneously disturbing and hilarious. You are very brave. No level of munchies-induced experimentation would get me to make that pringles thing.
If I had a nickel for every time Frog lost their mind in the kitchen, I'd have 3 nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened more than once.
Practical cooking tip for beginners, always put pies on a sheet tray. It's easier to get the pie tin out if you don't need to grab it directly. If the pie overflows, you don't need to clean the bottom of your oven. Related to last one, if you manage to just grab the frozen pie crust, but not the pie tin, the mess it makes when it thaws and collapses is contained.

Thx, Now I can torture chickpeas and use their ground-up innards to make pasta! :D
@@echopeak5953@echopeak5953 growing up I used to ask people whenever I would go over to their house. Where is your line? Line? You know? To hang your pasta on. Of course my mother would always cook a lot so we had a few lines. Pretty smart system. She glued a heavy duty magnet and a hook. And she'd pull her line across the kitchen.
I thought everyone had them in their home.. My friend's mom had dry pasta.. It was the first time I had ever had it.
They thought I was crazy. No. Why would they think I was mentally ill I thought?.. gnocchi and spaghetti tortellini.. fussilli Which is a twisted pasta..tagliatelle a flatter noodle. Like a linguine. All was made by hand.. And you're right it's so easy to make..
Even the lasagna strips.
I'm so happy and grateful for the way that I grew up. .. from my uncle's farm. To my other cousin's farms. To my great-grandfather's Italian pastry shop. For all the hard work every family member put into every meal. My first marinade... I had it down pat with meatballs by 11. Chef's kiss.
And I nailed my focaccia and my sourdough by 8 years old. My husband when he met me. And found out that I could cook. First meal I made him. Herb-crusted veal with a mustard cream sauce. Smash garlic potatoes. Grilled veggies. He thought I bought it for my restaurant.😅
He made a really nice rule. If you cook I'll do dishes. If I cook you do dishes. He started cooking and I never said anything. I got tired of eating the same flavor profile with different proteins. But it was nice while it lasted. He went on strike That was 23 years ago.😅
I must admit. He's revisited cooking. Boy he didn't get back on the bike well on that. Nope forgot how to ride a bike. How to cook. It's okay. I'd rather eat my food.😂😂😂😂
It shocks me today how people really don't know the fundamentals of cooking and how simple it is..
One thing I did within cooking in my home. As much variety as possible. Of course we had our favorites. But... There's so much to eat around the world. So many delicious recipes. My mother kept it conglomerated. I love the valleys and peaks of the world's food. Each one mirroring each other. Different ways different varieties.. A tweak here and a tweak there and you have a whole new world. I love cooking. It is the one thing that you can bring people together. And if it's a good meal. No one is talking everyone is just eating. Makes a chef happy. Of course there could be talking. But when a meal is incredible. Normally people are quiet😂😂😂😂. I must say my son has a very refined high palette. And I'm glad I've raised him that way. Good protein fats. Sadly expensive but good grain. Good milk good cheeses. Good tomatoes. Good anchovies. Food. It is what bonds us together. Brings us together for those laughs. For the tears. For the years and years, it binds us. With family friends and even strangers. It is one commonality that I find so soothing.
And as an Italian. You can't come to my house without me feeding you.. No questions asked. If you say it smells good. And you walk in and it's lunch or dinner. I will serve you. Service to others. Something humanity needs to do a little more..
I guarantee it's coming soon. Yes I think that is coming soon. Cuz where this world is going. We need each other more now than we ever have in our own lifetime. Young middle-aged and old. Especially against this oligarch bully AI don't worry AI will do all our jobs. Make your games. Make your movies. Sing your songs. Write your papers. You don't even have to exist.
