    A special Thank You goes to Sullivan Bay Marina. Even though I was a tiny boat (15 ft) and their typical client had their own wifi, they made me feel welcome. Two Thumbs Up!!!

    The white things hanging from the pole in the middle of the boat are very useful too!

    Thanks for posting, very refreshing.. I also have a WWP 15, down here in Central Calif. Now I am thinking of a trip like yours! Do you use you GPS as a anchor dragging warning?

    • @WaterTrails
      @WaterTrails  9 лет назад +1

      +geob01 Nope, I just have a simple handheld gps, no alarms on it. I highly recommend areas like this!

    Yeah, I was thinking when you anchored, that you were anchoring in the middle of the pass, rather than in that little bay near the shore, where you would have been safer. Tides run big through passes in that area.

      The little bay completely dries at low tide. After that experience, I look for spots with only 1 open end.

    Some whom followed, of course you are wondering, why did he acquire a 28' sailboat, well, when you reach a certain age, it's not a matter of when, it's a matter of now.

    I just got a Potter 15. Anyone have an opinion about best outboard to use? I thought about a 4 hp, so i can use an external gas tank, instead of refueling every hour. Not sure about the weight tho.

      I recommend keeping it under 3hp, because of weight, boat design, fuel consumption, and a bigger motor doesn't make it go much faster. The manufacturer recommends that as well (in the Potter manual, available online). When I was buying mine, it had a 5hp. We agreed to knock off $s if he kept the motor. I then bought a brand new 2.6hp. Very happy I made that decision.

    what time of year did you go out on this adventure? thank you very much for sharing

    • @WaterTrails

      That year I did it during the last 2 weeks of July. In 2016 I did it during the first 2 weeks of August. In 2014 it was the week straddling July-August.
