A couple nights ago because of the holidays, my 24 yr old daughter had to bunk with me and before I went to sleep, I looked over and was just so filled with the peace you get watching your sleeping child no matter how old they get.

My last glimmer was last night, playing ball with my husband and 2 daughters in our living room. We all let go of everything else and fully engaged, which doesn’t happen often enough. There was giggling and tickling and awkward body movements and legitimate laughter and joy. My daughter who usually has a hard time with bed time went to bed happily afterwards. I didn’t get embarrassed to lunge for the ball and completely miss. I felt like a kid again

All 3 of us were out at a restaraunt and I was able to sit back and soak in the convo, instead of feeling the need to provide a topic of convo. How does calling a pleasant time a "glimmer" make it into anything new?

@@ahill4642 So, we all need good times, especially folks who had some horrible times. So, what's the aha moment here?:) lol It's like saying guess what, you are thirsty, (please hold on to your seat now) so you need to drink water. Daaah! :) Only we are going to call it not water but a "rehydrating substance." or "rehsu" So, would you like to have some "rehsu"? (Much cooler than the word "water", which is sooo common). Also, it's the reason you got "that" thirsty in the first place that needs to be seriously avoided in the future. You cannot heal by having good moments. You can ONLY heal by knowing you ARE NOT GETTING THAT Thirsty again. Chasing desperately good moments is just silly. No amount of those can totally undo the pain you had experienced. Look for a meaning in your suffering, not a bandaid.

My latest glimmer was handing my gift to my gf this morning (tomorrow we are travelling abroad to visit family, so we decided to do gift giving a day early). The big gift she knew about and was happy, but she didn't know what the small gift would be. It was one of those chewy stim necklaces that she once mentioned when we discussed her autism and specifically the kind of stims she liked (the convo was more about masking but anyways). The convo happened in summer so I imagine my gf doesn't even remember it, but I did, by some miracle lol. Anyways she was so ridiculously happy and happy stimming and has been activelly using the stim toy all day at her work. It was great. Seeing her inner child happy makes my inner child happy too I think. I also find it funny we both got each other sensory stuff in part as presents (she got me noise cancelling headphones for my auditory issues!) It's just overall such a nice feeling, knowing what gift to get for a loved one and the loved one also knowing what to get me. It is new. And so nice!

So great to see this veing taught! Am 76, on the path of mindfulness, awareness since 1968. What you are describing is about being a natural human being. The deep joy, the wonder, the magic if it, no matter what. Meeting challenges with intelligence, taking care of things is much easier when we are welcoming reality. What you teach is reality therapy. Being with what is. Being awake and aware. Self-knowledge. More life. 20 years ago i wanted to run around shaking people to wake up and not suffer so much. I learned they can't even see you if they don't believe. But the ones who believe it's possible become obvious. The spark is catching. One glimmer sparks another. Sometimes people can even detect the resonance of a shimmer.

Glimmer to me rhymes with glitter. How do I bring that "glitter" into my life wherever I might be in that moment. It's so easy to go off internally when there is a trigger. So a glitter moment is catching myself, staying out of the drama, opening my curtains to the sun even shoveling out my horse stalls. Yes its a yucky task sometimes but as a glimmer moment it's about keeping my best friends safe and healthy. They are the glitter that makes life easier.

I can attest to that. My cream golden retriever and Burmese cat are my greatest joys and achievements in my life. This doesn't detract from those relationships with humans past or present, it just implies that I feel this is the most purest, simplest kind of love that one can be grateful for. Seeing them well cared for and cherished helps me remember that there is some good and worthwhile acts of kindness that can be carried out with success... no one undermining you, shaming you or judging you... you just do it because it feels good and safe to do so. Taking time out to do the more...mundane things that need to happen.... mucking out stalls, cleaning up after them can be done with the mindset that we both win.... we end up having a fulfilling and cherished companionship together. We are entrusted to be their caretakers. Looking for moments of joy... they are out there people... you just have to stay grounded and realise that some people who are sent to test you... probably haven't done or wanted to do the groundwork or heavy lifting to better their outcomes (or are enduring heavy trauma).... and choose to cast their shade onto you instead. Merry Christmas, and to all a goodnight.🎄🎄

So I started attempting to get sober about 3 years ago when my ex left after 9 years of pain. I drank for 12 years, used anything and everything to feel different. But when she left, I began to become more self aware. There had to be something better, something greater! I put my faith in my higher power who I call God and went to rehab. And again I relapsed. And again and again. Ended up on the street 3 times. Finally, I got a sponsor and began working the 12 steps of AA. I talk to him everyday and he helps me to frame my ideas and issues in a more positive and grateful way. That, the realization that if she hadn't left, I'd have never began building the man I am today, that is my glimmer.

