Heyo! I owe a huge thanks to the community for being so supportive of this remake. Taking down the originals was a very personal decision. While I understand curiosity, I ask that my boundaries be respected. The focus now is moving forward, making good content, and working towards a better future. Later in the year, I'd like to retire an older series into the vintage playlist and do another remake. Some of those older videos are *rough* in terms of quality! This is like listening to the Fall of Civilization Podcast but with videogames. You are trully a great storyteller and, if someone listen to this only, they would think you are actually telling a real life story somehow. Great content!
A shame the original videos got taken down but i am more than happy to listen to your storytelling again. I'm curious though. If i may ask, what happened to the person who voiced the Happy Mask Salesman?
Hexadecimal string at 23:27 reads 'HMS is paranatural entity' While I agree that the Happy Mask Salesman is not normal by any means, him remembering what he told Link before is not unusual. The request to get back Majora's Mask and the offer to revert Link's forced transformation came before the countdown started. I'm pretty sure the fulfillment of the latter is also implied to take place before the countdown restarts after Link goes back in time, despite gameplay forcing the countdown to start before the player can make that happen. As a side note, I feel it worth pointing out that time freezes while inside the Clock Tower, where the Happy Mask Salesman is. Some might think I'm about to attribute that to the Happy Mask Salesman with what I said before, but it's important to note that time freezes specifically when _Link_ enters that space. The Happy Mask Salesman experiences and acknowledges the time that flows while Link is out in Termina. Also, that's not the only place where the countdown freezes. It's also between the times when he's defeated one of Majora's monsters and when he claims the mask that serves as the prison for one of the Giants, and it freezes one last time when Link enters the Moon. Personally I'd attribute the time freezing to the Goddess of Time. She already rewinds, slows down, and even speeds up time when Link prays to her in song, why not freeze it at important junctures? She probably can't freeze it for long, at least not without weakening herself to the point of relative uselessness. Canonically the only time Link returns inside the Clock Tower is when he gets the Deku Mask, and I can't see any reason why he'd linger. Theoretically after defeated a boss he should make a beeline to the warp, so that shouldn't be longer than a few seconds. That last time, when Link is in the moon, would be the last and longest time the Goddess of Time acts upon her domain in such a way. It wouldn't do for her new champion to fail right at the last minute because he didn't have enough time, after all. Obviously this breaks down if the player plays the Song of Time while in the moon, but that's non-canonical so it falls under 'gameplay/story segregation'.
To Tiptoe the Tank, I have a proposition for the last part of this Majora's Mask series. You see, given that the ending of the game shows just about EVERYONE as having been helped, even if you DIDN'T in the last cycle, that means that somehow, helping everyone you can IS possible. There are at least more than two RUclipsrs who have performed this feat, discussed this, and even attempted it. Perhaps this can be canon for your retelling? Portray it as Link being so damn determined to make sure he helps ABSOLUTELY everyone he can before the three days are over, before he confronts Majora once and for all?
I’m ashamed to say I didn’t notice until halfway through this that they weren’t in here. Now, I appreciate the VA’s efforts, and their confidence in doing it is great as I would never have the courage to do so, but yes, it was distracting.
I almost felt like I fell through space and time when I saw this was made 3 weeks ago cause I could’ve sworn I saw this a while ago, then I saw you remade it and I was so relieved lol
I've been working on a D&D module making Majora's Mask as a full 5th edition campaign. It's playable (though it needs playtesters) but a lot of your phrasing and descriptions would work really well for lore and quest descriptions. Would you be alright if I take some of your turns of phrase for the D&D campaign?
Sounds like a unique and fun campaign. Tip is currently on vacation for a couple weeks. Even though I don't think she'd mind in the slightest I'll let her know you asked when she gets back.
This looks great! Can’t help but feel bad that the guy who voiced the masked salesman in the original version didn’t come back to voice him again this time. I thought he did a great and memorable performance for the creepy smiling masked salesman.
While the overall quality is greater, I'd say the loss of the salesmans voice over, and that back and forth he brought to the telling of this story is definitely felt.
