Enjoying your adventures. I'm getting ready for retirement. My retirement accounts are 25% stocks for growth and smaller dividends and 75% dividend etfs'. Growing quickly. Thanks for posting.
Love how transparent you both are! Don't sweat it with the youtube income... most channels don't make a high "click bait" amount. The fact that you enjoy it is the most important thing. The tax deductions make it nice because you are now traveling, so you should be able to write off every penny and clear that amount tax free!
It really is amazing how little RUclips pays. Maybe if you start jumping off buildings, your income will increase. You make a good point though about having a few different streams of income. This is also our thinking. Our channel is mostly about starting and running a plant nursery as a retirement business. Thanks for all your great videos, Larry
Agree about the transparency. Really nice to see a truthful down to earth video. You guys have done well. 5000$ budget is a decent budget to enjoy retirement.
Thanks, Larry!! Lol, maybe we should consider adding some danger to the videos! That may help 😉 The different streams are key to staying flexible in our minds...so we hope that it will work out as we have envisioned!!
Thank you, Frank! We wanted to let people see the numbers so they could judge for themselves if these streams would work! We hope they continue to grow 😉
We are so glad that it is useful for yourself and others! This is exactly why we make the videos, to help others realize that there is an alternative to "normal" retirement! Hope you have a great week.
I appreciate you two making this video. Very inspirational. I'm 56 and really want to retire. I currently have no debt and have 1.1 million in an investment portfolio and about 80,000 in a high yield savings account. It is a bit scary to think of walking away from the work force at this stage in my life, but you guys have inspired me. Thank you.
It is definitely hard to leverage. You have been working your whole life, and that's what you know. But we can tell you we do not regret leaving work... at all! 😊
I've been following your channel since you started around 3 years ago. I'm glad you two hit your goal this year and retired early. I hit FIRE two years ago at the age 42, but stayed at my job for another year. I left my job during October 2023. I'm still in the US, but plan to live overseas for a while. Some of my assets are similar to yours, but my dividend stocks pretty much is my income. A portion of my net profit from rental properties are reinvested into my ETFs, index, and dividend funds. Fortunately, my rental properties are in areas where rent prices are high. Also, I was among the lucky Dogecoin folks and cashed out at its high during 2022. This was what really drove me way over my FIRE number.
You're coming up on one year retired! Congratulations! How does it feel? Dividends are our favorite thing at the moment! 😉 We definitely recommend living abroad for some of the time... you get to explore new places, try new things, and depending on where you decide to go, you can also save a lot of money! Is there any place in particular you would want to go first?
@HappyPenguin75034 They also stated it includes proceeds from the house in Canada. That may make it seem somewhat more attainable for others wanting to do the same. Still very impressive in only six years!
@@FIREWeGo Of course, one day I would want to retire early as well with at least 4 income streams as you shown. I’ve been retired since 39. I am now 57 with a $3m+ net worth. Besides my pension, I also have several streams of monthly income so that I have yet to even touch my retirement savings.
The income symtays in Brazil to cover expenses at the condo and cover our living expenses when we are here visiting. Our accountant also uses the tax paid here on our tax returns in Canada.
Congratulations! That is a huge achievement. And by reinvesting your dividends, you'll onky be in a better position once you're ready with your plan for the next stage! Again, amazing job!
We have a dividend playlist where we shared it up to the end of 2023. Now, we are sharing this in our membership area if you're interested in joining our community! 😊
Great video, so do you not have a residence home anymore? Do you just rent like Airbnb type for your life now? Did you sell your house and add the proceeds to the investment account? Thanks, great video
Thank you for reaching out! You're right. We sold our principal residence in Canada and invested the money. Most went to top up our TFSA accounts, and the remainder went into our margin accounts. We still have our rental property in Brazil, but for the most part, we will be staying in Airbnbs and Hotels 🤗
@@FIREWeGo nice, that now enables you to travel full time!. Did the house sale make up most of the capital to provide your dividends or did you do a lot of saving income too?
Great video! I visit Brazil twice a year from Canada and would like to buy an investment property there. Any website recommendation to review listings to get an idea about the market?
