13:07 Fun fact, that "ice circle" was actually real.. maybe you can check out the behind the scenes of the MV some time😊 also not sure if you guys already know this or not but 'Spring day' and 'Not today' were part of the same album 'You never walk alone'!
I would love to watch you guys react in one video to the official mv and the practice or the behind the scenes. It's possible and all their questions would be answered 😛. But, I've also said before that you could and should do whatever you want, as long as you enjoy the journey. It's impossible to grant all our wishes.
The lyrics speaks of overcoming obstacles and keep fighting, while instilling hope in oneself. RM said he wrote this lyrics for bts so that they don’t stay silent against social issues and injustice. As always, enjoyed the video guys🤩
You guys should check the behind the scene of this MV , it's crazyyyy (and there is not CGI🤫) and also check the dance practice too, is beyond amazing!!!
This song was inspired by LORD OF THE RINGS!!! Crow tits is a common term in bts songs, it’s also a nickname for silver spoon/Baepsae song you liked in the Japan medley. After seeing your reaction to Army singing to BTS at Wembley this is something you might be interested in! I only just found out myself but apparently Army have come together to write a song to BTS which will be released on their 10th Anniversary on 13th of June!
You might know this, but there are quite a few army songs for BTS already. One of my favorites is the one from the year 2020 on Daily Hoping channel (by Gracie Ranan), where almost each line is sung in a different language by a different army. Here's the link, just in case: ruclips.net/video/9zvspV-NUlI/видео.html
There’s also lyrics that are inspired by one of Martin Luther King Jr.’s speeches! “If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward” Martin Luther King Jr.
The term crow tit is often used in BTS’ songs. It comes from the Korean saying ‘A crow tit will break its legs trying to catch up to the stork’ (or something similar, I don’t remember exactly). The best way to really understand the meaning behind why BTS uses the word crow tit is by listening (and reading the lyrics) of their song ‘Baepsae/Silver Spoon’. I also recommend the explanation video by DKDKTV.
Not Today is one of the two lead singles on the repackage album You Never Walk Alone. The music video was released on February 20th, 2017 and gained almost eleven million views within the first twenty-four hours. The lyrics of Not Today encourage listeners to keep fighting and to not give up. With the dedication to “all the underdogs in the world” and the mention of “crow-tits” it is reminiscent of BTS’ earlier songs such as No More Dream, N.O and Baepsae which encourage young people (/students) to stand up for themselves and to not blindly accept and follow everything they are told... Also - especially RM and JHope's verses after the first chorus - is most probably a response to the multiple attacks from medias, the idustry and haters who tried to defeat them since their first win: ".. Too high someone stop us"... ".. We couldn’t fail, Because we believed in each other.. We will never die today.."" A DAY MAY COME WHEN WE LOSE BUT IT IS NOT TODAY TODAY WE FIGHT The intro by RM was inspired by the speech of Aragorn in the final battle of The Lord Of The Rings: The Return of the King . IF YOU CAN’T FLY, THEN RUN TODAY WE WILL SURVIVE IF YOU CAN’T RUN, THEN WALK TODAY WE WILL SURVIVE IF YOU CAN’T WALK, THEN CRAWL EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO CRAWL, GEAR UP AIM YOUR GUN! READY! FIRE! This passage is inspired by the speech of Martin Luther King Jr. that they didn't want to distort too much because it sounded so intense in its original form: “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward”
This is an anthem song and what is listen to on tough days. 💜 the behind the scenes of the MV is also good.. you’ll see if it’s real or CGI. Tip though, they rarely do CGI. 😊

For example.. Save me and I'm fine have connected lyrics, and the song made by turning Save me in reverse is I'm fine. And the N.O music video and the staircase scene at the beginning of the ON performance at MMA2020 are the same. Not today, micdrop, fire, Fake love, etc. The people wearing black hoods in the music video symbolize the haters. There are a lot of other things~ I also recommend you to look for it while watching the music video~ 😊💜

They filmed this at a rock quarry in South Korea, and that mirror is used to polish/process the rocks and it's real. As an OG ARMY since 2014, their theme for much of the last decade was about being "bulletproof" against a system trying to tear the underdogs/working class down and keep the status quo (i.e., elites staying in power).