This seems like it was made for someone who hasnt played the game but is interested in the lore but gotta say as someone who did play it it still kept my attention very well done
Majora's Mask is definitely an underrated game, mostly due to how slow its beginning is and how it timegates everything, to the point where a lot of people with no patience just say its a bad game and move on, but the game was mostly a product of its time with rushed development, so it couldn't be expected that they would have made it better than what it is, and even with the 3DS remake they had limitations due to the fact that they couldn't drive too far away from it, because at that point it wouldn't have been a proper remake, but more of a reimagination of the game and I am disappointed that Nintendo didn't do something like that, because after seeing the Final Fantasy VII remake I can't wait till that one is done with the 3 parts, because they did a lot for the game such as expanding the lore, and making many moments much more memorable than how they had been on the PS1 original, as the reimagination of that game even brought back a fan favorite character Zack and that sort of stuff is awesome, and with Majoras Mask it felt like they just "fixed" a couple of things and called it a day, when they could have done all the stuff that they hadn't had time for in its original development, which is why that remake will always be wasted potential to me.
I like to think the place Majora was eventually became the place where the Interlopers from Twilight Princess were originally sent. Hence the similarities in art design between Twili and Majora's Mask. Its a flimsy theory but I like the connective tissue!
You'll be happy to know that when she returns to Zelda someday, she possibly wants to do Windwaker and Skyward Sword. Also I don't know if you saw, but she has a series on Bloodborne as well.
I wonder, dear. Would you be able to tell us up front how many parts a given series will be (part 1 of 3, etc.)? Geeks like me like to listen to the whole thing at work in one go. I love your videos very much, so it's just a little thing. 😊
23:20 its not bullshit or something strange there Link resetet the after he entered termina in the POV of the happy mask salesman he gave him the promise to help him back to his human form around 20 seconds ago. there is nothing absurdly strange there it was even in links memory after him playing the Hymn of Time that moment going through the door is the exact point link chose to reset time and making a timestamp to mark all his items EXEPT those quest items, arrows and rubies why? Cuz if he marks the arrows he cant find them again and gonna loose his infinite supply of those objects btw is u try to find the dungeon items again their gone cuz it’s already with link jumping trough time and because only one of the exact same item can exist at the time the chests are empty same rule counts for masks. Also big examples for Markings with timestamps by the ocarina are the The 3 big masks especially Mikaos cuz after healing his soul link builds a grave and if u reset time the grave is there since day one no matter whenn you find mikao because then its a canon event and gonna be timestamped to obtain the 3rd big mask from the beginning. Links i not traveling through time he is Jumping and the Items can jump with him without creating a new timeline through duplicating and bring a object from another timeline into the main timeline.
Thanks for the great video. I also want to ask. I see the graphics in this video looks very nice, interface is very hight res. How can i play Majora's Mask this way? It is some HD mod?
I know from a Q&A (I think?) some stuff happened behind the scenes of those original videos and I am truly sorry to hear about it, but would it be possible for you to make those videos available through link only and put it in the description or a pinned comment? That way people looking for the old ones can still find them. I understand it is a sore spot and if it's something you really don't wanna do, but I really enjoyed the previous version and figured I should at least try and ask. Zero hard feelings if you don't feel comfortable doing that and I will still support and watch this new version!
see me, i think people over complicate some things. i dont totally think that termina is another realm. if it is made, i think it still exists in the same world as hyrule like another continent. and i dont think any of the people have more than an occasional passing resemblance to the hyrule people outside of the mask salesmen. think about it, link doesnt have any reaction to anyone else but the masked salesmen, which link, the salesmen, and epona if you count her, are the only confirmed intended people to be from hyrule with hints of skull kod being from there too from the beginning, where as it is stated that the decision to use other characters was just to save time, although ill admit that i dont take that as 100% confirmation that they DONT look identical to the hyrulians link met, i dont think theirs 100% confirmation for either side as a matter of fact. i just think with imperical evidence outside of visuals, which cant be helped, that they are not lore wise the same people. nd come the remaster, i dont think the people would change the people even if they knew they were meant to look different originally, nor should they have, and as we all know. they didnt. but i dunno, i dont see a lot to provide they are copies lore wise of people link knew. and i think majora in some other form or with another host was the imp the giants befriended, not skull kid. i think skull kid just befriened the fairies after feeling outcasted from hyrule for whatever reason... k guess hes just a sore loser of his and links music duel, and kinda like an eddie brock and venom situation, majora uses this slight simulator of feeling to get skull kid to wear it.
