I have some cuddle duds long thermal underwear that I love and I wore out a pair. I feel inspired to cut those apart and try this. It seems like a doable project for a Newbie sewer. I'm 56 but it's never too late to learn. Thanks for the inspiration.
I have been watching many of your older videos tonight. I will say that you have inspired me to take up sewing 🧵 I haven’t made myself anything in probably 40 years, BUT! Why not now 🤩 I have borrowed a sewing machine from a friend so let’s get to it!! 🤗 Thank You 😊
Thank you, I need to go break out my sewing machine. My favourite bike shorts are about to give up. No idea why I ever bought them but I loved wearing them under skirts. I love your idea about buying old sheets for skirts too. Maybe I’ll wear skirts more often since they’ll be roomy - and pockets! 😍
I Just found your channel yesterday and i love your video's i cant stop watching! You also look very beautiful ,Great skin beautiful Hair and eyes and love your style of clothes!!
Another great sewing video Heidi. I enjoy watching and listening to your style of teaching. All of your time and efforts are much appreciated. You're a real sweet heart. Tune out the negative and keep on with all the positive.
I am so glad I found this video, because I do need to replace most of my leggings because they are falling apart. I wear them for the same reason you do.
Wow -- another terrific video. This will be so helpful in having leggings that fit right -- not too tight, and the waist size is comfortable. And economical too. Your tip about starting to sew from the middle of the waistband fabric is excellent. Thank you for all this information!
Hello Heidi, I came across your patchwork skirts last night and I love it, love it, love it! I also saw the lovely jersey/cardigan/tops that you crochet/knit, it is so beautiful, the colours you put together, I just want to make them for myself!!! My name is Marietjie and I am from South Africa!! Is there a possibilitythat you can share your crochet patterns with me!! Clearly you will my women out of all our pant wear ladies! Last year I decided I would make mtself dresses because it is time to leave the pants behind. 7 Weeks ago I had a trapezuim excition removal in my left hand and cannot do much, so I start surfing and now I am motivated to change a few working ideas! You kbow years ago when I buy sheets, I bought a fitted sheet and a flat sheet because that was how we made up the bed, but as time goes by, the fkatsheet was tuck away, not that I stop buyibg them, I have two bags full, as well as two bags full of frills that I also di not use anymore, could not decide what to do, even though I do patchwork and quilting, now I feel there is a light! Thank you so much for sharing your ideas with us I really appreciate it! Have a good day and may the good Lord bless you abundantly, not because you are good (although you are), but because God is good, all the time!! Love!!!💝🌷
Last year I gathered links to as many of the patterns for the sweaters I have made and put them in one place since none of those patterns are my own: www.patreon.com/posts/free-crochet-64638193
Over the years I've gotten into the habit of creating each leg of a pair of pants or leggings and leaving one right-side-out and one inside-out then slipping one into the other, pinning then sewing. Seems to take less time for me and comes out with the same result. I have been intrigued by your skirts but never taken to them myself because in summer skirts make me too hot and I thought they'd be too cold in winter. Your leggings seem to be the perfect solution! Your method won't work for a non-dancer/athletic person's body but I love how logical it is! I completely agree with you on preferring 100% cotton fabric. Modern blends are just awful. Thank you, Heidi for such great informative videos.
I have also been making more skirts of solid flannel for winter, LOVE them, so warm and cozy! :D By the way, I have plenty of full figured ladies that have bought my skirts, for some, that is all they wear now :D
I love leggings under my skirts! This is a great video. Ignore negative people. I really enjoy and appreciate your videos. I'm constantly telling people guess what I learned from Heidi on rain country. I tell everybody to check out your vids. They are greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much! I love watching your videos. Homesteading is a dream of mine, but I cannot keep plants alive! I used this video to give me the courage to make some pajama pants out of a flannel sheet I bought at the thrift store! I have recently felt led to work on my modesty, and I am trying. I have always been a jeans or legfings kinda gal, but so far i am enjoying the skirts and aprons. I am going to attempt your skirt next with some sheets I have stocked up!
Thank you for sharing Carrie! Yes, we are all at different stages in our growth and no one has "arrived" and we also each have to find what works best for us in both functionality and modesty. As we are willing to grow and learn, God will show us where we need to change. I know for me it has been a long process of change. I do not know how many times my wardrobe had to morph through the years! hahaha
Those who can draft patterns can make a pants pattern to measure but without seam allowance, that makes a garment that is snug if sewed in streach fabric.
Thank you for showing us how to make these. On to find your skirt videos! I have some old duster type shirts that I like to wear. They were given to me several years ago and are getting quite worn. I’m not trained in sewing and have only the memories of the wrap around skirt and one on stage shirt I made for a friend from home economics in junior high. I really don’t want to rip apart one of those dusters for a pattern but since I can only find house coat duster patterns I may have to break down and do it unless you have any ideas? You are very inspiring to me and I always look forward to seeing your videos. God is good, all the time. Blessings to you and your family.
