Hell yeah for DOS2. It's my favorite RPG ever, but by the time I'm done with BG3 who knows. For my favorite games not in your list, it's Dragon Age, final fantasy X, and Shin Megami Tensei IV.
This list is exactly what I was looking for. Baldur’s Gate 3 has been my introduction into this genre of games, and I can’t get enough of it. Planning to run through Divinity: Original Sin 2 next.
I found divinity 2 before anything years ago and nothing else came close back then. If you want games similar that are really good, divinity 1, divinity 2, balders gate 3 and pillar of eternity 2 (turn based mode). Outside of larian the only thing that came close was POE 2
Great list here! Tons of great games! Love _'Suikoden 1 & 2', 'Tactics Ogre', 'Fire Emblem'_ and _'Octopath Traveler'!_ For my list, I personally would've added _'FRONT MISSION 3'_ as my favorite of all time. Also, _'Final Fantasy 6',_ which is my favorite FF game besides _'FF Tactics: WOTL'._ Also, _'R-Type Tactics I & II'_ [which I hear may be coming to Switch!] _'Advance Wars 1 & 2'_ and _'Triangle Strategy'._ There's so many cool games out there, I don't think I could stop at 25, haha! 😂😂😂 Good job! 👍👌
Missed on = South Park: Stick of Truth was excellent, but ofc they effed it up with the second game. This could be exploited even more. Darkest Dungeon, Jagged Alliance 3 and BaldursGate 3 might be my thing from this list.
I haven't heard someone mention that game in YEARSSSS!! Absolutely love Gladius, Leo's betrayal after having invested so much exp in him was a rough lesson to learn as a kid 😂
Phantom Brigade - this one is missing from the list as the game with best insight on turn based combat gameplay in last years, from classic moving one unit at time to move all units at same time.
Wartales has to be a standout due to being the only sandbox open world. Maybe that element isn't as valued in the genre but for me it rises above. I don't mean a little board game piece moving around a flat table top but a world to traverse and explore. i'm actually here looking for something similar.
Not a big fan of turn-based combat, but looking for similar games to Legend of dragoon, Mario superstar saga and Bowser's fury, and Sea of stars - you are actively taking part in fight when using magic for e.g, or even that second hit, when pressing button at the right time, I need this kind of game
Some older games maybe. Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder,Shining in the Darkness for instance. Before them text games such as Zork. Just saying 👍👍👍👍
Battle Brothers is the game i played a lot, still suck at it. I wasn't even able to play into middle game. Like, i have unlocked noble contracts only two times, generally i die earlier. But it's the game that i never delete from PC, someohow i like graphics, battle mechanics and shear brutality of the game and when i search for turn based games i generally end up playing BB
Not sure Wartales should be on here. Isn’t that the one with basically no story? I’d sooner put something like Othercide, despite it being an indie game. At least it has a story. Also, P5 is better than P5R, imo. Better ending, overall, despite the extra characters.
Yeah i also had the same feeling. WOTR and DOS2 is my favourite before but it didn't have the same feeling with me playing BG3. The feeling to play another CRPG games.
I think pathfinder wotr is a good game, but i struggled to get into it i like it and i think its a good game but at the same time i dont like it lol as im not a fan of pathfinder mechanics i prefer DND
can you recommend good turn based jrpg for beginner ? my friend recently want to return to gaming after 3 year fatigue he said he prefer non real time action so i suggest him turn based combat, let's just said he never play turn based combat in his whole time soooo please suggest something with aspect mentioned above in mind
don't get baited by the trails series. it has a ton of world building because there are like 20 games in the series. the story is some of the most lazy cliche garbage you can find in any RPG. the boring main character with an edgy past, the childhood friend love interest, the funny effeminate male joke character, the scantily-dressed succubus mommy; every single character is boring, the plot is the same as every JRPG on the super nintendo, and it takes hundreds of hours to get to the "good" games of the series. trust me, i got baited but you dont have to.
@@1607Adi_Manznah honkai star rail is overrated, too much sub quest, the main quest doesn't goes anywhere, good opening story though, but garbage developing story, gameplay? almost garbage
Lol he liked the comment he can't even take time to read comments let alone play the games, dudes just in it for the money, he doesn't respect your time, intelligence, or money. This dudes a lame.
@@strider775Its rly is. Turn basen+ real time, much much harder game. Pathfinder wotr is also much deeper. Much better epic combats, great romance. I rly like BG3 but for me pathfinder wotr is about 97/100 game BG3 is 94/100.
That’s a matter of opinion. Also, not everyone likes harder games. Or at least not everyone sees that as a positive. You shouldn’t state your opinion as fact. You seem like a child. Just try, “imo, Pathfinder WOTR is better than BG3.” and now you don’t seem so immature. We don’t need to agree on things… but we should agree on facts and reality… so state opinions as opinions.
@@Paradox-es3bl U can chose difficulty in pathfinder u cant in BG3 that's diffrence. Ofkz you say u can... yeah but tactician is just crazy easy even without any multiclassing. Already past the game as a solo sorcerer :/ youtuber Werglia made nice movie about this 2 games.
😂How is the Trails of series “overrated”. It’s SEVERELY OVERRATED. Turn based is my favorite genre, and I tried playing the first and couldn’t stand it.
I get the comment. Like you I am a big turn based fan. With the trails games you have to accept there is a TON of reading. I remember it took about 10-15 hrs to get into the first game (I remember because I came close to quitting)… after having finished the game… and a lot of time has passed… I can still say it sits somewhere in my top 20 games list (I have a huge library). Anyway, to each their own…
@JoelRPG I know many more turn based but because I am very old 44 and grumpy I like old school rpg and games the new ones that I have played on pc and ps4 none have made me happy the last one I played and liked was titan quest because I like games like chrono cross breath of fire diablo and since I mentioned diablo what you think of the 4?have you played it?me I played it a little bit and I am not so excited but I'll gave it another chance in future
Other games worth a mention:
Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Chained Echoes, Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark, Triangle Strategy, DQ XI, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, Blue Reflection: Second Light