Asking what the differences are between this and the original video, as I did not like the take on the Happy Mask sales-man (imo, the game presented him as more nuanced than you did).
"In-game legends state that the land was created by the Four Giants. In the official Hyrule Encyclopedia, it is stated that Termina is nothing more than a figment of the Skull Kid's imagination brought to life by the mask, and that once the mask was defeated and Link left, Termina ceased to exist."
and people have pointed out the writers an publisher of the encyclopedia have made multiple errors that contradict facts which are laid out in the game's themselves etc so in short its a giant mess lmao so i'd take what the encyclopedia says with a grain of salt the source material is still your most trustworthy source but also idk if people remember but guide books for those game's also mention tid bits an flavor text an those are sanctioned by nintendo as well but again take everything not published by nintendo itself with grains of salt lol and if you honestly need to fill in any gaps for whatever reason try doing all the sidequests, and talking to npcs their texts when deciphered will lead you to a conclusion as this is the developers' own words afterall an not just some random publisher etc

This is like listening to the Fall of Civilization Podcast but with videogames. You are trully a great storyteller and, if someone listen to this only, they would think you are actually telling a real life story somehow. Great content!
Yayy, so happy this is back 🙏🏼🙌
Thank you for your work!
What mod/version of MM did you use? That hud is obviously different, more different than I'd expect from a 4k upscale or HD texture pack
She streamed and captured it with Retroarch emulator using a 4k texture pack (though I don't remember the name of it)
Love the vid, also what version of the game do you use for the clips?
She streamed and captured it using Retroarch Emulator and a 4k texture pack.
A shame the original videos got taken down but i am more than happy to listen to your storytelling again.
I'm curious though. If i may ask, what happened to the person who voiced the Happy Mask Salesman?
Great work, thanks for the update.
Hexadecimal string at 23:27 reads 'HMS is paranatural entity'
While I agree that the Happy Mask Salesman is not normal by any means, him remembering what he told Link before is not unusual.
What was the issue with the original? (I missed it.)
The happy mask salesman VA is noticeably absent, who knows why.
@@annhatchet3799 Oh no, so he did something bad, I’m guessing 😂😭
@@HungryPlatypus013most likely, which is a shame if that’s the case. It really added another level of depth to the story telling.
Valeu!
Thank YOU for such generosity!
40:10 Me too, Link.
I love your videos.. of all the lore Zelda videos out there, these are defensively the best😁
Love your work
I could swear you've done this series before, are these re-uploads?
Even better, remakes. New footage, script and VO 👌
I'm loving this!!!
I always appreciate your storytelling. You do a wonderful job.
Will def listen to the entire series again. Glad some voice acting (no need to name whom) is gone cause it was so distracting.
I’m ashamed to say I didn’t notice until halfway through this that they weren’t in here. Now, I appreciate the VA’s efforts, and their confidence in doing it is great as I would never have the courage to do so, but yes, it was distracting.
Woah! Tiptoe, are you living in my walls? I was JUST watching the original version yesterday!
This is my favorite game in terms of story in terms of gameplay etc that’s tears but I always love coming back and playing the game for its story
This looks great! Can’t help but feel bad that the guy who voiced the masked salesman in the original version didn’t come back to voice him again this time. I thought he did a great and memorable performance for the creepy smiling masked salesman.
Oh it's back!!! I was so worried when I saw it was gone
While the overall quality is greater, I'd say the loss of the salesmans voice over, and that back and forth he brought to the telling of this story is definitely felt.
Can't wait to hear this while driving to work, thanks once again
This being a 3 part series is an amazing meta-reference if it was intentional lol
This is one of the best story tellings I have heard to date
Is there a part 2. I enjoyed this very much
Part 2 should be coming soon. I believe it'll be three parts total.
This seems like it was made for someone who hasnt played the game but is interested in the lore but gotta say as someone who did play it it still kept my attention very well done
Made this comment halfway through. Finished now and going to the second part. The storytelling only got better is all I wanna say.
I've always loved the small detail that majoras mask doesn't have eye holes. You eont need them.
Also, on the floor of the chamber where link falls and is changed has a triforce with the triangle of courage missing.
Its a flimsy theory but I like the connective tissue!
new sub here! Such an amazing work!! keep it up!
