Maybe the BorisFX team can make a plugin to render point clouds and from it extract nulls or pointlights in similar fashion to how the AE Camera Tracker does it? Would defeat the need for 1000+ layers in a comp :)

That's a valid idea. The best workflow for that currently is to make visible only the points you want to use inside Mocha Pro. Then when you generate the data, you can just use Visible to create the points that are going to be most useful for that time.

But working color space isn't necessarily the color space of our footage.
What if I want to set the working color space to something linear like acescg, set display to rec709, and then for my footage manually do the color conversion with "Color Profile Converter" (from our footage color space to acescg)? What does Mocha pick up then? Does the mocha preview show the rec709 image (just like AE preview)? And what happens in the remove module when I create clean plates? Are they limited to rec709? What if I want to export in linear afterwards?
I think the best option is for the Mocha effect to be applied before the "Color Profile Converter" effect. And within Mocha set a custom working color space, the same one as the footage.
    What are your thoughts?

If you are doing it that way, then apply Mocha before the Color Profile Converter and set a custom working space inside Mocha. If you're doing any rendering with Mocha set _after_ Color Profile Converter, then AE will be feeding Mocha those color values. And you won't want that!