I feel like "main dancer", "main singer" or "main rapper" and stuff dont mean that much when it comes to BTS because they are all so good at everything and they have this unique kind of flavour to everything they do. 💜😊😍
I’m sure you didn’t mean it in a negative way and don’t want to reduce the members to their positions and box them in, but I have to disagree with you because positions like main vocal, leader, and dance leader have been mentioned often by BigHit and BTS themselves in all of their backstage footage and documentaries. They have even talked about how they strive to fulfill their roles. Yes, all members are talented in their own right, and these positions should not be used to diminish the contributions of other members. However, when you completely dismiss these positions, you undermine the additional efforts that go into them. For example, JK has contributed to the chorus credits and backing vocals for 140+ songs and has sung most of their guides. He spends a lot of extra time to record vocals and even said in his camping vlog that his throat hurts from recording guides. J-Hope has co-directed their dance performances and helps teaching them choreography. The main dancers or dance line take on major challenging dance parts. It's like saying a soccer team doesn't need positions like goalkeeper or striker. Saying that positions aren't important implies that people either don't understand the purpose of these positions, haven't worked in a team, or have focused on fanmade edited content that promotes a specific narrative. Edit: But I would agree that BTS should not be limited to their positions and that maybe some of the positions, like the sub positions, are not important because till this day - I know BTS since 2016 - no one could explain me what these positions are good for. 😅
You should definitely watch the dance practice and a live performance of this song. The choreography is insane as is the synchronization with the members and background dancers. Keep an eye out for a part of the choreography that looks like it's in slow-mo. It's seriously insane.
This lyric from Not Today is quoted/inspired by Martin Luther King Jr. "날아갈 수 없음 뛰어 뛰어갈 수 없음 걸어 걸어갈 수 없음 기어 기어서라도 gear up" "If you can’t fly, then run If you can’t run, then walk If you can’t walk, then crawl Even if you have to crawl, gear up"
I was scanning comments to see if anyone pointed this out. To my shame, I didn't get the connection until MLK day last year, when someone was pointing out that there's more to MLK's message than "not judging by the color of your skin but by the content of your character". Sadly, we don't learn half of what he tried to teach us. Not positive, but I think this quote may be part of his letters from the Birmingham jail.
This and Blood, Sweat, and Tears and ON are what made me go from curious about who this BTS is to a bigger fan of them than I’ve ever been of anything in the entertainment/sports realm
Namjoon said this song was inspired by the battle speech in lord of the rings: "A day may come when the courage of Men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the Age of Men comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight!" He wrote it about bts never stepping down from talking about injustice. It's also about working hard and overcoming yourself, breaking through your own barrier/comfort zone (if you see the reflection in jk's eye at 9:04, jungkook is shooting himself)

I‘m graduating this year and have my final exams. Before every exam I‘m listening to this song and it makes me try my hardest and to give it all I got. It really is this kind of hype song that tells you to keep trying and still give it your best even if your best is just to „crawl“. I purple you 💜 also please keep going I love u and this channel!!
Your first exposure to what would become Kitty Gang Jimin - Especially during the live shows, he is epic. I still giggle at RM's hand movements at the start to cover his mouth and hide the one thing BTS is very bad at - lip syncing! As others suggested it might be good to also react to their Bangtan behind episode or bomb that relates to each MV. They often give a little info on what the song's meaning is will answer a lot of the questions you all often have after watching.
The Not Today MV was literally filmed in a canyon, and the members literally ran their asses off with a whole crowd, and they also danced in that mirror platform at the end in real life (you can watch the bangtan bomb for making if Not Today MV)
10:10 That part is extra popular because it's the Martin Luther King Jr. quote that inspired the song: "If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward." 😉
This is my ultimate power song. Whenever I feel the doubt/drain/depression/burnout coming in, I say "Not Today!" Then I play this song. 😁 Our guys are great! And yes Daniel, the video wasn't CGI. The production staff brought in that glass platform. They rock! 👊 Borahae!
the very first MV i watched from BTS that makes me an ARMY, i was in slumped, and my youtube just played this randomly (i have autoplay on that time) really gives me the strength when i really need it
The “NOT TODAY” Live performance from there last day in Seoul world tour in my opinion is the best one! I love this channel! Thanks for your reaction videos! 💜💜💜💜
I always have a soft spot for Not Today. I taught my toddler goddaughter back then how to say "not today" and then showed her the MV, then she liked it so much and kept asking me to repeat Suga's part in the beginning. Anyway, loved this reaction, as I always do with your reactions! I had a bad day after falling and cracking my face, but this made me happy~ 😊 Can't wait for the next reaction!
