I want to comment more about this video and performance, as everything in it right... Simple black background, some microphone stands to hint that it is a stage. This young woman dressed up somewhat like any player in opera or consert orchestra. Only with her drum and voice doing something different indeed. I think this "set" gives room for what she does. Nothing else is needed. As I was a professional dancer 10 years in my youth and worked with the most talented and dedicated modern ballet people in Finland, I know how much work and dedication it takes to do something like this. Later in life I spended 10 years playing with cameras and I could boldly say that I am an award winning documentarist. So that is why comments on video too. It is for sure the best version of this song. The way it is performed here, the correct "arena" would be any big operahouse or conserthall in the world. It makes me so happy to see something like this.
No, I believe the correct arena would be the hills of the Faroe Islands, or any hills really, a large fire, with native people gathered around it, watching in awe, as she connects them with the world of Gods and sprites, giving them the power to get through another battle, invasion or even just another day. That’s what this music does to me.
When it's time for me to walk those cold steps to hel, This song and helvegen will be the ones to sing me there. The version where she is singing in that small village moves the spirit in ways That only the gods can understand. I wish all who read this to be safe on their travels/journey.
This is cool. Very traditional nordic somehow... I am someone who was born to modern Finland 1960, which means modern democracy with high level of education and all hightec companies all this stuff. Yet I am also from a family that every second person was some sort of reresentative of nearly 10.000 years of old nordic shamanistic past. This sounds and feels suprisingly "home" even though performer is from a far away country. Video also very beautiful in its all simplicity. Gteat!!!

When listening to this, I forget that it is all just one vocalist and her drums. Very captivating!
Incredible song. incredible girl
I will listen this before my job interview. It gives me power! Wonderful voice
So beautiful and raw. I tear up every time I hear it. Yes, I have this saved as a favorite.
I am just amazed! It is a great song, great performance! Thank you!
I always come back to this a few times a year. Such an amazing, powerful performance.

Fantastic performance in the Swedish city house, Blå Hallen. It was amazing, thank you Eivor for playing at our party
I always come back this. I love her voice so much!! ♥️
My favorite rendition 😍
This is just beautiful. Keep your culture alive at any price!
This is what we need. Cultural folk music, not english generic pop music #500000000

Show! Som nórdico sempre bem vindo! E um comentário em português do Brasil sempre tem que ter!👍
She is from Faroe island. Wow so much to learn about the world.
+Echoman Denmark.
Ravenmoon Canada Thank you :)
+Ravenmoon Canada So she learnt Faroese?
+Ravenmoon Canada No, she's not from Denmark, she's from the Faroe Islands. Check Wikipedia.
aarongtr180 That's what i read and so i just didn't find the need to say anything. Glad someone else knows where she is from.
When it's time for me to walk those cold steps to hel,
This song and helvegen will be the ones to sing me there.
The version where she is singing in that small village moves the spirit in ways
That only the gods can understand.
I wish all who read this to be safe on their travels/journey.
Thor's granddaughter. The blood of the Gods flows in her.

Are you sure it's tor's(or thurs)? Sounds more to be Idun, Fraja and Brage....
I'm very sure it'd be Bragi's, the god of music and poetry, so most likely him!
false gods
+Wesleysnipzzz Fuck you, your gods are fake. If you're an atheist then you have no room to talk. Stupid fucker.
Very few female voices command desire and respect at the same time. What a joy to listen to, so young and so talented.
Gteat!!!
I want her, Björk and Tagaq to produce something together.
+Míriel Eledhwen (Schnee) Imagine if this woman had worked on Medúlla with Björk
Vojtěch Mikloš Sadly, I have not enough imagination to imagine it.. but yes, it would have been incredibly awesome.
Björk is the first one to produce any kind of music with her. Björk is amazing.
I am 5 generations Welsh, no connections with the North but this music hits me deep. I love it!
