OC ended up releasing the G2 pit that has the insulated firebox along with a smoke collector and extended stack. Baffle in the cook chamber from the firebox is also removable. I had just bought the OC brazos a few months ago the earlier and made similar modifications, oh well, still works great. Thanks for video!

The one I cooked on was a prototype that was shared with the dealer. The food comes out the same, but the pit was much easier to maintain the temperature with the insulated fire box. I'm sure it will be a popular choice for the backyard.

I have a Patriot Pit Freedom 94 on the wagon. It has a partially insulated firebox at the bottom. Between that and the 3/8" thick walls all over, that thing holds coals and temps insanely well. I am excited to see how well it beahves as we head into fall/winter here in Western NY.

WOW! That's a nice looking pit. It has a similar design to my WH 1957 but much bigger like the 1975. That pit ought to cook like a champ. Larger offsets tend to be more stable due to the extra heat mass in all the steel. Be sure to let the channel know how it cooks and your favorite fire management techniques. How long have you had it?

Awesome. I am at a cross between obtaining a Lang or Old Country Offset. I must obtain an offset to compliment my grilling arsenal for my backyard.

After cooking on the Old Country Offset with the insulated fire box, I was impressed. It has the versatility and durability of the Workhorse with the added advantage of less heat loss in the fire chamber. This makes a difference on a small backyard offset where you are burning smaller fires and want to maintain combustion. Without insulation, the fires cool off quicker and combustion stalls. The insulation help hold in that extra heat to quickly start new splits when feeding the fire. I also observed cleaner smoke from the higher retained temperatures.

Both good options for Old Country Pits as well as other independent dealers.

I could not believe how long the Old Country BBQ Pits hybrid cooker held the heat and was able to burn the wood so cleanly. The retained heat in the firebox ensured that the wood burned cleanly even with airflow restricted. It is cooking machine that runs well with less required attention to the fire. Definitely a fine backyard smoker.

How about a BBQ Camp. It is more fun than a competition and you have to cook what they assign you. I love trying the new flavorings and listening to others talk about their BBQ. Mason Dixon BBQ hosts the Bootcamps for the first 24 that sign up. Each person gets to choose from at least 30 different pits. This is a great way to learn great BBQ and to try out different kinds of equipment and seasoning. mdbbqservices.com/ Camps are taught by professional pit masters and competition cooks. The camps are great fun and loads of good BBQ.
