Magic Kimono YouTube - Shinshun Matsuri 2014 - Shizumi Kodomo Dance Troupe

Magic Kimono is one of our newest dances. Based partly on ancient yamatogaku music from over a millennium ago, the dance opens with traditional Japanese instruments and a slow pace, and then transforms into a modern interpretation. The dance celebrates the beauty of Japanese kimono, made of silk -- a "magical" fabric made from the threads of the tiny silk worms, which is both soft and strong, warm and cool, heavy and lightweight, all at the same time. Please enjoy seeing the many patterns and colors of the Japanese kimono!