I cannot really give you any other ideas on the duster but if you take it apart carefully enough, you should be able to stitch it back together, usually such things are easier to put together than to take apart
My aloe's do that occasionally, too. You do NOT LOOK TIRED. Some people think everyone has to look cookie cutter same or something's wrong. Your lighting often gives you shadows that inexperienced or opinionated folks think makes you look tired. When vids are at different angle to lights. as in a cross light. It usually cuts the shadows. I thought you looked that way at first till I remembered Shelly talking about how they kept messing up her lighting on stage in High School. & what they needed to do to fix it. Personally I like your lighting. Makes me feel at home Not at a production. Keep plugging at the vids. WE love you & them.
:-O Looks like I'm FIRST!!! :-D Good morning Heidi :-D You always make it look so easy! Shortly after I was married (roughly a hundred years ago), I discovered my husband had a pair of pajamas that was ripped in the seam (IN. THE. SEAM.) from the crotch to the ankle. I took them to my mom's to use her sewing machine, thinking: *How HARD can this BE?* Looong story short, I sewed the legs together. My mom still laughs about that to this day! For mending, I do OK with a needle and thread and I actually enjoy it. To me, a clothing pattern looks like a blueprint to a house. I have been blessed with many gift areas, but, sewing is NOT one of them. In a SHTF scenario, I would have to make my clothes out of lumber. Love & prayers :-D
Kathleen Zimmerman BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA YOU NUT!!! I almost peed my pants laughing! Well can ya stitch me a pair out of pine please? Least if I gotta hunt my grub I’ll blend with the forest! No need for deer 🦌 pee! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤪🤪
I have a rotary cutter (and board) but just never liked it but I DO have a 4' measuring stick that I use often but did not think of using it to hold the lycra while cutting so that is a great idea!
You amaze me time and again, anything you makes looks so easy..... Never mind the aloe, my daughter's (used to be mine) gets neglected and yet it grows like a super weed!!!!!
I should show the aloe on the otherside of the room, I really need to get a bigger pot, the thing is huge! But yeah, sometimes the poor things get forgotten in my busy room there but they like it in that room better than they do in my tiny living room where I would be more apt to pay attention to them. haha
Rain Country they seem to do well with little attention, my daughter's grows huge! I cut the huge ones off and froze them so I can make some shampoo :-) mine never grow that big, though this used to be mine!
Hello I was just going through some of your sewing videos today and it has inspired me to use up some fabric I have. I do have a question....I was gifted a few totes full of scarfs one tote is 100% merino wool scarfs and the other tote is 100% cashmere scarfs. I'm not much of a scarf wearer but I would like to somehow repurpose these...do you have any ideas what they would be useful for? Thank you
They could make a lovely winter patchwork skirt which I will link you to the most recent video on that where I give tips but also direct you back to the full how to playlist: ruclips.net/video/k5WSYz4QMQk/видео.html
I always have to wear a slip when I wear a skirt, I always think of Princess Di in that picture that mean photographer took of her...poor thing. I think those leggings would be much more comfortable than panty hose... which I miserably wear also. It all makes the skirt wearing experience not so pleasant being larger it is uncomfortable at times. Your projects are all lovely and well thought out you have a real talent for putting color combos together. If I wasn't so large I would get one of your skirts. Do you use slips sorry not trying to be personal. I wonder if other ladies often do and do they still wear hose or stockings. I am so old fashioned. Sue
I initially did when I switched to skirts just out of habit but found with the fullness of the skirts, they were really unnecessary and all my solid skirts are dark in color and thick enough fabric to not be see through and the patchwork ones are even fuller than my solids and the patterns hide a lot, even on the thinner fabrics.
Hi i love ur skirts! I wear them full time also and was just wondering do you wear leggings in the summer also underneath? Lately ive noticed ive had trouble with the wind blowing my skirts and have been looking for aomething to remedy this situation. It gets really hot in texas but im looking for suggestions to stay modest. Are these leggings cool in summer?
I do put them up on my store but both aprons and skirts sell out within a day or two, often within an hour of putting them up. Best way to secure one is to custom order one through my store.
That is very interesting. Instead of the shorter front coming from the pattern, you cut it from the waistband. You're so laissez-faire about this, it's making me feel like I might actually be able to do sewing. I mean, I'm gonna try anyway, but you give me hope. lol
🐝🌻🐝🐝Heidi ! I love those leggings! 🌻🐝🌻🌻 I missed your vids due to a project I've been on but I am getting ready to make some kaftans, these will be perfect for underneath ...thanks woman!🐝🎨🐝🐝
Whoopsie I like all my leggings to hug my posterior if I don't have to fight with them a little bit I wear them inside to bed and around the house or cut them off. I sometimes go commanding with them also 😂😂😂 I wish I could reverse engineer some bras from some years ago like you did these because they all are so weird and painfully made now. Maybe that can be your next sewing video.
