- Hey darlings, welcome back to my first playthrough of Mass Effect 3! In part 21, Shepard debriefs with the crew before heading back to the Citadel. The Assari counselor reveals that Thessia, the Assari homeworld, is under Reaper attack. After ancient secrets are revealed about the Assari and a few unexpected guests join the party, Shepard and Liara face one of their most devastating losses in the war so far.

Ok who is the worst, Kai Leng or the Illusive man? No wrong answers here 😒
I'd say Kai Leng. At least Illusive Man can respect his opponents (such as Shepard). Kai Leng's just an outright jerk.
Depends on your meaning of worst. Who is the Better and fleshed out Villain? Jack Harper more commonly known as "The Illusive Man". The Worst as in poorly written, ill conceived, and a marry sue self insert? Kai Leng.
Also, you kind of hit on it. his eyes remind me of... Saren Arterius. HE was indoctrinated by Nazara, more commonly known as Sovereign. History doesn't necessarily repeat, but it definitely rhymes.
Edit: this is what I get for posting before finishing the vid. Joker's sister on Tiptree? Remember the Asari girl in the hospital whom has PTSD and is talking to the doctor? she was sent to Tiptree.

Kai Leng, by a large margin. TIM is at least sincere in his beliefs, misguided as they are. With Kai Leng it's all about his ego and his sadism.

The Citadel dlc now should be fine to do once you do Priority: Horizon. It’s a long dlc, easily my favourite dlc of all time though. So much fan service for us Mass Effect diehards. Also if someone hasn’t already mentioned it I highly recommend bringing Liara on the final mission.

Don't know if you were aware of this, but that Asari with PTSD in the hospital is talking about what happened to Joker's sister and family on Triptree.

1:28:40 I think Javik actually cares in a way, because when Shepard tells him that Liara means a lot to her, he tells her what she wants to hear, to make her happy. If he didn't care, I think he would have been brutally honest, and he probably would have told her he didn't mean it. And also, Prothy the Prothean has a certain ring to it, doesn't it 😆
Just a little info you may or may not have missed now you've had the conversation with Joker. He talks about Tiptree and the Reapers arrival there. If you listen to that traumatised Asari in Huerta Hospital, she is talking about Tiptree. It is widely believed in fandom that the 'farm girl' was Joker's sister.
Dj Lucy in house with mix master Dr. Chocolates, that part of the play through had me dying laughing 🤣. Yeah I really feel like you were meant to bring Javik along for that mission as well, but with original release of the game he was day one dlc.

This is the most important mission of the series - by that I mean saving our big cuddly buddies the Elcor. As if the Reapers couldn’t get any more evil.
They were already a nightmare, but they crossed a LINE when they went after the Elcor 😤
So the asari were raised up by the surviving Protheans to be the ones to end the Cycle and beat the Reapers, but in their infinite wisdom (read: "hubris") decided to ignore the warnings and hoard the Protheans' knowledge for themselves.

This mission hit hard when this first came out at this point in the game liara was a very beloved character so having lost and having her lose her home world kind of took a number on us. Lol....also after doing the priority mission sanctuary i recommend doing any unfinished missions especially the citadel dlc.

My personal choice for a possible book title would be "The Prothean Empire: A Living History Of The Protheans," which is essentially combining 2 of the possible book titles that Liara has listed here

Javik was originally *not* DLC--they changed him to day 0 DLC--so I imagine it was originally intended to include Javik, when it could be expected everyone could bring him.
If you ask me, while Illusive Man's argument isn't _completely_ without merit (letting the Reapers and their knowledge and power just be erased is a waste), what he fails to realize is two things; one, would *anyone* truly appreciate such limitless power in the hands of a terrorist group like Cerberus? And two, how can he be certain it's his own conclusion? After all, even if he wants to stop the Reapers in other ways than outright destroying them, he's still hindering the Galaxy's efforts to do so more than he's helping them.
I suppose that's the real scary part of Indoctrination. It uses any your own arguments against you. Even if you're completely devoted to your own race's safety, Indoctrination still manages to make you sabotage them without realizing it.
Except for one detail you are probably missing... Even if the Reapers are destroyed, they won't be vaporized. Maybe the survivors might not be able to reach quite the level of the Reapers, but certainly in only a couple decades could advance by thousands of years by studying and reverse-engineering Reaper tech. The Illusive Man's plan as it is, leaves Reapers in existence with his mind in control... and when he dies, what then? At least destroyed they won't be a threat anymore and we can still take advantage.
@@j.rileyindependentproductions I feel like you're trying to make an argument for the ending of the game, but despite my own opinions I'm not going to. Both to keep this section spoiler-free and because I'm not in the mood right now to argue about that subject.
@@Timjer92 Oh, no, believe me, I am NOT making an argument for the end of the game at all, and am remaining SPOILER FREE. I was referring ONLY to how things are in that moment between Shep and TIM.
What I say in that situation, does not define anything else I may or may not decide at any other part of the game.
As sad as it seems..... the situation with the Elcor just shows how thin everyone is being spread.
The Asari are meant to protect the Elcor. You saw how well they were going.
The Turians are busy with defending themselves and the Volus.
The humans and Salarians are busy holding their space together.
Jokers sass is the spice of the Normandy crew, we all appreciate it. Happy to see the adventures of Nyx continue.

