Twenty-five years ago I traveled to Trinidad and Tobago. I ate some rose apples but the home owner didn't have a name for them and I've tried to figure it out for years. Thank you for solving the mystery for me. Love your channel:)
I'm glad you finally found out what it's called. Now I wonder what they call it in Trinidad and Tobago...Lol
The color of the berries is so beautiful.
I can't take my eyes off that color. Looks absolutely tempting to eat. Lol!
I looove jambo! Had a massive one in my front yard. Big dark red jambos, very sweet and very juicy. Flowers, young leaves and fruits are edible. Pink flowers that create a pink carpet underneath the tree and you. Can make a great juice out of them. Jambo and jaboticaba trees are my favorites.
The Myrtle family has so many wonderful fruits!
They do! At least for the 60 kinds of Lilly Pilly they are all edible, but not all are palatable.
They are planted as a hedge in many places in Sydney Australia & other cities I'm sure. Very easy to find during a walk down the road here.
Anyone walk by and grab a few to snack on?
Wendi Phan I’ve picked some once for my sister when she was expecting she was craving them and the next door office building had a long hedge of them in full ripeness I ask the building manager there which helped me pick a big bag full.
I used to pick those and eat them when I was a kid but I can't remember who had that tree in my neighborhood. We used to go from house to house picking fruit and eating a lot of it before it got home with me 😊 I wish I could remember.
I love your videos sweetie. I want to grow everything. You make it look so easy. 🤩
Can't wait to get mine growing big enough to fruit! Thanks for watching!
They are so beautiful! I have a Lilly Pilly tree here in England. I have to keep it inside during the Winter as it is not hardy enough to stay outside. I really hope I will get to taste the berries soon.
BEAUTIFUL RIBERRY LILLY PILLY YES THEY ARE OUR BUSH TUCKA.
Oh my goodness I haven't ate those since my child hood I used to eat them my our neighbors home . Thanks for bringing me wonderful memories from my youth I will look for them now that I know the name of the fruit . 🥰🙌🙌🙌🙌
That's lovely. :) Thank you for sharing. Hugs.
Thank you so much for the information!! I have two of these bushes in my garden, but I never knew the fruits were edible. Now, I can finally try them!!
It’s so exciting when you find out you’ve been growing food all this time. Haha :D
Lol these have been growing for over 40 years in my back yard here in L.A. I pick up a pound or so a day from the ground so they don’t stain my carpet. I think I have a couple in pots growing in my collection.
How cool! Thanks for sharing this!!
Can you please describe it's taste in comparison to some similar fruit, maybe a mulberry, or a blueberry?
Texture of watermelon and taste of apple. Lightly sweet, tart at the end, smells a bit like rose, clove and nutmeg to me.
@@wendiland oh my god. Sadly, i don't have any of these anywhere in India.
I rinse the take out thr pitts and store thrm in jars covered in local honey and freeze
I ate those when I was a little kid. I always thought it was a mini wax jambu! They are good but too bad they're a little small.
Yes thoes are actually a beautiful fruit thx 4 sharing
Had you ever tasted the malay apple! It produces this beautiful hot pink flowers 🤩
(Syzygium malaccense)
I used to eat those all the time, in South Los Angeles. Tangy and sweet…..
I now have a house and in the back yard we have 5 trees
How much fruits do you get from them approx? Do you make jelly with them!?
My family came to Australia 3 years ago and on the way to school I saw these and I was like holy fck their tiny jambu I picked a ton and I ate em
Hahhaa I would have thought the same!!
my fairy garden would have lilly pilly and beautyberries. What about you all?
Would you have the seeds for sale?
I'd better do a walk around my area to see if any of my neighbours are growing it.
Hi Miss you are looking good 👍
Thank you. Good to see you here as well!
@@wendiland hi miss wendi. 70s in Las Vegas
Sounds like it is similar to a crabapple tree.
Would love to try crabapple one day. From pics, they look more dense and firm than Riberry.
I was always told they are poisonous...
I read all Lilly Pilly varieties are edible, but not all are palatable.
Maybe they tried to eat it, found it bitter and assumed it was poisonous. (My elders).
MAKOPA?
They are related.
Tropical cranberries? haha