I actually already have a video out on the "bra" that I make for myself and these are all I wear now, I love them. ruclips.net/video/4xsJwjYQROc/видео.html
And if you aren't already into 'Leggings', you could use your rattiest pair of Pyjama bottoms, or even a pair of Shorts then extend the leg length (be careful to match the angle of the shorts as you go down the leg)? If you really don't want to cut your clothes up, then you can trace around them, I use an old spare roll of wallpaper to make my own paper patterns out of. It's great for bottoms because you can get the legs right without a load of messing around taping bits of paper together, & it's strong enough to not fall to pieces after a couple of uses. Would you advise people new to any kind of 'Trouser' sewing, whether they follow the pattern exactly or they cut a looser fit like yours that they sew the two legs together starting at the Crotch Cross Seam NOT from Waistband to Waistband, I find when I've been away from sewing 'Legs' that going middle to front & middle to back, means I'm less likely to end up with a Rubiks Cube of unwearable bottoms. Is the fabric rolling up at the cut edge peculiar to the 4-way stretch fabric or is it it same in any 'knit' fabric like your T-shirt fabric used here. This is a great video Thanks Heidi,
I just now am seeing the rest of that comment, you must have been adding to it when I first saw it! haha! That is actually a great idea, or they could simply pin it all in place to make sure it lines up correctly, whatever works best for someone. The rolling is most common on the four way stretch, I have little issue with t-way stretch. The wallpaper idea is brilliant!! I just may need to make myself a pattern that I can use again and again and I think I may have some old wallpaper around here. It just so happens that this pair of leggings I made in this video are the best fitting pair I have made yet and would like to duplicate it so I had better go hunt down that paper! ha
Rain Country Yes I was lol. It happens because instead of copying & deleting the question I just thought of I press Enter accidentally. Then a bit further on in the Video I think of another. Problem is if I wait to the end I forget half of what I mean to ask you.
Probably would, but we live in a pretty cool climate with very really warm days. Even then though, I am so used to the layers that I still wear leggings under my skirts and it does not bother me.
I really didn’t mean anything....I’m 65 and old heifers kinda say what they are thinking without thinking first.. I’m a flower person so I noticed the plant . I just told my 52 year old sister she was over watering her jade plants......I love everything you do that’s why I watch....those skirts you make are awesome... any way sweetie I’m so very sorry.
Thank you Vivian and I know you are being real with me and that you fully meant well, you did nothing wrong dear lady!, Again, I apologize for my hypersensitivity, I was letting other things get to me and I should have just taken some time to get my emotions in order before reading any more comments. I truly appreciate you taking your time with us and for your kindness.
I try to stay away from such unnatural fabrics next to my skin, the ones I make myself fit much better than any I have ever bought and are far more comfortable, BUT to each her own. Find what works for you. I just try to help people to find a more frugal way to do it themselves
Good for you!!! We prefer not to break out. To each their own though. Maybe you’d like to learn how to make homemade salve or soap? It’ll help any possible break outs from the sweat not being wicked away in the lycra? Or maybe these homemade, frugal, natural channels aren’t really what your looking for? I’m certain that’s it. I’m sure we could happily help you find a channel more suited for your tastes. Possibly something with the Kardashian’s in it? They seem more suited to your needs based on your comments.
I needed this video! I love wearing leggings under my skirts, but can never find any long enough to stay at my ankles or up on my waist. Just like you, I can't stand the spandex and lycra kinds they have these days. I'm off to to check out ruclips.net/video/Kd90Bx2w5Lo/видео.html Thank you so much for sharing all your wonderful knowledge!
O never mind, I knew someone would comment on my aloe vera, it was drying out because I had waited too long to water it. I have a hard time remembering my plants in there as when I am in that room, I am focused on a task. Either way, this is not about my plants it is about how to making your own clothes so I do hope you got something more from this than my lack of taking good care of my aloe veras - which by the way, I do have several that are doing amazingly well
I apologize too, I had just got a rude comment from another person who never has anything nice to say to me and so I was feeling irritated. It is not you and you were right, my aloe is looking a bit sad! haha!
Yeah, that other person who goes by the ambiguous name of John Doe and can hide behind the safety of their computer screen keeps telling me how tired I look all the time. Not the worst thing anyone can say but that is ALL they ever say. Do I really look THAT bad?! I do feel bad I took Vivian's comment wrong though - I do not think I would have had I not just read that other person's comment.
I just love how you fearlessly dive into these projects! You have inspired me! ❤️. God IS good, all of the time and for all eternity.

and All of the time God is Good!!!
I would use these for pajama bottoms too. I'm glad to know where to get the material too. I thought 100% cotton was long gone.
