Hey man, good vid! I have the same addiction living in working in Thailand. I've bought so many Super Famicom's, Famicom's, disk systems and other stuff here. I've been testing and repairing my hoard and honestly I don't know what I'm gonna do with it once I get it all home. Since my channel is about arcade repair I'm tentative about adding console repair even though that's another passion of mine, lol.
Thailand is a good time. I am considering moving there when I retire. You should definitely add the console repair stuff to your channel. I need to check out your arcade stuff. I have a JAMMA cabinet that needs a power supply and that's something I've not learned to do yet.
@@wilsvgaddiction4456 Yep, I love living here too and can see myself retiring here. Thanks for the advise! I'll upload some more console stuff to my channel. With your power supply, it's an easy fix. If you can do the SME troubleshooting and repair you'll have no issues with a PS. What arcade is it?
Nice repair 👍. I didn't know you repair consoles. I was enjoy watching repairs cause i learned from watching and i love it when they fix a game or console that is broken and bring it back from the grave.
Thank you for the wonderful comment! I've been fixing stuff for years but just recently felt maybe I could contribute with some of the things I've learned with my mistakes and my successes.
Awesome job! I’m just getting into fixing old systems and having a similar situation with an SNES I just got. PPU was the first thing I saw online. I’m definitely going to give this a try though.
Nice repair man, your commentary cracks me up. I have an SNES that has a weird issue, there are graphics problems but many games lock up and freeze consistently or I only see the starting logo or intro screen. Very odd. John Madden football works fine...go figure.
Hi and thanks for watching! I have a couple like that and I'm yet to solve this issue. I've swapped the SRAM and have determined that is not the problem. Only thing I can think of is the PPU or CPU but I'm reluctant to risk destroying a good system to trouble shoot a bad one.
Yo, just got done following your video to repair my SF. I appreciate the guide! So quick question, I think my SF looked fine after completing the repair but upon switching games, I now have a green tint only present in the upper right hand corner of the screen. It's present for any game I test. Have any ideas as to why this could be?
@@wilsvgaddiction4456 yeah polarity is correct on all of them. I left it off for a bit and tested again and no green tint anymore. Hopefully it stays away haha
Hi there! I have a faulty one as well, my SNES has the wrong colours, everything is tinted green or purple... another issue is that the picture is shifted to the right as well - do you have any ideas on what could be wrong? Thank you in advance :)
Hello, Probably not a capacitor issue. I have a console like that years ago with everything being green. I don't think I was able to figure that one out.
Thanks for the video. I have a Super Famicom with a GPM-02 board. It works well but sometimes on Mario Kart for example Mario and other characters have black lines through them while driving on the track but not off track. That should not happen. I'm guessing the caps have not been replaced on the board since factory 1993 so I'm going to swap out all the caps. I hope that is the problem. I've taken apart and cleaned the board and didn't see any leaks Any thoughts? thanks
Cool video Wil. I have been having an issue with my Super Nintendo... I.E. when I boot up Donkey Kong Country at the starting screen with cranky he is mostly not visible just black with the backround.. other then a little bit of the image is showing. Do you think that is capacitor as well? Thanks! :)
@@dspotteries3198 Is it just that game? Unfortunately, if you're having issues with more than one game having graphics that don't appear at all it may be one of the system's chips.
Nah it's definitely something wrong with the system... The game plays alright just somethings are distorted... And does it with Metroid and other games too.
Hello, I'm sorry but I generally do not. If you were local to me, I'd consider it but the cost of shipping would probably not be economical, especially if I wasn't able to successfully repair the system.
Hey I noticed you got a lot of super famicoms, you also mention some still have issues, well I’m uploading some super famicom repair videos on my channel check them out if you need to reference a similar fault.
Can you help me :(, my snes plays some cartridges Nice but some of them with green and colorful sprites, specially with games like Ultimate mk 3 or super mario kart, but simple games like donkey kong 1 or super mario world are ok, do you know what is the problem??, there was a moment that I tried to clean the pin reader by getting up and cleaning up with isopropilic alcohol :(, and then this problem appears :(
Eduardo Chero so the console was working well before you tried to clean the cartridge slot? If so, check closely to see if anything is caught in the pin connector. I’ve had an N64 on one of my videos that wouldn’t work because of a wad of paper was lodged in the pin connector. If some games work and others don’t you could also have a bad ppu and if that’s the case it’s a more difficult job.

Not many sources mention this issue, I think you may have just saved my childhood SNES from a mainboard transplant.
That's what it's all about! I hope you can fix it.

I'm not sure. I have never seen that problem before. Is the polarity on all the replaced capacitors correct?
@@wilsvgaddiction4456 yeah polarity is correct on all of them. I left it off for a bit and tested again and no green tint anymore. Hopefully it stays away haha
Tinted color seems like a cpu or gpu issue. Some videos on here show it being fixed by replacing just the cpu.
Would you kindly list out the capacitor types ?
Would like to repair my super famicom

That is strange. You should replace the caps but it sounds like your CPU might be dying.
@@wilsvgaddiction4456 Thanks. I ordered the caps and a new 10V power supply. I'll see if that helps.
@@wilsvgaddiction4456 Yeah iam experience something similar on a super famicom i got...
Hi I just bought a Japanese super FAMICOM off eBay it cost me $50.00 it was dirty I cleaned it inspected the motherboard and it works fine

Then the game boots up fine there are just little distortions in the graphics.

I HAVE 2 SFCs that have shaky images and one of them has gone mostly yellow (overall color on screen)
Do you repair for us civilians?

picked up Super Famicom with same issue today, except image starts in black and white and after a minute became in color.
