One of the best ways to compare pDrive ramp angles is to know how TRA ramp angles work. Ramp angles are applied on a cam arm or ramp, providing the way the sled pulls hard. In simple terms, looking at a TRA ramp is a way of analyzing a pDrive ramp and you can answer tuning questions. How is this ramp with a higher curve work different than a ramp with a lower curve. Is it worth sometimes modifying a ramp, pDrive or TRA? Sometimes it is yeah, you bet, even better than using an adjustable pDrive ramp. I take you through the knowledge of the power of a primary clutch ramp. Getting into the pDrive ramps differences vids to come. Enjoy the vidya and remember "stay.....tuned !"

Great video joe, lots of details. What are your thoughts - CJ could experiment with lower finishing force on the primary or in tra, using the clicker to lower the ramp, pushing harder in the range where he is getting passed.

CLICKER) Lowering the clicker also lowers the start angle of the ramp in the portion where he was coming off the line. The engine was not as quick to accelerate and slower to get to the 350' mark.
SPRING) The primary clutch spring, one with a next lower final force was too big of a change going from xxx/430 to xxx/370. From 430 to 370 the engine speed would drift low getting near the finish line. Cutting the ramp like I did give us the leeway to use a xxx/460 if needed.

Dynamo Joe I learned so much from you, your site, and your videos. Thanks! I’ve been helping my buddy tune a vintage CVT mini bike. Different machine, same principals. Take care.

worn clutch wear parts, improper drive belt, wrong engine speed, all contribute to low top speed

Hi Mike. There are 2 types of adjuster in 2009. Do you have the aluminum one with the setscrews and 2 jamb-nuts? Send me a picture of it at my website. info at ibackshift dot calm.