Thanks for your reaction! They have some rocking liver performances of this. All that stuff in the MV are real. Real location, real glass thingy, real cool.
Crow-tit in Korean is Baepsae. Ther song "Baepsae" which you've heard, the one with all the hip thrusts, is a tie into this song. Baepsae (crow-tit) A Korean bird, called Crow tit in English. There is a common idiom/ saying : "the crow tit will break it's legs trying to walk like a stork". Other translations include try-hard and poser. Basically trying to be something that your not. BTS refers to themselves as baepsae because they are not part of a big name entertainment company, and they are still becoming international idol stars. They are proud to be baepsae. (from Urban Dictionary) It also has the nuance which usually symbolizes of someone "trying hard" at achieving something.
The was the 2nd song on their set list after Dionysus Day 1 of their Speak Yourself Tour at the Rosebowl... the crowd was SOOO hype. I dont think any one of us was expecting it. It was INSANE
I love the lyrics that goes "Someday flowers will fall but no not today. Today is not that day." It's SUGA's line in the beginning. And it's been my mantra ever since. I'm suffering from anxiety and sometimes I want to give up. There are times where I want to just d1e and leave this world. But I remember that line and I say to myself that "no, not today."
This is a song i hear every time that for some reason feal defeated and need motivation to get through watever is happening on my life, it really helps me. Thank you for your reaction it's always fun to watch.💜💜
Personally this song is one of my favorite songs that have an MV (the MV itself isn’t my favorite but I love the song). Underrated song in my opinion, especially live.
Not today always got me Everytime, the music, lyrics, dancing and the visual just everything was amazing. It is a total package! Thank you guys! Loved and enjoyed your reaction 😁 BORAHAE! 💜 💜 💜 💜
The dance practice video for this song is terrific - they had to film in a gym to fit everyone in and I swear the sound of all the feet stomping on the floor in that one choreo sequence was so intense they saved it and added it into the music video to give that sense of pure 🔥 and energy! Plus there's a really cool choreo part that isn't seen in the MV, where JK does a slow-motion forward roll without any special effects! Highly recommend!!
Omg!!! So glad you got to this song! This was my first BTS song, and I've been an ARMY ever since I watched it the first time. 💜 (I was already a Kpop fan but this was my first BTS song and I became an ARMY 😊)
Make sure to add the live version of this from the LY concerts to your list! The live concert versions are just amazing always leaves your jaws dropped. :D
If you see the dance practice for this the part where you can hear like "the footsteps" actually sounds so loud because it's the actual sound that's created by the dance and it's mind blowing hearing how powerful they are danceing to this song
Suga e RM já falaram que a música é como uma poesia para eles, então suas letras não poderiam ser vazias ou escritas de qualquer forma, por isso acho incrível cada mensagem que existe nas suas letras
@@cusegirl5 I think your translation must be wrong, or you must have commented in the wrong comment, I didn't say anything about that. I'm using the translator, sorry if any sentence is wrong
This is the first song that made me I fell in love with BTS before I checked out lyrics of their songs and imo still one of my top 3 BTS song. Someone already pointing out the inspiration from Lord of the Ring(return of the king speach before the final combat) and Martin Luther King but it's well worth echoing. Now cool things about this video. They got shot but it's OK they are bulletproof (figuratively ofcourse)😅 and important part of MV especially near the end, now please let me bring you back to reality for a minute to explain. When BTS were breaking through their glass ceiling a lot of attacks(and I mean a lot)were flying their way, sure it can't kill them but it can knock them down and so ARMY rose up to defend them in that bloody battle(yes im exaggerating a little, but just a little). Now back to the MV, once they got back on their feet they all run back to the front so they can lead AND block most shots.
If you can imagine they opened their 2019 World Tour at the Rose Bowl starting with Dionysus then did Not Today. With out stopping……Dionysus…and Not Today…..no break! It made me out of breath watching them.
Thanks for the reaction 🙏 This song sounds like an anthem and is a very hype song. Every time when I hear this song, I feel that I can conquer the world and nothing can put me down. I hope you react to this song live, for example the performance in Wembley stadium.
