Bream, like all fish, are magnificent creatures. You decide to fish, and target your species - quite happy catching bags of Bream, Tench, small carp - even down to targetting Gudgeon on a whip!
Fishing - got to love it..!!

@@Lifeonthebank Nick - thank you. I used to match fish a lot so learned how to target particular species with particular methods - favourites being breadpunch, chopped worm, hemp and squatt. After my eldest son took up the other family sport of Boxing, I left it alone as I got back into that (not fighting though - too old!). When he stopped, I decided that I didn't want to carry all that with me anymore and decided to concentrate on one avenue of the sport - fishing for Pike and Perch (mainly lures, but also deadbaits). Mainly fish the Upper Lea and have had a few successes, though that big 'sergeant' still eludes me. Your series on 'Perch Masters' has given me quite a bit of food for thought and ideas - great series - many thanks.

  • @elwooddestiny11blues20

Great video . I must admit im not a fan of bream unless targeting them or feeder fishing . One method i enjoy is using a 1-6g or 1-10g Bfs baitcaster set ups . I use them with Kamasan black cap 10 and 15g maggot feeders and drennan small cage feeders in 10g and 15g . 2lb fluorcarbon straight through or 4lb line with 2lb hook link and size 22 to 16 hook . A couple of strong rubber float stops and you on a good to go . Ideal on canals and deep venues (no tangles too ) . The old boys looked on in shock as i pulled out fish after fish next to them at their local match at canary wharf . They was kind enough to let me fish . I even caught a large slob trout . The lower lea has some huge bream in it . My biggest was 17.2lb followed by a 14.6lb and a 13.9lb in the same session . I can be sure of a double at least 1 in 3 trips when the fish are biting (biggest problem on the lower lea ) . Wouldnt use the BFS set ups though as its running water and you need at least 30g to 90g feeders . Great vid . Bream need love too .

bream are quality, and they are quality bream. as you say balanced tackle is the way, you would have trouble landing them on a flowing river, they fight much better!

    • @Lifeonthebank

Twitching the rig back is done when the feeder is further up the line than the hook bait normally, as he is using a helicopter rig twitching the rig back would move the hook bait further from the ground bait rather than getting it closer
