I really wish they could've done more here, a good One Piece JRPG is the dream and this is so close.
How does it fall short
@@Inklnx The combat system is bad in that it doesn't take advantage of its systems. It has the neat idea of having enemies in zones and the crew having to work together to take them down by knocking them into range of eachother, covering weaknesses of one another etc. But the battles are so easy you don't have to pay attention to it, and the boss battles are just single fight affairs that don't use the mechanic at all
The story is just "Hey what if we were in a virtual world doing jobs and quests for people we know aren't real" so there's a narrative diaconnect as to why you're doing anything by just doing "one piece greatest hits" the story is at its best when its doing original stuff but it's like....20 percent of the actual game.
I'm disappointed more people didn't buy this game to the point some call it a "hidden gem" but I'm happy it's on switch with all the dlc, Odyssey is a great rpg that I'm happy more will get to experience.
One Piece Odyssey was amazing. I played on PS5. Hope Switch owners enjoy it.
Also unrelated but thank you for giving us Gundam Breaker 4!! Please consider reviving the Dynasty Warriors Gundam series too. :)

Tbh anyone who is sleeping on this game cuz it’s turn based should really give it a try the story is really good and it’s really nice to see certain twist in the main story

Weirdly enough, I have One Piece Odyssey on my PS4, but I never had a chance to play it. (I've just been too busy with work and playing other games to have a chance.) Maybe when it's re-released on the Switch, I can get my chance.
The situation same as me working driver lorry during the day and when home usually i play with my son's and little girl so for me I rarely touch my PS4 at home and i neither my smartphone 🤣🤣🤣

I still think Jason Demarco of Toonami knew about this games existance on why he aired One Piece years ago when this game first got announced
he lied about airing One Piece _is because its popular_ he says

I've been curious about this one but i haven't seen the show, i want to watch it but 1000 episodes is daunting, would i still be able to play this? a One Piece Dragon Quest like RPG intrigues me :)
The game has an original story that also provides looks into previous One Piece story arcs so don't worry if you haven't seen the anime.

Never watched or played a one piece game do you guys recommend?
this is one of those "how can this game run on Switch" but then i remember games like Doom 2016, The Witcher 3, Crysis (and well) and Skyrim (i know that game is super old but that game shouldn't run on it).
It also has Dragon Quest XI and One Piece Odyssey gives me DQXI vibes.