Guys just so you know BTS and mostly kpop groups dont or rarely use CGI… They do all stunts, effects and shoots in real places if needed and if they can..💜
Yay! 😁 Not Today is the song/MV that started my BTS journey, Happy it’s finally part of yours! Still one of my fav songs~ Hope you eventually get to see the behind the scenes of the making! Always love your reactions and conversation💜
They opened their Wings tour with this song. IT WAS INSANE! Heart attack right from the start. I was lucky enough to see them in Sydney 2017 a couple of days after they won their first Williamboard award.

Yaaassss!! "Finally" . . . (in Kookie), you guys are watching "Not Today!" It's one of my favorites. The beat, the rhythm, the dancing, dancing formations, and aesthetics hooked me. This and "Mic Drop" are what reeled me in the begiining of my BTS Journey, 5 years ago. Their energy and synchronization in this are off the chart amazing! Thanks CCW, borahae! 💜💜💜💜❤💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
The fact that " not today" wasn't as popular as "on" just proves xenophobia in media ... the beat and the dance moves were innovative.. before anyone else
My 6 year old daughter and I listen to BTS with my mom a lot and if she asks me if we can go do something and i'm busy i'll say "Not Today" and sing it and sometimes she joins in but sometimes it'll just annoy her haha.
So much messages inside… it’s about themselves, as underdog of the industry(they were big back then, but still underdog), and about colleagues like them, and about all the people who seek the dreams… And politically, about the era of former korean government (before the president was impeached)

I wish you can also react to their Live performances plus the mv
10:10 That part is extra popular because it's the Martin Luther King Jr. quote that inspired the song: "If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward." 😉
This is my ultimate power song. Whenever I feel the doubt/drain/depression/burnout coming in, I say "Not Today!" Then I play this song. 😁 Our guys are great! And yes Daniel, the video wasn't CGI. The production staff brought in that glass platform. They rock! 👊 Borahae!
Jimin’s dancing (marching band like part) always amaze me, and yes, his pink hair is iconic 😎😎😎
the very first MV i watched from BTS that makes me an ARMY, i was in slumped, and my youtube just played this randomly (i have autoplay on that time) really gives me the strength when i really need it
The “NOT TODAY” Live performance from there last day in Seoul world tour in my opinion is the best one! I love this channel! Thanks for your reaction videos! 💜💜💜💜
Kim namjoon...the lyrics💜
💜🥰
I always have a soft spot for Not Today. I taught my toddler goddaughter back then how to say "not today" and then showed her the MV, then she liked it so much and kept asking me to repeat Suga's part in the beginning.
Anyway, loved this reaction, as I always do with your reactions! I had a bad day after falling and cracking my face, but this made me happy~ 😊 Can't wait for the next reaction!
Thanks for your reaction! They have some rocking liver performances of this. All that stuff in the MV are real. Real location, real glass thingy, real cool.
Glassy thing is a man made stage...not a Lego anomaly...😊
I alway say that "NOT TODAY" is a call-to-arms song for ARMY!
This is a song i hear every time that for some reason feal defeated and need motivation to get through watever is happening on my life, it really helps me.
Thank you for your reaction it's always fun to watch.💜💜
This song became my mantra to get going. I get nostalgic hearing this because this helped me get through hard times.
Butter was the song that catched me but when I found "Not Today" THAT was the one when I knew: they got me forever.
(I was already a Kpop fan but this was my first BTS song and I became an ARMY 😊)
"Not Today" was my first BTS song. At that time, I couldn't even tell if they looked different but now I can tell who is who just by their shadows
Make sure to add the live version of this from the LY concerts to your list! The live concert versions are just amazing always leaves your jaws dropped. :D
I love this song💜this is my second song of them... I was addicted to jungkook part «ready... Aim... Fire»
this song live is even better, i like when they they add a breakdown for jungkook to walk all serious before the first ready! aim! fire!
If you see the dance practice for this the part where you can hear like "the footsteps" actually sounds so loud because it's the actual sound that's created by the dance and it's mind blowing hearing how powerful they are danceing to this song
This was the very first song i heard from them, after this i heard Dope and i was just hooked to BTS and K-pop after hearing two of their songs.
Suga e RM já falaram que a música é como uma poesia para eles, então suas letras não poderiam ser vazias ou escritas de qualquer forma, por isso acho incrível cada mensagem que existe nas suas letras
WTH are you talking about? What is ridiculous? Don't talk about Tae when you can't form a proper sentence.
