The best chances of not being slowed down by someone you have when there are no tourists from countries in which there are no toboggan runs and therefore drive pretty slow. September and October are good months, in July you can forget a free drive, and then there is also a veeeery long queue

In the summer (when there is no pandemic) there are a lot of tourists from those countries and most of them drive pretty slow. Probably they don´t know toboggan runs

There is a chairlift to the top. You can sit in it yourself. And with that the carts can also be brought to the top.
