Yoda is wonderful, but for a younger kid like me who grew up in the prequel era, Qui-Gon is also incredibly wise and knowledgeable and he is actually my favorite character in the entire franchise.
What I learned was that Lucas took and studied many myth creations: Americas ( Leia had the Hopi style of hair) Jedi ( Djed of Khemet) priesthood. SITH(Seti) priests. Mystics. This lecture is good.
The two books that Lucas mentioned reading by Jason Cambell...Campbell?... were The Hero With a Thousand Faces and Occidental Mythology. Im sure he was influenced by a whole bunch of paths, like the Djed, like someone else mentioned but these two books i remeber him actually saying out loud in that Star Wars behind the scenes documentary...the big one, i forget what its called...Empire of Dreams or something...are those two. 🖖🏽🤓 🖖🏽 may the fourth be with you

TIL there's a BHNN podcast about Sufis. Excuse me while I go binge listen. :) I've been extremely curious about the Sufi path.
George Lucas was inspired by Hindu mythology and Joseph Campbell (who was also inspired by Hindu lore).
