Dr. Calabrese is a truly brilliant, inspiring psychiatrist. I'm so grateful for this interview.
I've considered tapering for several years. But I've been doing so well since I started vegan keto for bipolar in 2022 that I'm scared to taper due to past tapering experiences. (Those attempts were pre-keto) So I'm not quite ready yet, but I hope I will be able to try tapering again.

Does a ketogenic diet facilitate healing/nueroplasticity
after cessation of a SSRI that was taken for over 20 years?

Great video! Lovely woman - I'm perplexed though. Nicole Laurent spoke with Lori about my case (bouts of insomnia while tapering olanzapine among other negative symptoms) and Lori told her olanzapine clears the brain quicker on keto so I was tapering quicker than I thought; however, around 12:50 Lori uses olanzapine as an example of potentiation for which she cuts the med in half. I'm curious if I ever experienced potentiation on keto with olanzapine in the beginning, and based on my journal maybe I did for only a week that went away early on even before I started tapering olanzapine and once I did, I had terrible withdrawal symptoms. Is it possible to experience both potentiation and quicker clearance which would lead to withdrawal symptoms or would you only experience one and if so, why? I hear more about potentiation - what about quicker clearance and how to mitigate that?

Very interesting! I have been on Buprenorphine and buproprion for 4 years- I have been in ketosis for 6 months and feel like my medications have started working again, maybe they are being metabolized better? I would be curious to find out more.

Pristiq ER is impossible to wean off of. There is only 100, 50, 25. I'm on 50mg. Due to half life it's going to be a nightmare.

I told my doctor about going keto IF and reduce my meds but it was hopeless...not supportive because she doesnt know what shes doing....she did the base level tests but didnt know if my medication was detrimental to mitochondria...
Heaven forbid asking her if she thought there was a was a link between my autoimmune disease and my so called mental health disorder...and its scary cutting down on pills...i ve tried numerouse times, mostly i catch myself in time but last time it happened.....i tried catching myself but my lifestyle was so unbalanced I couldnt ground myself in reality...to the extent i lost faith in my pills. After trying one last time to double dose on advice from a friend I ended up falling asleep at the wheel and writing off my car!...two months later...i still hadnt stabalized...but was in a better place to give them a little bit more time to work.....and have been on them ever since.
