Old answer but, for their first attempt at 3D, I'd say it was a success, the game in itself isn't bad at all, not perfect, but they were moving into the right direction here, the only thing I kinda disliked here was the weapons, not the idea, but the implementation, once drawn, you couldn't combo anymore, so it basically slowed you down, for me, it was a combo finisher and them a projectile right after that...

Kai was awesome. And I actually wouldn’t mind seeing Reiko return in the new rebooted MK series to see what they could do with him. Jarek I don’t care about though. But seriously, Kai is bad ass. I can imagine Kai in a modern game. He’d probably do capoeira with some shaolin kung fu mixed in or something.

Remember that it was the mid 90's; back then tons of developers with famous franchises were facing the huge pressure to convert their games into 3D. While some were successful, others weren't so lucky. MK4 is one of the latter, but at least it isn't without it's good points, the clunky animation was unintentionally hilarious and some fatalities were quite over-the-top (Quan-Chi's ripping-guy's-leg-and-beating-him-with-it finisher was awesome!). and you also got to consider that at least it's not deadly alliance.
@@SaitohYatate It would be better if Netherrealm Studios should actually return more of the realistic human 2D sprites inspired by the klassic MK games from 1 to 4 for the kharacters and less 3D than it should be.
Why anyone thought even in it's own time that these 3D models were any good? Why even bother making a game with technology only capable for this? Should have went with 2D until technology was good enough to make decent looking human models... and I am not talking with only the sight I have on it now, I did not like how this looked back then in my childhood either.
Compared to the other Mortal Kombats, the graphics in this version was just horrible. I played it quite a bit in my teens (it was one of the first PS1 games I had). But reflecting back, it appears Midway rushed it to production.
this is the most complex mortal kombat. it is fast and if mastered you can have a sensation that you are playing chess. too bad that there is not an online version of this.

Blogsanjay shinnok was a God and managed to bypass the rules of mk. He had almost invaded eartg before be punished to hell by Rayden. Also, he help Shao Khan on orchestrating the near invasion of earth by helping in the resurrection of sindel.