@@cusegirl5 I think your translation must be wrong, or you must have commented in the wrong comment, I didn't say anything about that. I'm using the translator, sorry if any sentence is wrong
Sim é tudo muito profundo
Yesss I saw this, something about Not Today is such a motivational song 😊
There can't be a complete reaction to 'not today' without reacting to it's live ✨
If you can imagine they opened their 2019 World Tour at the Rose Bowl starting with Dionysus then did Not Today. With out stopping……Dionysus…and Not Today…..no break! It made me out of breath watching them.
I hope you'll get to watch the shooting sketch of this MV. It's so cool!
Not Today Is Just So underrated that song is freaking awesome and boomb my favourite song all the time
That pre-chorus is popular part probably because of the lyrics If you cant fly, run. If you cant run, walk. If you cant walk, crawl.
Thanks for the reaction 🙏 This song sounds like an anthem and is a very hype song. Every time when I hear this song, I feel that I can conquer the world and nothing can put me down. I hope you react to this song live, for example the performance in Wembley stadium.
Guys just so you know BTS and mostly kpop groups dont or rarely use CGI…
They do all stunts, effects and shoots in real places if needed and if they can..💜
You would love the “episode” on Bangtan Subs on the behind the scenes of the video shoot! So cool!! Love this one! 💜💜💜💜💜
This made me realize how underrated this song is. I'm putting it back on my playlist!
This was way before Idol and On. This is the BTS what i know.
When I'm about to give up I tell myself...I might give up this week...but NOT TODAY!
Watch the behind the scenes of this. Everything was real. BORAHAE💜
it's so cool to see you guys now knowing which member of BTS is just by looking at their head shape (Summer said "it looks like rm's head"), i remember when you didn't know their names 🥹💜. btw, i loooooove your reactions! 💜
9:07 that marching sound change and the choreo is just awesome!
first song i heard of them!! it always brings me back to that first time
*BEHIND THE SCENE IS WAVING*
I'm so obsessed by Summers earrings! Each video brings a new pair.
Always love your reactions..The reactions are really honest and heartfelt..You guys don't fake it like many other reactors..Borahae ARMYs..
watching this in my RUclips TL, i miss my boys again suddenly, been an army since late 2014s, really not even a tiny bit regret I've ever made, I am an army just for them and my self, no matter what messed things happening out there,I love ém, and I wanna see their future together with me, and grow old with our own family while listening to them.. they r that great, they r musician, performer, etc, the best Idol I've ever had..cry with me
Live performance + behind the scenes + dance practice is a must
That's not aggressivity, that's grit.
Their live performance is fire!!!! And it was also in sing 2, I was surprised when I was watching it and heard the song, I got excited😊
BTS lyricism is the best in the industry.
this is the song that made me Army😭😭😭
Hi guyssss. Miss you. Glad that you posted a video today, just felt lonely and you guys showed up such a mood booster for me :))
Not today is my all time favorite together with Pied Piper. It is also my fighting song. Tq for the reaction...love it💜
Agreed prob my top 2 but also ON!! And Butter!!!
@@cycology3 on is my favourite driving song. It is also my youngest daughter's favourite.
Yaaassss!! "Finally" . . 💜💜💜💜❤💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
thats BTS n their team....always doing great ❤❤❤
This live at wembley is unbelievable its def a must watch 💜💜💜
The fact that " not today" wasn't as popular as "on" just proves xenophobia in media ... the beat and the dance moves were innovative.. before anyone else
They have a video of the making of this by the way. It was all real and very cold! 💜
definitely check out the dance practice for this song! the marching part is so satisfying :)
My 6 year old daughter and I listen to BTS with my mom a lot and if she asks me if we can go do something and i'm busy i'll say "Not Today" and sing it and sometimes she joins in but sometimes it'll just annoy her haha.
Not Today is one of the songs that got me into BTS. It's so good lol. :D
I recommend you this song in live, it's amazing!!!
So much messages inside… it’s about themselves, as underdog of the industry(they were big back then, but still underdog), and about colleagues like them, and about all the people who seek the dreams…
And politically, about the era of former korean government (before the president was impeached)
Finallyyyy! I've been wanting for you to react on this! Patience and Faith! Thank youuuu!
Every season has story. Every one song is a new eps. And must watch.
This song live is incredible 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
This song is so special to me. It’s this song that made me an ARMY!
The glass circle is not cgi u can watch behind the scenes of not today
Hey guys! love the reaction! please know that all bts videos are free to be interpreted how you think the story is building. that’s part of their magic actually 😉