Very nice! Which part of Brazil is your favorite? We are looking at doing a video on options here in Joao Pessoa for rentals. We are just getting it set up so stay tuned!
I appreciate the content and transparency. I’m also set to save up to 1mil cash to retire and end the rat race. It might take me 10 years though lol kudos to you guys
Thank you so much! And don't worry, the hardest part of setting yourself up for financial success is developing a plan and beginning to implement it. Once you get started, you'll be amazed at the growth and speed that you'll achieve!
We do have two income etfs that provide higher yields, but the majority are in regular Canadian blue-chip stocks. We do a dividend income breakdown in our membership if you're interested!
Your story is awesome! Curious how you handle income tax. I’ve maxed all the registered accounts (rrsp and tfsa) but still have a 7k tax bill each year since I have gics in non registered accounts that aren’t that tax efficient unfortunately. I assume since most of your income is from dividends that are tax most efficiently and you don’t have many non-registered GICs?
That is an amazing goal!!! Good for you, you'll definitely see the beauty of compounding taking effect soon! We are so glad that the videos have been helpful. Thank you so much for watching!
I love that you used actual numbers!! I retired in March too and have a similar financial situation (minus the RUclips!) and am living on dividends/interest currently. Sorry if you already covered this, but do you also have IRAs or any retirement accounts??
Congratulations on your retirement!! Are you loving it? We do have retirement accounts in Canada, RRSP, and a LIRA. Currently, they are invested with growth etfs, and we won't be pulling from them for several years! We are thinking we may do a portfolio breakdown soon!
I am loving it! I am basically the same age as you, and so have a long time before I will draw from my retirement accounts too. My best decision was selling my house/car. Immediate savings! 😊
Well done, guys 👏 i am a uk 🇬🇧 dividend investor .i retired 2 yrs ago, aged 53. The f100 uk market has a lot of high yield multinationals, so you can get 7-10 % yields fairly safely. My portfolio is around 900k sterling, which generates around 50k with around 150k in growth etfs and stocks.not paying any dividends. 👍
Great video, so inspirational . Small question. Out of the 1 million you have put in dividend stocks, what % of that value was your own savings, and what % came out of your house sale. And secondly , are you now full time based out of Brazil ? Thank you .
Hello! Thanks for the comment. It was around 50% from the house. We had been investing a lot of the equity in the house since 2020, and what was remaining after clearing the mortgage and HELOC went into dividends as well. The rest was savings. We aren't based full-time in Brazil. We will only spend a few months here every year or so. The remainder of the time the condo is rented out.
Just came across you channel. Been catching up watching older videos and love the content. I do have a question for you both if I may. How do your dividend payments get to your bank accounts? Is it automatically deposited or do you have to transfer the funds manually each month? Thanks Subscribed and looking forward to your future videos
Thanks for subscribing! 😁 So, we have to manually move the money each month from our brokerage accounts to our bank accounts. We are not sure if there are options out there to see if this can be done automatically. That would be great!
Hi Thanks for a great video May you share which stock paying good and stable dividends? I’m 38 and working towards to an early retirement at 55, I invested in vanguard index atm
Index funds are also great, we have a few of them for growth! We discuss our dividends stocks and portfolio on our membership site if you're interested!
Great question. It is currently paid off, but when we purchaesd the property, we actually financed it directly with the builder and not through a bank. That saved a lot of headaches! Now we are free if any debt on the condo, other than the monthly carrying cost of condo fees and utilities.

@@FIREWeGo Thank you so much 🙏
Can you share which dividend stocks you choose to invest in or what criteria you look for in buying a stock? This is the stage my husband and I are at right now. And talking him into buying a rental property :)
Sure! We have an older playlist regarding our dividend income, and if you are looking for recent information, we began sharing that on our membership videos at the beginning of the year!
I’ve been retired since 39. I am now 57 with a $3m+ net worth. Besides my pension, I also have several streams of monthly income so that I have yet to even touch my retirement savings.
This is amazing, great job!
Congrats. What kind of pension? I would think military( or military credit) or a type of disability pension if you retired at 39?
congratulations. Can u share your multiple streams of income?
Do you receive Dividend Income throughout the year as well?
