Via delle Bocchette - Dolomiti di BRENTA - Classical Brenta crossing in 4 days

- Please note: Despite the fact that the via ferratas are technically medium difficult, all routes are high alpine mountain tours with corresponding dangers. The weather can change spontaneously, snowfall is possible even in summer and depending on the season, the equipment must be chosen accordingly. Therefore, please always check the current conditions beforehand!
Date of our tour: 06 - 09 August 2023
Day 1: Sentiero Benini (B)
Parking: Grostè cable car valley station (as of 2023 35€ for 4 days, garage parking possible).
Quite short stage, more walking than via ferrata sections, nevertheless partly very exposed on the rocky ledges. Descent via Bocca di Tuckett not recommended, better as here via the Sent. B. Dallagiacoma

Day 2: Via Bocchette Alte (B/C)
Long day tour, difficult ascent to Bocca di Tuckett, many vertical segments. Optional descent via Via Ferrata Detassis (C) over countless ladders, in that case keep right before Bocca di Massodi.

Day 3: Via Bocchette Centrale (B/C)
Scenically most beautiful stage, less long, exciting rock bands, variant Nicolini at the end can be bypassed via a ladder.

Day 4: Descent Vallesinella
Tip 1: Take a diversion via Sentiero delle Cascate, many beautiful waterfalls!
Tip 2: Shuttle at Rif. Vallesinella to Madonna or to the Groste valley station (2023: 4€ per pers.)
Valid for all huts:
- Bookable online
- Hut sleeping bag is obligatory, warm blankets available
- Tap water not designated as drinking water (because not controlled), but comes from the surrounding glaciers
- Card payment (conditionally) possible
Rifugio Tuckett: 2272m
115 beds
- No prior room selection possible, DAV discount available.
- Few washing facilities, but unproblematic, no separate men's/women's toilets or washrooms; showers against payment (only very few showers available, 1 at the main hut)
Half-board possible, can be booked on site at check-in; free choice of seats at meals, billing via room & name; breakfast 6:30-8:00, dinner 19:00
Charging facilities in the entrance area, also a few sockets in the bedrooms and dining rooms.
No Wifi, good mobile reception in the hut incl. 4G
Drying room: available (heated at night)
Rifugio Alimonta 2580m
90 beds
room selection in advance (price differences), check-in until 17:00
private hut, therefore no DAV reduction
sufficient communal washing facilities (not separated by men/women), individual unisex toilets; showers against payment (several showers available)

As of 2023, the top floor had not been renovated, the rooms are very dark, light can only be switched on in the evening, some of the beds were completely worn out.

Hallo Julia, die Brenta gehört zu meinen Lieblingsorten. Wenn ich genug Zeit habe, nehme ich die Agostinihütte, den Castiglionisteig, die Apostelhütte, sowie die Brenteihütte mit und gehe dann zur Grostestation zurück. Aber das Vallesinella ist offenbar ja auch mega schön, dort war ich noch nie. Echt tolles Video, umfangreiche Recherche und super Musik. Gerne mehr davon. Viele Grüße aus Bayern

Ich hätte dort auch gerne noch verlängert, war einfach richtig schön. Aber im Nachhinein hätte ich lieber in der Brentei Hütte übernachtet, als in der Pedrotti 😅 die war erst so halb renoviert und wir waren in der obersten, nicht renovierten Etage, mit komplett durchgelegenen Matratzen und halb kaputten Lattenrosten. Die Brentei Hütte dagegen weiter unten ist komplett renoviert und sah einfach richtig schön aus, auch innen. Und ja, gerade der Weg oben durchs Vallesinella war landschaftlich auch nochmal beeindruckend und wunderschön abwechslungsreich, kann ich auf jeden Fall empfehlen wenn es sich anbietet 🙂

@jeremythompson5583 Oktober can be difficult already, the huts mostly close end of September. I know some have Winter rooms but that would require a lot more equipment and planning. Weather could be another issue, you are moving mostly between 2700 and 3000m altitude. Usually the season is just July, August and September 😅
Actually most huts are open end of June until end of September, it might shift a little depending on the weather

Der Bochette war mein erster Klettersteig, ist schon lange her - aber die Bilder der wunderbaren Landschaft sind immer noch im Kopf. Danke fürs Mitnehmen, die Brenta ist einfach mega 🙂
Das stimmt, die Brenta ist echt unglaublich beeindruckend ☺️ wir haben mittlerweile ja schon viele Klettersteige gemacht, und auch wenn die dort nicht sehr schwer waren, habe ich an Landschaft selten sowas spannendes gesehen 🙂
