    I sure hope they either shorten the board, make it horizontal, or have it come in 2 separate pieces. I hate these extra long vertical boards!
    EDIT: I just watched your final thoughts and saw that you also mentioned this. I hope they fix it!

    A closer look would help when showing Hippocrates and vials of medicine for example.
    I know the board is huge and table is crowded....I will suffer for this because I only have one dining room table 😅😅😅
    As for the rules......who knows ! 😕😕😕😕
    Did not realize that solo mode , hope it is worth while.
    Anyway, ordered game and it will arrive tomorrow.
    Thanks.

    I usually prefer when you make videos playing in 2p, but I understand that in this game it doesn't make much difference besides keeping track of the AI scores. Great video, and the mechanics of the game seem great. Maybe the board is too big for my taste, but it looks like it scales well from 1 to 4 players, so I might get it.

    The fourth heavy (heavier?) euro I've looked at this year. Still feeling great about backing Carnegie. This one Is looking better than Stroganov or Darwin's Journey, but do I need the deluxe edition or wait for retail? This run-through is giving some of the same feels as Prêt-à-Porter, a game I love. Anyone else feeling that?

    When buying the medicine after the 32 minute mark Rahdo complains about getting only one green, but I'm pretty sure the prototype gray bottle symbols got mixed up because that's a 1 Blue, 2 Purple, 2 Green tile if I got it right.

  • @supermegavega

    I play with 3 players often. Is bot bothersome? I'm not a big fan of non-player I have to keep track of.

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  3 года назад

      it's not a problem at all. when it's the 3rd players turn, they just take the highest numbered tile and that changes player order. takes less than 10 seconds per round :)

  • @UncleMilo
    @UncleMilo 3 года назад

    I'm not sure if this is mentioned anywhere, but Rahdo seems to have forgotten you can buy and sell medicine as described at the top of his player board. You can buy a medicine for 3 or sell a medicine for 2.

    Wow! It seems like everything in this game depends on you getting your reputation up high. Do you think it is possible to win the game with a low reputation? For example, could you intentionally lower your reputation and still win? Just curious, as far as game balance goes.

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  3 года назад +1

      you sacrifice a lot of free stuff to keep your reputation at the highest level, so you get first pick of doctors, but you don't necessarily have enough money to make the best use of that priority. and if your rep is low, chances are you've got the medicine you need, so you don't need to buy it along with docs

    i never understood how the die got assigned to each column...
    is it related to the hexagons under the reputation?

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  3 года назад

      there's a six sided die for each column, and the dice have 1,1,2,2,3,3 on them, so when your roll them, you put them in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd row of whatever column they belong in :)

      @rahdo  3 года назад

      @@xChikyx they dice and colums are color coded. it's kind of hard to tell in my video because my high contrast sort of crunches color bandwidth, but iird first column is for the red die (the patients have red background), 2nd column is for violet die, 3rd column is olive, 4th is black, 5th is dark blue, 6th is light blue :)

    hi. i pledged it for the name of the author, the artwork and after quick run through the rules and, ça va sans dire, after having a look at your vid (and jon’s too).... but after a couple of sessions on tabletopia i u-turned. i had the impresssion of the absence of climax, which might not be perceived by looking at a couple of rounds: in fact the first and last turn could be potentially the exact same: there is no growth in your "powers", no growth on the table (no evolutions for patients or doctors or medkits). there is no accrual on money or resources or even ability which you might invest in and benefit in the late game. it goes like sine curve: you have a big round where you go rocket and then restart from 0. rinse and repeat. for me this is a pity, given all the love and effort put into this game. maybe this is something could be addressed in the campaign?

    • @rahdo

      @@michelebricchi868 ah that makes sense. i suspect this isn't something they're going to change, because the game works great as is. there's lots of games out there that don't feature a 'growth arc' but instead just have you make consistent progress foward on whatever victory vector the game features five tribes, pandemic, patchwork, jaipur, ra, etc. this is one of those. there's no engine building at all... i guess you do get a bit of "personal growth" from pushing for greater standing on the prestige track, but that's totally optional and just defines turn order. this is just a puzzley, fast race to get the most points :)

      just as a warning, the stroganov board is pretty big as well :)

  • @S.Kapriniotis
    @S.Kapriniotis 3 года назад

    Very nice mechanics, but I am confused, what are victory points exactly if not fame/reputation?
    I understand how you lose reputation if you decide to treat certain patients that may be, I don't know, thieves, prostitutes, etc. but what do you actually get after you successfully treat them?
    Other things that don't make sense are the extra stuff you get when you decide to treat a patient. You get money to treat someone that will give you more money if you successfully treat them? They give you their own medicine when they come for treatment? You get victory points just by accepting them? Why, how, from where?
    I like the system very much, the art is beautiful and the components are probably going to be great, but the whole thing doesn't make sense. It feels very disconnected from an actual hospital. It is as if the designer had a great idea that he failed to connect meaningfully to a theme.
    I would love to see a reskin of this game with another theme that actually makes sense. Oh, and how come Game Brewer is allowed to have 4 campaigns undelivered at the same time? I thought that was not allowed by KS? Not afraid they won't deliver, but having just finished the Stroganov campaign they start this one? Just curious.
    Thank you for the great video as always!

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  3 года назад +1

      well, VP specifically means you've earned respect from hippocrates himself, as we're vying to succeed him, while reputation is a more broad metric that determines how the burgeoning medical field at large views you.
      regarding "where did that other stuff come from", that's a good question. the rules don't say, but i'd equate it to the fact that we're not just treating locals, but influential people who have travelled from all around the world to us. those people have connections, they present opportunties back in their home land. i don't think it's the case that the people are bringing along with them the stuff that's pre-printed on the board... the patients just bring the $$$ they'll pay if you heal them. the stuff that's on the board represents other opportunities that are available from those regions regions when we interact with them. there clinics in carthage that will pay us in $ or medicine if we do some time there. there are regions that are looked down upon by society at large and so our reputation will suffer if we interact with those regions, etc.
      this is the reason the pre-printed stuff never changes... those opportunities are always going to be available in Carthage or Macedonia or what have you :)