Thank you! It was a Police Service pension 😉
Gean!!! I think we worked together at apotex! Small world wow - good to see you doing well :)
Such a small world!! Send us an email at firewego@gmail.com. I would love to hear from you!
Keep smiling guys
Ahh, thank you!! We definitely will, and we hope the same for you!
I appreciate this video for sure I’m 26 I feel like I seen a blueprint
What a nice compliment! You have lots of time to make all of your dreams reality, too!!
How do you bring the income from Brazil into Canada . Wouldn’t the tax hit hard
The income symtays in Brazil to cover expenses at the condo and cover our living expenses when we are here visiting. Our accountant also uses the tax paid here on our tax returns in Canada.
nicely done! how does taxes work for you guys?
Thank you! For taxes, we are still filing in Canada as we won't be in any other country long enough to be considered residents!
I am FI right meow, but, have not created a plan to retire early. So, I work still, and re-invest my dividends.
Congratulations! That is a huge achievement. And by reinvesting your dividends, you'll onky be in a better position once you're ready with your plan for the next stage! Again, amazing job!
Thank you for the info. Can you please share what dividend stocks and how much in each you have? Thanks
Thanks for sharing your different stream of income. It's inpirational
You're so welcome! We hope that,it helps you guys for sure ☺️
Thanks for sharing!! 😊
You're so welcome!
Do you know your cash-on-cash yield for the rental property?
I’m curious to compare to other real estate opportunities I’m considering.
No, we do not. Sorry about that 😕
Great info
Thanks so much!
Congratulations 🎊🎈🍾🎉 (plus this video should rocket up that youtube generated income for y’all!)
Lol, that would be fantastic!!! 🤗
Tour the Condo and neighborhood video please.
That's a good idea! Will try to get that done for you guys!
Congrats, new sub.. retired early because you are rich, wish I was smarter decades ago, playing catch up...
Thanks for joining us! We had to play catch up as well... it wasn't too long ago that we had a bunch of debt and really no savings at all!
Hello, I'm curious about how much you pay for medical insurance.
Hi there! We pay about 324 cad through SafetyWing
How are you getting such a high dividend return? A good return is 4%. Are you doing high leverage? REIT? Pipelines?
"Good return is 4%" who wrote that law? Look into Yieldmax etfs, 4% good my ass
You are correct! We don't have GICs, and the dividends we have in our margin accounts are all Canadian dividends, so they're pretty efficient!
@@FIREWeGo thank you for your quick reply and congratulations again! 😀
@willkeen5010 thank you!! We appreciate your support for sure 😊
How do you deal with health insurance coverage? Do you go to private insurers? Thanks. 🙏
We use Safety Wing! So far, it has been great. There is a link below if you would like to check it out! And we did a video on it a few weeks ago 😊
I am In my 30s and trying to invest at least $55k per year. Your channel has been a motivation for me the last couple of years
That is an amazing goal!!! Good for you, you'll definitely see the beauty of compounding taking effect soon! We are so glad that the videos have been helpful. Thank you so much for watching!
Holy smokes!, that is amazing !
Thanks !
$55k yearly is Impressive, no doubt you'll increase your savings as you get older
If two of you monthly travel budget is $4000. Is $2500 going to be enough for solo travel budget? Thanks.
It may be, it would depend on how long you stay in one place, where you want to travel to, etc!
That is fantastic! Congratulations!
Thanks
Subscribed and looking forward to your future videos
Thanks for subscribing! 😁 So, we have to manually move the money each month from our brokerage accounts to our bank accounts. We are not sure if there are options out there to see if this can be done automatically. That would be great!
@@FIREWeGo thanks so much for the response
You're so welcome!
Hi
Thanks for a great video
May you share which stock paying good and stable dividends? I’m 38 and working towards to an early retirement at 55, I invested in vanguard index atm
Index funds are also great, we have a few of them for growth! We discuss our dividends stocks and portfolio on our membership site if you're interested!
Do you have mortgage on your rental property?
Great question. It is currently paid off, but when we purchaesd the property, we actually financed it directly with the builder and not through a bank. That saved a lot of headaches! Now we are free if any debt on the condo, other than the monthly carrying cost of condo fees and utilities.