My last glimmer was yesterday when I went for a swim in a nature enclave near my home.
I floated above water, and felt a provision of love as I watched the towering trees in all their shades of green, their branches offering a safe shelter over me. It started to rain ever so lightly; I stayed in the water and watched everything around me turn into magic.
The largest of trees still providing cover and from them little droplets plopping softly onto the surface of the calm water, their sounds echoing against the buzzing of the dragonflies. I watch them fly, dip their little feet lightly as they skim over water, and I greet them happily. In these moments, I feel truly free to be me. Nature connects and heals 💚

28 years ago I changed my Lifestyle completely from a hectic, long commute, city job and relocated to a rural peninsula . My natural environment provides daily glimmers. Recently, I’ve been pursuing new work opps. Back to the craziness or working a calmer, more purposeful and flexible work. Yes, $ would be better back in the rat race. But then I fear my daily Glimmers would disappear in the hyper-paced rhythm of back to the treadmill. Namaste.

It’s the first time I hear the term glimmer but strangely enough, I started doing that very thing a few months ago. After suffering from PTSD for years, I needed a way to reprogram my brain and body to feel joy again. And contrary to certain comments on this post, knowing you need to feel joy to be healthy isn’t always enough and doesn’t compare to knowing you have to drink water. Speaking for myself, I could say that years of depression and dealing with past trauma had “hardwired “ my brain into believing I would never feel real joy again. I love this short video because it reminds people that it is possible to reprogram your thinking and emotions. What you call the moment is really irrelevant but personally, I like being able to put a name to it. It makes it more real and tangible somehow. And I like the term “ Glimmer”. It’s a counter balance to “trigger”. So thank you for this short video. There will always be someone to criticize but if it helps one single person, then it’s worthwhile.

A glimmer moment I had was just appreciating the beautiful clouds in the sky and the way the sun hit them. It took my breath away and left me in awe. I like having a word for that. And I'm hoping that focusing on glimmer moments and things will help me when I am feeling triggered and help me get calm faster. Thank you so much for your content!

Love this! Training yourself to notice and deeply feel the visceral effects of positive, uplifting experiences definitely intensifies the beneficial effects, and strengthens your abimity to notice them when they occur. Have been working with this for a while, love having the name of glimmers to connect with them.
Earlier this afternoon, I looked up to notice blue skies and puffy white clouds after several days of gray, gloomy, drizzly weather. I felt my whole body relax, and my spirit just lit up at the sight. A half hour later it was gray and gloomy again, but I had filled myself already, and still felt sunny inside.
Yesterday evening while sharing a link to an uplifting videowith a friend, we had a conversation about how the sharing feels like it creates an energetic web of love, support and connection that holds us like a cozy nest. It's always there supporting us, and we can snuggle into it and feel the comfort of it whenever we need or want to. Recognizing that, and being fully aware of it in that moment, I could feel the resonance of that loving support all around me, and it was such a deeply nourishing moment. Definitely a glimmer, and I found myself remembering it and revisiting it today when I was at a low point. Having the conversation with her really helped trigger my awareness of what was happening, and helped me to anchor my awareness and enjoyment of the moment. Writing about it here helps strengthen them even more.
Instead of training myself to be hypereware of triggers and focusing on dysregulation, I experience my connection with the glimmers in my life growing, which strengthens my resilience and pleasure. I like starting the new year off with such a powerful upgrade.

This is so very timely, because today, I felt so happy and calm while I was out shopping. I texted a friend that I felt like I loved myself. After writing an entry in my diary, I discovered why:
I was entirely present in the moment, and taking in all of the colors, fragrances and people. It felt like the perfect day.

I always think my partner is special and we've been together for years now, but there are moments when I look at him and I'm just filled with this overwhelming sense of him being the most beautiful person I've ever known, and that I wished I believed in an afterlife because I love him so much that one lifetime doesn't seem enough.
Another example is looking at my garden and the fruit trees we've planted and feeling so proud and joyful and excited about the coming years.
My brain has a lot of low times so it's nice to remember that it's not all the time, there are moments of happiness.

My daughter wants to work on her mental health this year and I will help her start it off by bringing her this video and attempting to open her mind to this practice. I believe in it so much, noticing the small happy moments, realizing I’m peaceful in a moment, consciously practicing gratitude. I swear it keeps me sane despite dealing with anxiety, etc. Small, relaxing, healing, rejuvenating moments are precious.

I have been experiencing this, at least I think it's what you're teaching here, since I was a kid. It happens during the "kind interaction with a stranger" moment but not as often as I'd like. To me it feels like complete honesty is being revealed. The other person's soul is open and beautiful radiating it toward me. I don't think the other person feels it at the same time. I've never heard it called this before and whenever I ask someone if they ever feel it they have no clue what I'm talking about. It doesn't compare to any other feeling I can think of except for maybe that last second before general anethsesia takes affect. LOL It's more than just a calming joyful moment for me. It's a full body, mind and soul experience. My head is fuzzy, my body is warm and relaxed and I feel as though I'm taking on the soul/spirit of the other person in a good way. I feel somewhat stunned and have a hard time talking during it. I can keep it going for a while after they're gone, but that's it after that. It feels like angelic kindness. Like my soul has loved there's in another lifetime. Hard to explain but there you go!