I thought so too. I am so excited to try this.

Excellent tutorial. I am so going to do this. I have a hard time finding leggings that are long enough
Glad this was helpful Toni!
♥ I wear tights under all my skirts then boots & layers in winter, but always tights all year long! God Bless! ♥
:-O Looks like I'm FIRST!!! :-D
Good morning Heidi :-D
You always make it look so easy! Shortly after I was married (roughly a hundred years ago), I discovered my husband had a pair of pajamas that was ripped in the seam (IN. THE. I have been blessed with many gift areas, but, sewing is NOT one of them. In a SHTF scenario, I would have to make my clothes out of lumber.
Love & prayers :-D
O man, thank you SO much for that laugh this moring! I needed that!
hahahahahaha. I can sew so much better by hand than with a machine which is strange.
Adorable! I think I will knit you some leggins, Kathleen 😅
((((((((((((Heidi)))))))))))))))
It an awesome skill to have, to be able to make your own clothes absolutely superb
Have you ever thought of getting a rotary cutter and long acrylic ruler? It would make cutting the lycra much easier.
I have a rotary cutter (and board) but just never liked it but I DO have a 4' measuring stick that I use often but did not think of using it to hold the lycra while cutting so that is a great idea!
Thank you for these practicle, simple, handy ideas that are quick too. I wonder how this would work for the men in the house? ☺
Ty so much this will solve a big problem with my skins reaction to my legging. & . Cuddle duds that I wear under Skirts...
You amaze me time and again, anything you makes looks so easy.....

Rain Country darn, looking over all replies and stuff here, I need to water my jungles!!!!!
Rain Country they seem to do well with little attention, my daughter's grows huge! I cut the huge ones off and froze them so I can make some shampoo :-) mine never grow that big, though this used to be mine!
Another awesome suggestion…also keeps bug bites away!!
Love this!
Oh wow, right up my alley, thanks so much.
Will have to try and make some. Thank you and God bless
That was fun. Thanks
Hello I was just going through some of your sewing videos today and it has inspired me to use up some fabric I have.
I do have a question....I was gifted a few totes full of scarfs one tote is 100% merino wool scarfs and the other tote is 100% cashmere scarfs.

Thank you for being awesome!
That is sweet, thank you Ali!
Toda for kind information.
Thank you. Enjoyed.
You're AWESOME Heidi, thank you for sharing this video. I can't wait to try making myself a pr of these ;) Have a Blessed day
You are so very welcome and thank you too! :D
what happened to the link for the fabric you like from amazon
This video is old and that fabric is long gone now and I find it very difficult to find these days.

If I had a 10th of your talent I’d take over the universe!!!! Bwahahaha
Would love to get a apron and skirt from you! Please. Your etsy store doesn't have any...
I do put them up on my store but both aprons and skirts sell out within a day or two, often within an hour of putting them up. Best way to secure one is to custom order one through my store.
Rain Country how do I do that? By the way...I'm so glad I found your channel...I enjoy them and learn so much from them!
Look for the orange "Request a custom order" button on my store page. It is on the bottom left
Rain Country thank you!

Sorry, it's another long one. Does that Cotton Knit fray at all or is it just the curl you have to deal with?
@@essemsween818 I do the same exact thing.
I refer my wifes leggings to butt pants
Im gonna have to take this video to grandma and get hands on help 😄
As a note, I'm pretty sure all your layers would kill me down here in AL. It's so hot outside. So. Hot.
I rather buy them. I like the Lycra last longer and fit better
Rain Country Good points!
Love #leggingsaholic
I needed this video! I love wearing leggings under my skirts, but can never find any long enough to stay at my ankles or up on my waist. Just like you, I can't stand the spandex and lycra kinds they have these days. I'm off to to check out ruclips.net/video/Kd90Bx2w5Lo/видео.html Thank you so much for sharing all your wonderful knowledge!
That lycra stuff, I wore that for years when teaching dance and it did not bother me then, now...ugh!!! These light thermal knit ones are SO comfy! :)
Too much water in the alo.
What?
O never mind, I knew someone would comment on my aloe vera, it was drying out because I had waited too long to water it. I have a hard time remembering my plants in there as when I am in that room, I am focused on a task. Either way, this is not about my plants it is about how to making your own clothes so I do hope you got something more from this than my lack of taking good care of my aloe veras - which by the way, I do have several that are doing amazingly well
Don’t get mad... I’m just an old b**ch that notices plants in the background...I promise I didn’t mean it ugly.
I apologize too, I had just got a rude comment from another person who never has anything nice to say to me and so I was feeling irritated. It is not you and you were right, my aloe is looking a bit sad! haha!
Rain Country Heidi, please block the constant naysayers, they are just poison and you throw your pearls before........
We love you, sad aloe or not!
