The commercial didn't make me want to buy a Subaru but it did make me want to look up the music.
You know how sometimes commercials will show only the good part of songs, then when you look the song up you get disappointed.
This isn't one of those songs.
Like everyone else that Subaru commercial had me in search of this song... definitely "Powerful Stuff". Such beautiful Lyrics and the base line is awesome... Now on repeat on my iPod! Love it!

first heard this song a few years ago on a car commercial a few years ago and I don't regret searching for the full version

It's so magical how guy's voice sounds nothing like what he looks like
This song is so soulful that u can't help but fall in love with it and I think it about falling or being in love. It so powerful that it feels like a drug;)

While this song has NO reference to ANY narcotic I can see, and completely agree with, the statement made about it being about passion and love. It is most definitely soulful and moving to the spirit. May the good Lord bless us with more of this "powerful Stuff."
At first, I was sure he was talking about LOVE or a girl, but after I didn't hear the word 'LOVE' one time in the song, I listened more closely to the LYRICS, and then I heard:
"Mmm, yummy, this is powerful stuff. There's no way for you to give this up. It's in yo BODY. It's all in yo blood. It'll tear you down and lift you up. And keep you turning like it's never enough."
I wasn't sure. But the more I listened the more I became convinced that it was talking about...I know it's crazy...HEROINE.
These solos though.. I'm glad I decided to look for a live version.. definitely a new jam.

I will admit, I am new to his music. However, I became an instant fan. Holy shit, this guy pretty much rocks.
Music and the Arts are about interpretation ~ So the song could be about LOVE, drugs, ALCHOL, peanut butter & jelly, CARS. It's how you relate to the song. I instantly thought of my boyfriend...because we have some powerful stuff. But I could see how it could relate to other aspects of my life. BTW - I would like to personally thank Subaru for bringing Sean Hayes into my bedroom this morning! ;)

@JesaStar -Thanks for the kind words bout my Mom, I so many memories bout her linked w/music-Her playing or singing, our family all playing or singing 2gether, of course my brother, sister, & I were all lil' kids doing our concerts for my Mom & Dad stuff we'd just make up-GREAT STUFF! I KNOW if my Mom would have had a chance to hear this she'd be wanting to sing this song as my brother, sister, & I got older (now all in our 20's) she & my Dad slowly grew into liking the same stuff we all liked
