I met John Frusciante's dad one night when he pulled up in a rockin' Mercedes RV to check out a truck I was selling at my car lot. This man is a gentleman and a scholar! He is a classical music master, too. My son, James, loves Frusciante! I asked his father if I could call him to tell him that his father is here. He humbly said YES. Can you believe that!? So, I call my son and put John Frusciante's dad (retired judge) on the phone. He spent at least twenty minutes on the phone with my son! I will never forget that moment!

It is in the album, just as a bonus track on Japan deluxe edition, as well as on day one editions

@@marcysai146 The official tracklist for Return of The Dream Canteen does not include The Shape I'm Taking. It's noted as a bonus track on certain versions, but it's not officially a track on the album. I guess it doesn't really matter nowadays, what with streaming and digital playlists.

RHCP is part of my life and my story, it's like a piece of me....The songs connect with me and my daily walk....There have been many good moments, when I want to be alone and relax with a cold beer the first thing I do is put on their songs, I've been listening to them since the 90s, my youngest son is 5 years old and can already sing most of the songs! I'm very proud to leave this wonderful sound of the band to him....😃🎸🎼🎵🎶

I first saw this band for rhe first time when they were nothing. In a bar. The energy, the music. All amazing. Right there, I knew they would be great. My favorite band. I am 60 and I still love them.

Fantastic song in so many ways. Funky, melodic, great lyrics, and another memorable chorus. I was already singing along before the end of the 1st listen. These guys just can't stop making great music.

@@isey4482 It's such a "feelgood-song" as well. I realise that what I'm going to say sounds awfully cliché but I'll do it anyway: The ability of music to connect on the deepest level with your emotions and either help you get through things or cheer you up is a blessing that cannot be measured.
who cares if its not on the album, we're not selling cds anymore... they recorded more than 100 songs with Frusciante since his return, there are plenty more good ones to be released
@@jwdw9745 Agree with everything, and especially about the feel-good part. I feel the same ; that song puts me in a sweetly optimistic mood, especially the chorus. That part feels like a friend patting me on the back and telling me "cheer up and go on, everything's gonna be fine". Can't explain why; I just feel that way.
Also, this song reminds me of the 90s, and conjures up memories of my youth at that time. That may have something to do with the lyrics, and melodic/instrumental elements a noob like me cannot fully grasp 😂
Long story short: this song gives me plenty of feels. Every RHCP song does, but this one even more than others 🤩
