Well, I mean I will always support you guys but honestly that sounds like a whole lot of queer trauma again, and I am not sure I want to watch it. However it is good, that they are finally putting a show out there that is showing the lavender scare in more detail because I think we know way too little about it. So I'm torn 🤷
Oh my god yess please watch the series !! I’m so excited. It was so dangerous to be openly gay in the 1950’s they used to get girlfriends to mask their sexuality and be true to themselves in private. queers was used instead of saying gays back then as a harmful remark as u know
I read a book about queer culture in NYC, specifically how gay men navigated the world they lived in, from the 1890s to WWII which was a fascinating read. While it was still a crime, it was also more "accepted" in that there were massive drag balls every year that were attended by everyone including NYC'S elite. Post-WWII society really forced that community to retreat and to virtually disappear from the world at large. The words we use today while talking about the LGBT community really solidified back then and words that are now slurs were not then. They were descriptives, like twink is nowadays. Even the word "gay" meant something else back then and was only really used by gay men FOR gay men. That was an important time when gay culture flourished, to an extent, and we've lost a lot of information about that time.
I couldn't contain my excitement while watching your video; I had a smile on my face the entire time. I'm eager to see this one and hear your thoughts about it.
Your excitement for this show is infectious. I wouldn’t have even seen it was coming up without - anyone know on what streamer it will air in Australia??
Deadloch (on Prime) is gay and very thrilly since it is a murder mystery. The main character is a lesbian, but my favorite character is Sven, her deputy, played to camp per}ection by the wonderful Tom Ballard.
Welcome to America! We use the term COMUNISM for everything the Right doesn't agree with. Like gay rights, income equality, universal healthcare, global warming, ect. ect. Yes please react to this, I want to watch it with :0P
Loved the book, more because I'm into history and the history of social politicking, but I'm interested in the show opening up the characters/potential for joy. (The book was kind of a downer.) Excited to see what other people think about it!
This is still relatively a mainstream East Coast Story but I remember an example from Florida that tormented a queer person in an educational institution.
That was a very interesting time in American politics. It's the reason we have "In God We Trust" on our money and added "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. Communism was equal to godlessness/atheism so we had to prove we were a good Christian country. I had a great uncle who was called before McCarthy because he worked for Edward R. Murrow.
Yes, you obviously have to do reactions for this! Was this even a question? 🤨 I'm going to have to get a free paramount plus account and binge it in under a week or something but that's ok...
Yes absolutely watch this! It was very very interesting time in american history imo. Horrible things happened but a very interesting time nonetheless.
Should we react to this!? Let us know x
Yes! 💯!
Immediately yes. Immediately and thoroughly yes.

It’s the subject of the song “1950” by King Princess.

There is a reason I watch season 2 of Brigerton & White Collar. I love Jonathan & Matt in these shows even though it’s not a queer show.
My heart is on the floor right now!!!!
My God!!
Is this show going to be about the lavender scare......because sign me up
Yeah it's about lavender/red scare
You guys are so cute with your jaws dropped 😅😅
You can’t put today’s social acceptance on the past , things were very different in that time . Use it as a barometer of how far we’ve come .
We are shooketh!
Alex just causes a casual scandal and then Josh something even more scandalous 😂