Encounters crying Goron child:
*Takes a couple sword swipes*
She just like me frfr 😂😂😂
My new favourite channel lol
Please do windwaker! I love your videos so much! My favorite is definitely this series I also love the Bloodborn
You'll be happy to know that when she returns to Zelda someday, she possibly wants to do Windwaker and Skyward Sword. Also I don't know if you saw, but she has a series on Bloodborne as well.
@@Viryl_TV oh boy I'm excited for that someday and yes I watched her bloodborne series it was amazing!
HMS is paranatural entity????
What it means?
23:20 He is indeed...
I wonder, dear. Would you be able to tell us up front how many parts a given series will be (part 1 of 3, etc.)? Geeks like me like to listen to the whole thing at work in one go.
I love your videos very much, so it's just a little thing. 😊
Absolutely! This will be a 3 part series. In the future, I'll do my best to put "Finale" in the thumbnail or title for folks that like to binge watch.
Thank you, and thanks again for your videos.
Another excellent video 🙏
This is the first video I've seen from this channel. And this is excellent 💜. Like and sub for sure.
Thanks for the great video.
I also want to ask. I see the graphics in this video looks very nice, interface is very hight res. How can i play Majora's Mask this way? It is some HD mod?
I believe it was emulated with Retroarch with a 4k texture pack installed.
@@Viryl_TV tty
"Want to play.... a Game?" Recreated. Thank you!
I never knew the story of how the mask was carved. How tragic.
You are so underrated
So excited to watch! 🙏
I have to inform you that the Buisness Scrub filed for a restraining order.
Happy Mask Salesman indeed, Crazy Mask Salesman is more accurate.
Well done, Tiptoe.
see me, i think people over complicate some things. i dont totally think that termina is another realm. if it is made, i think it still exists in the same world as hyrule like another continent. and i dont think any of the people have more than an occasional passing resemblance to the hyrule people outside of the mask salesmen. think about it, link doesnt have any reaction to anyone else but the masked salesmen, which link, the salesmen, and epona if you count her, are the only confirmed intended people to be from hyrule with hints of skull kod being from there too from the beginning, where as it is stated that the decision to use other characters was just to save time, although ill admit that i dont take that as 100% confirmation that they DONT look identical to the hyrulians link met, i dont think theirs 100% confirmation for either side as a matter of fact. i just think with imperical evidence outside of visuals, which cant be helped, that they are not lore wise the same people. nd come the remaster, i dont think the people would change the people even if they knew they were meant to look different originally, nor should they have, and as we all know. they didnt.
but i dunno, i dont see a lot to provide they are copies lore wise of people link knew. and i think majora in some other form or with another host was the imp the giants befriended, not skull kid. i think skull kid just befriened the fairies after feeling outcasted from hyrule for whatever reason... k guess hes just a sore loser of his and links music duel, and kinda like an eddie brock and venom situation, majora uses this slight simulator of feeling to get skull kid to wear it.
Killll! I wish there was a remake
You make me remember vortexxygaming... You better not stop... It's beautiful ❤
Watching this after watching the alan wake 2 videos. This is the OG time loop (spiral) game
Deku princess is my fav minor character in this game. She is so sassy
OH BABY WE BACK!
best video game ever, story-wise
Poison swampwater and monkeys (majoras mask), poison fog and monkeys (twighlight princess)...curious very curious 😂
Asking what the differences are between this and the original video, as I did not like the take on the Happy Mask sales-man (imo, the game presented him as more nuanced than you did).
"In-game legends state that the land was created by the Four Giants. In the official Hyrule Encyclopedia, it is stated that Termina is nothing more than a figment of the Skull Kid's imagination brought to life by the mask, and that once the mask was defeated and Link left, Termina ceased to exist."
and people have pointed out the writers an publisher of the encyclopedia have made multiple errors that contradict facts which are laid out in the game's themselves etc so in short its a giant mess lmao so i'd take what the encyclopedia says with a grain of salt the source material is still your most trustworthy source but also idk if people remember but guide books for those game's also mention tid bits an flavor text an those are sanctioned by nintendo as well but again take everything not published by nintendo itself with grains of salt lol
and if you honestly need to fill in any gaps for whatever reason try doing all the sidequests, and talking to npcs their texts when deciphered will lead you to a conclusion as this is the developers' own words afterall an not just some random publisher etc
I see you didnt keep the happy masksales man voice actor is there a reason?
Was this sped up?
