In player's minds, the bold knight, resplendent in his armor of silver or ebon, sallies forth and slays the foul footsoldier. Combat, mortal combat, is the heart and soul of chess, but this aspect of it can only live in the mind's eye... until now!

The animations are cool, a bit too slow though. The biggest problem with projects like this taking off among the competitive players is that they seek simplicity in pieces design. So one of the solutions to this could be switching from recognizable to the fantazy design during interactions only.

one of my favorite games used to be Archon. it was a chess game where some of the tiles turned different shades, of either white going darker or black going lighter. each piece had different abilities and once your piece landed on another it went into a battle map where you fought. and depending on what colour you were, you could gain or lose strength. like if a black piece tried to take a white piece on a white square, then the black piece would be fighting at a disadvantage, but if the tile was black, then the white piece would be fighting with a penalty
I love that the Pawn's get goofy ass kills while the rest are showing professional like kills hahaha... But all the kills are astonishing

Best part of this is this is not patented so you could insert your own characters creation and have them kill each other off in the most unique ways without worrying about copyright because chess has been around for as far as I can tell at minimum 600 years perhaps a few thousands I haven't actually done research on it by no it's years old.

Not only are the animations kick-ass, but the game lets you see what legal moves can be played by what piece. Even novices who don't know the rules have a chance at winning!!!

@@53XM4CH1N3 do you play chess? Do you know ALL the rules by heart? Most games I don’t play because the rules are too intrinsically challenging; if the game is too hard to learn, I reject it (even the game of checkers is beyond me)
@@chrismayer3919 there aren’t that many rules, it might be different if you play professionally but all you need to know is how pieces move, how they are arranged in the board before the game starts, your king can’t be next to the other king by one square, how queening works, and how check and checkmate works and that pawns can move 2 squares on their first move. It sounds like more than it is, piece movement and arrangement can be learnt in less than a few minutes, you might take some matches to get better at seeing when you are in check and when you can check, the other rules are very simple and it mostly depends on you being told by someone about them. With this you should be able to play. As you begin you’ll probably learn about openings wich are simple and easy to memorize, but the rest mostly depends on you.

I'm in quarentine because of this fucking coronavirus, i watched every single video on youtube that is in my recommended. Never played chess, but i searched "chess fights" expecting to see some guys throw hands in the middle of the game of chess, needless to say i have never been so disappointed in my entire life.
when the male pawn come to opponent's edge, he become a girl, married to his king immediately (even if the queen is still alive) and become another queen.
Why did some of the units turn black?
Bug. For the blue-red version, it only happens sometimes, but for the white-black version (like in this video) it happens in almost every game. Especially when a piece (for example, knight) is taken, other knights may turn black. In many cases that will lead to software crash.
This bug is just what makes this game only ranked below 5/10 in STEAM. Most people alerted that this is a potentially good game, but abandoned before this fatal bug is fixed, and people can hardly finish one game toward the end.
Honestly, They need to make an update in the game that allows you to choose your team’s colors. And it can lead to interesting matchups during the fights of the characters wearing different colors. For example: Black vs Red, Blue vs White, maybe even add in extra allegiance colors like Yellow and Green and Purple and Orange. That would be really cool if they add that in the game.

Oh, well that’s a shame. It would be even cool if the allegiances has their own medieval animal design patterns on their faction color that would be on a select screen. Like for example, green faction having a griffon as their mascot symbol, red having a lion, yellow having a falcon or eagle, blue having a dragon symbol, purple having a Warhorse design, etc.
Just thought I could share ideas for the color factions for chess and their mascot symbols being medieval and represent for each color faction in chess.
