I have a bachelor in accounting with over 12 years experience in taxation and elected not to take the CPA exam because I do not desire to work for the IRS or a financial institution. In the state of Florida, you’re not required to have a degree to sit for the CPA exam as long as you have a certain amount of credits, which is rediculous. My perception of the who CPA exam is that it’s a money grab, by the way, in the state of Florida you pay nearly $2500 by the time you’re done taking all portions of the exam.

A CPA without a college degree in accountancy isn’t any better than an accountant with bachelor’s degrees that doesn’t hold a CPA certificate.