The Dungeon Of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet Of Chaos, Disciples: Liberation.
And yet no Ni no kuni 1
@@eyssa187ify It uses a hybrid battle system rather than a classic turn-based one.
My favourites are :
1. Persona 5
2. Baldur gate 3
3. Persona 4
4. Fire emblem three houses
5. Dragon age origins
Hell yeah for DOS2. It's my favorite RPG ever, but by the time I'm done with BG3 who knows. For my favorite games not in your list, it's Dragon Age, final fantasy X, and Shin Megami Tensei IV.
Dragon Age isn't turn based though.
Yes
Disciples 1 for me is chefs kiss not everyone’s boat definitely tough to get into for the modern gamer but put some time into it you will get hooked
Unfortunately i never liked turn based games but i love to watch other people playing it.😅
Good video btw👍
Great list! Solasta CoTM Should be up there, Best DnD Turn Based Combat + Replay value.
My favorites will always be:
1: Shining Force
2: Shining Force 2
3: LotR The Third Age
Heroes of Might and Magic and Jagged Alliance mentioned!!. That's really good

Good choice!
Jagged Alliance 2 and Fallout 1 & 2 should be on this list.
Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga and TROUBLESHOOTER: Abandoned Children are so good . constantly getting updated to.
I am so happy to see FF8!
I like 9 better but 8 is great as well in different aspects.
Ff8 is my favourite game of all time. Played that repeatedly back in the day.
I didn't know Tactics Ogre was on PC, I'm crying :'(
I was very happy to see Heroes or Might and Magic on your list ! (#17)
Not having Breath of Fire III is WILD
I didn’t even know octopath came out with the sequel already lol getting on that soon for sure
Dragon quest 11 and yakuza like a dragon was like a crack cocain. Addiction level at max.
Missed on = South Park: Stick of Truth was excellent, but ofc they effed it up with the second game.
This could be exploited even more.
Darkest Dungeon, Jagged Alliance 3 and BaldursGate 3 might be my thing from this list.
Am now 30hours in baldir gate 3 and I’m still in act 1😭 the game is huge absolutely huge
One of my favorites as a kid was Gladius for the PS2.
I haven't heard someone mention that game in YEARSSSS!! Absolutely love Gladius, Leo's betrayal after having invested so much exp in him was a rough lesson to learn as a kid 😂
Phantom Brigade - this one is missing from the list as the game with best insight on turn based combat gameplay in last years, from classic moving one unit at time to move all units at same time.
the fact that the EBF franchice wasnt mentioned was a crime
For me it's an easy list BG3 at #1 , XCOM2 at #2. Nothing even comes close to those after trying so many of these except their prequels
Child of light- Battle chasers - Ruined king - Wayfinder
Wartales has to be a standout due to being the only sandbox open world. Maybe that element isn't as valued in the genre but for me it rises above. Chrono trigger ff4 and 6 and xeno gears and breath of fire 1
No yakuza like a dragon, no watch
Xenogears, fantastic game and cool soundtrack as well.
Great video! I’m so excited to get into the Trails series
i hope you enjoyed it!

Betrayal at Krondor and Planescape Torment.
PT is not Turn based
it's hard to play anything else after Baldur gate 3
I sadly refunded it after 1 hour
Yeah i also had the same feeling. WOTR and DOS2 is my favourite before but it didn't have the same feeling with me playing BG3. The feeling to play another CRPG games.
Thank u for putting trails 😭😭😭❤️
Amazing list, bro!
Brigandine: legend of forsena for ps1
Midnight Suns
Slay the Spire
Into the Breach
Cobalt Core
Ehhhh Darkest Dungeon and Persona games? You got my vote.

I just replayed the Eschalon series... (1-3) Old (and cheap) but in my opinion excellent. And for a beginner you only have one character to focus on.
Chrono trigger?
persona 5 for me is #1
Showgunners would have sat well on this list.
''2023 Edition'' in the title because you know you're gonna milk this format until the end of time 😂
Good video. I'll add Tales of Maj'Eyal. Have a look it's a deep immersion into RPG turn based with infinite gear possiblities. Regards, Ivan.
You need to play Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden.
Ff8 favourite game of all time.
ah, yes, xcom 2, as RPG as it gets
also 25 games and no golden sun
Druidstone?))
Fantasian!!
What is the name of the last game (strategy Fire emblem like)
Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga
Thank you!! I allready own it on steam but I forget, backlog isues😅

No Chrono Trigger? Unholy
Faltaron los golden sun que para mi fueron de los mejores que he jugado
honestly, xenogears #15, no bg 1 nor 2, no dragon quest xi.... sorry but i dont agree at all.
Where is Dragon Quest 11, bro?
Dragon quest 11 is wack it only has one battle theme is sucks
Xcom 2 was horrible, they made the missions timed.
I play games to waste time and have the fun.
No JA2? you must be kidding
i don't like JRPG games, the are too flashy for my taste
XCOM, Gears Tactics and alike this is my kind of games
