One of the best quotes I've heard in many of these types of videos I've been watching that you say is, (not exactly word for word but), "I'd rather be sober, thinking about wanting to get fucked up sometimes, than be fucked up all the time thinking about getting sober." 🤯🥺🙏

Look mane. This is legit. Fuck yes. 2 years sober Tuesday last week. 2 years ago I was sleeping on a couch for 8 years. Bouncing around from streets to the couch. Dude never in my wildest dreams I would ever believe 2 yeard after being sober. I have a house. Wife. An amazing son. Great job. Dude this shit is real man. More real than people want to believe. Keep it up. Even if it doesn't seem like its getting better. It does bro.

I had an overdose on cocaine when I was 18 and it was so hard being away from it, I lost all my “friends” and was alone but slowly I came back and I’ve been sober for 6 years which is almost when I started listening to you Sam, brother this video mean the world to me thanks for sharing it

Got my 4 month today. God bless u brother. I remember seeing u in like 2012 I think.. at the vibe lounge on long island. There was like 15-20 people there lol. I was doin diesel in the bathroom. Takin shots of jose at the bar with you. It took me YEARS and YEARS to walk away from the needle. The bottle. The xans and the blow. The crack. The pot... I never in my life been sober this long. Keep walking the righteous path sir. We ARE the message of AA

Sam, I’m a heroin addict struggling from the bottom again. I’ve got a little over a week sober and kicking Suboxone, which is one of the worst withdrawals I could have imagined. Seeing this video resonated different with me Sammy. You’re music has always been a comfort to me both in sobriety and while using. Thank you man fucking keep going. You helped this fan right now, not five years from now! All the love man, God (or whatever) bless!

Hope you still going strong bro, I went through the exact same thing. I am from Washington as well. I just put up a music video called Lost in a High, where I detail how I lost my close friend on my birthday to a heroin overdose. It just hit around 50k views, in a few weeks. I was sacred just like you to be so vulnerable, but it was the best thing I did. But the response I have got from people is humbling. I had a coke and alcohol problem as well as similar stories as you and being an artist. I have worked for myself for 7 years and that freedom is dangerous. I found this video just searching for people's stories, I recognized your name cause you're a northwest artist as well, I did some work with raz in the past. Wishing you the best homie.

As someone who sat in your little brother's shoes and watched my brother succumb to the illness that is addiction, I respect and appreciate you way more than I ever have before, Sam. You are a strong person and you give me hope. It would break my heart to hear that your brother had to watch you pass from that addiction, and I'm so glad to see you on the road to being healthy. Much love and respect, Sam.

Thank you Sam, I appreciate you sharing this. Thank you so much for going through this and coming out the other side. Been following you since I was 16 (23 now) and when I found you I was stepping into the same shit with pills and cocaine. I can say that for 4-5 years from 14-18/19 I wasn’t really sober, and I didn’t smoke weed till 18, i was just fucked up on pills. Thankfully I’ve been sober now from all pharmaceuticals/coke for 5 years now, and haven’t looked back since. A little different recovery process but the outcome is still the same:changed lives. So fucking happy I found your music man cuz I’ve got a similar story to you, my younger brother and I loved littlemanbigcity because we’re about the same age apart as you and Charlie. Thank you for everything man you’ve really changed my life for the better. When I didn’t have friends I’d listen to your music, mac miller, and others and I’d have hundreds of hours of people who understood how I felt and thought. I’m grateful you’re here today man, trust yourself that you’re always exactly where you need to be. If you wanna hear about my recovery story it’s on my Instagram @patiencebuildskindness

So much respect for you for coming out so publicly Sam!!! Everything you said hit home 💯 for me. I’m a little over a year sober off of opiates... and Xanax. Shits hard but so worth it... you can do it! Funny thing you said about the song Ambivalent that I felt in my soul was the part about the lyrics saying , “No More Coke or Xanax for me, Alcohol, Marijuana and Pussy is all I need!” - I used to listen to this song and think that this was okay, or doable like you said. I now listen after getting sober and cringe as well. Like wow can’t believe you lied to yourself like that in the midst of your addiction. That part really hit hard for me man! You’re so not alone. And your right.... funny how when the drugs are gone the “friends” you thought you had are gone too. Shows you that they only ever wanted drugs. Proud of you for doing so well and waking up.... Good on you Sam!

The words you just spoke are so similar to my life, I've been trying for so long to kick the dumb shit even though I've had plenty of great times on it. It's time to change! Thank you man, you're the truth keep putting out slaps "popular man" is my favorite song ever! The shit you did with Nacho "cold" so hot or singing "wrong man" with my chick in the wip on road trips. Sam, dude.. I feel you grew up here in Seattle; more the north end but but somehow I put 3 years 10 months and 22 days together. It worked life was good I started drawing again. but then one day I flipped the switch shut AA out. Don't get me wrong I still go to meetings from time to time but its hard to swallow your pride and walk back in see all the faces I closed a door on for a while then they call on you to share. 90-90 saved me once you got me thinking its time to go back things haven't been good for a while. Between play pretend EP and this I'm reminded that I'm not special. thanks for sharing man I know how hard that is to do. An attitude of gratitude will never get you drunk... fuckin' clichés.

This was absolutely amazing Sam, your music is amazing and always has been. But getting sober man. That shit is crazy impressive! I‘ve dealt a lot with the issue of being in my own head as well. And has had me in places where all I wanted to do was be high to take the pain of anxiousness away or the fear of who people might perceive me as away. I vape bud every night to relax and go to bed but I constantly have to slow myself down so I don’t use too much and get depressed. Hearing you not being depressed inspires me cause this last year in the hard moments where you feel numb, all I’ve wanted to do is smile and feel loved by someone. And the less weed I smoke the more I feel I have a genuine smile. Seriously man you’re inspiring this has gotta be the coolest thing ever man again props to you man.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate you sharing this with us. I made the decision today I don't want to drink again. I just got done having a absolute shit weekend and had the eye opening experience that if I don't quit doing something that's killing me and not helping my situation I'm going to end up in trouble or worse. Low and behold I get a recommendation from you about the very thing I came to terms with this morning. I wish you the best on your continued journey and I'm happy I can say I legitimately want to start mine. With already loosing Mac Miller, I'd be upset to see a musician I also have great respect for falling victim to the same demons we all face that comes with being human. Life is tough but we don't need to make it harder on selves. Mad love Sammy

I've always liked your music man, but THIS is what I needed to really hear from you. I've been trying to get sober, I joined a drug and alcohol treatment program, I quit smoking cold turkey three months ago. I've been tricking myself though. I take my u.a. on Saturday and then go out Saturday night and drink and do blow. Once a week.