Secret Context: Keep talking to traumatized girl in citadel hospital. You might inadvertently discover something about a crewmate. It's not explicitly said, you have to parse it out a bit.
On a side note I never had the DLC so getting Javik in the Thessia scenes for years of just bringing random crew mates added a huge amount of good content. Very cool. Also there is something he says that is a big foreshadow. You would never guess but interesting in hindsight.
1:34:14 There is a version where she doesn't. If you hadn't hit that paragon choice, Liara would've buried in her bed lying on her side like a fetus crying herself into dispair. I've seen it once because I wasn't fast enough to hit the paragon choice and after that you can't talk to her. The scene just ends.

This is the mission that pissed off a lot of people. Kai Leng and his ridiculous plot armour. Nothing worse in gaming than a cutscene defeat by an enemy whose ass you were annihilating in gameplay. Doesn't help that Leng is a wannabe Edge-Lord that some lame writer thought was 'cool.'

Kai Leng was created with plot armor to move the story along. He's DESIGNED to be the worst. It's on purpose. lol
Greetings milady! It was fun watching the expurgated version of your Stream (after attending the Live Stream)... this gut punch still hurts even with repeated viewing! You are into Chapter 3 and the Times of Reckoning & Resolution for this grand epic! They do well in putting all the puzzle pieces together and resolving the loose plot threads... and we are all looking forward to your next meet with that bastard Kai Leng! As Javik put it... his is a throat that needs to be slit! 🤯🤬
Bioware was GREAT at making you feel fully invested in the characters and the story, and really hurting your feelings with their plot twists and occasional crucial defeats! Many of us still bear the trauma of that Chapter of Neverwinter Nights with the Mother's request to rescue her Children from that Pack of Were-Rats... the tears and the rage are forever ingrained in our psyches from that one! I had friends who all played the game at the same time... we all had the same reaction. Turned the game off and had a good cry in the corner for awhile. We each called one another after reaching the plot twist... conversations were the same...
"Did you reach that part in the story?!" answered with a quiet and subdued "yeah"... 😓😅😅
Returning to the game a day or two later was with a fire of RESOLVE to quell our thirst for REVENGE! The MASS EFFECT Trilogy & DRAGON AGE were BIOWARE's final hurrah... 🙏😙

It should be a mandate and not even a choice to bring Javik to Thessia simply for the lore.

God, I hate Kai Leng so much! Worst written character of the trilogy imo. He's like the self insert of a 14 year old edgelord who watches too much anime.
Now I can see him at this computer typing that email, with his waifu pillow in the background 😂
The sad part is, he was a character that Mass Effect fans were begging to be brought into the game.
He was in the novels first, and he's a much better character there (Or so I'm told.)
I don't feel sorry for the Asari at all. Shepherd kept asking them to help and that everyone needs to work together but they stood on the sidelines until they needed help.
They waited until it was already too late 🙁
This is untrue, they help once Cerberus attacks the citadel, way before Thessia falls. Admiral Hacket literally mentions this if you ask him about the council races after the respective mission. Don't get me wrong, they weren't helping from the get go, but it's not like anyone else was, we going to not care about Palaven burning or the Batarians getting obliterated(that happened before Earth was attacked, not a single council race helped them, including the Alliance).
Yeah, I *really* don’t like it when games give you a boss fight you can ”win” followed by a cut scene that’s like “nah, we’re doing this now”.
If you’re going to do that, why not just make the whole thing a cut scene?

expanded galaxy mod,
priority earth overhaul mod, and patch community
These mods add more dialogue, scenes and the final battle on earth is super epic, you really feel the desperation of winning
A graphics mod that looks the same is also installed
it's a good experience
moders do a better job than the company itself
