There is a growing idea in the modern world that humans have no soul, that we are programmable machines or "hackable animals" according to Yuval Noah Harari. But are these things true? Paul Chek looks across various religions, cultures and philosophers for an answer. Carl Jung stated, "In order for something to be rejected, it must first be real."

I recently got a message from Paul Chek asking if he could use my art to introduce this topic. I liked his edit so much that I figured it would be beneficial to share it here. What are your thoughts on the soul? Can it be defined? Do we have a soul? Is there a God?
The soul is consciousness and awareness that connects us all. My soul challenges me to transcend separation between people and love them (like a Russian or Ukrainian and Palestinian or Jewish person) equally. My soul makes bridges that our dual world likes to break (like Baltimore bridge) to create more confusion and illusion.

Paul's words of the soul and spirit are spot on. I would add that the soul comes from divine spirit, and spirit is the breath and light that sparks or animates life. It seems to me that without a soul we would have no emotions or purpose for life.
Life is: Love, Wisdom, Will, Vibration, Energy, and Matter.
In Human Design 99% of humans are Soul Beings and 1% Spirit Beings.
@@annreeray2598 I'm not getting where the human which would be the dense matter or body is in your percentages of what you are calling "human design" The spirit and soul is the essence of the body, and the body is the human or mortal matter of human life. So spirit and soul would be the eternal life.

I've been of the belief that we are all of the same animated life force that permeates nature. What I could call my soul craves nature, the wilderness, and animal connection. Even in animals, I see the soul and feel a profound connection with them.

You are correct. I did not imply otherwise.
That answer to your question is simply that "you are NOT." Without a soul, there is no 'I' and without an 'I' there is no capacity for conscious perception.
That said, there are other perspectives, which are outlined by Rudolf Steiner, as well as Jean Charon, author of "The Unknown Spirit"; Charon was a colleague of Albert Einstein, and his book shows some very good speculation on the fact that electrons are conscious, and that consciousness (en-soulement) is ubiquitous. To this consideration, Steiner stated in his teachings on the soul that "anything with an inside and an outside has a soul"...so there is another perspective....
To go one step deeper, which I did touch on, there is no such thing as a soul "without a spirit" and the proper term for soul is actually "spirit-soul"; spirit is the animating force - the flow of energy and information (mind) and soul is "what is having the experience"... The shaman's drum analogy I gave in the video addresses this directly.

@@PaulChekLive I still think it’s missing the point to speak of a soul as something outside of self.
I have an arm and if I lose that arm, I’m still here. I just lost some physical function. But I don’t see where I can lose my soul because that IS me. I’ve never seen anyone speak as though they themselves are the soul speaking. They keep talking in terms of the soul being a possession. So if I’m not the body and not the soul, who am I?
Theological people will talk about their souls going to heaven or hell. Ok, what about the one who is speaking this? Where does that voice go after death of the body? In my view, they are the soul. The one speaking is the soul.
Now, I’ve also come to see that the body speaks, too. My simple model is that the human being is like a horse and a rider. The soul is the rider. The human body is the horse and is heavily scripted by instinct. My saddle as the soul is in the brain of the animal. My inner dialogue often is the chatting between me and the animal person. And so on.
Further, child rearing is two jobs. One job is to domesticate the animal and the other is to teach the soul how to care for and lead the body, and to respect the boundaries of other souls and their bodies.
Without this education, without the soul become intelligent, instinct serves as the base operating system for the life of the animal and the end result is “survival of the fittest”. So where you see the least education, you see the most animal behavior in human beings.
A wise soul meets the instinctual needs of the animal before the animal is triggered by instinct to go hunting….hunting for food, water, security or sex. Everyone has the capacity to become a predator due to instinct and everyone can learn how to meet these needs before the hunger strikes.
This predator nature is one form of evil that we can never get rid of except to live intelligently, preventing the hunger. So the theological people fighting satan and whatnot don’t see that a source of “evil” is actually their own ignorance that leads to their body animal becoming desperate for a biological, non-negotiable need.
What if you are the source of souls, but you have purposefully forgotten about it and now you identify with only one of them?
@@adamjona98 I think we each are souls, perhaps able to split in two or more in order to create soulmates. Then incarnate and find each other.
@@ronsouther Do you think it's possible for a being to possess multiple perspectives at once, breaking it's own consciousness into pieces, letting go of the knowledge that they are part of the whole and that they are still connected but do not act in perfect unison? Can it be that a soul is one kind of specialised consciousness, emerging from totality and falling back into it when it is no longer possible for to keep form, depending on the level of separation it has gone through, while still having a cord with the center for maintainance?

I love Carl Jung, but that quote from him is absurdity. Does this make sense to anyone: "for the flat Earth to be rejected, it must first be real"?
Well, it has to be at least _conceivable,_ but I don’t know what Jung’s philosophical suppositions are. I think the issue is that if we were truly just biological robots, why would we ever think otherwise, and why would the issue of a soul even be a question?

one must take Jung's quote in the context in which he gave it, which was a direct address to the issue of atheism.
Hopefully, that provides the necessary clarification of "context" and without proper context, we cannot make "meaning"...
Additionally,
Regarding the Flat Earth Theory, the quote holds because "for a theory to be rejected, it must first be real" and obviously it is real (to some people) or you wouldn't have brought it up here.
