When I was in high school, after years of classical piano training, I got myself a fake book and Misty was the first tune I learned. It was all vanilla voicings and I probably based all I knew of that song on the Jonny Mathis version I heard on the radio but I did my best! Watching this has forced me to re-engage this tune with some of your harmonic and voicing ideas. Thank you for taking the time to walk through this in slow motion! I'm playing along with you!
I actually liked that intro "Misty On Broadway" rendition - It was different vs the usual ballad style...would be great to do tutorials on that style on jazz standards! Great lesson as well!!
I learn and enjoy so much from watching these videos. I started playing Misty recently and realized that I was using block chords, but something was missing. I think they were lacking flavor, and now I’ve figured out what it was. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Great compliments for Jeremy Siskind! Nice to hear. Don’t think there’s any competition! If anything the real day to day competitions are between who you were yesterday, and who you will be today 😅
I think this one ismy favorite! Thanks for such an in depth approach. It will take a few days on this one. I can hardly keep up with you! Another favorite is a Jimmy Van Heusen song, Polkadots and Moonbeams! But only when you get the time. I know you can do wonders with it, especially the bridge!
Those introductory bars scared me. Relieved it was a joke.

¡A ti, Naturaleza Herida!
Por ese cauce azul|
y hondo del rio|
puede al suelo| mansamente|
una gota de rocio|
caer desfallecida|
Y tambien| el nardo puro|
extraviar|
su blanca vida|
al expirar|
la lumbre del estio|
y estinguirse|
el manantio|
Mas tu|
no has de ceder|
Naturaleza herida|
y aunque muerase|
la nieve derretida|
y la fontana y el rocio|
o el nardo puro|
Tu has de continuar|
viviendo eternamente|
porque nieve, nardo,|
la fuente y el rocio|
hallen su eternidad|
en tu futuro|
derramado|
en ese cauce azul|
y hondo del rio||
