  • Put "Life and Death" from the Soundtrack of LOST (Michael Giacchino) over Laurie's final phone call and it's effing depressing.

for some reason this was more emotional to watch the second time, knowing she was going to be ok

This scene confused the hell out of me.
I thought she committed suicide but then she's alive in episode 8?
What happened did the writers change their mind?

I actually read somewhere that the writers did in fact change their minds.
She was originally dead when they filmed this episode.

I feel like they changed it because Laurie being alive helps the theory that Nora lied to Kevin at the end. Which the show runners wanted to keep open ended.

Nora absolutely lied, the scene with the nun made that very clear.
I actually read that when they filmed this scene Laurie did in fact commit suicide but they later changed their minds when writing the finale.
Either way it works since you could argue her kids made her change her mind and later on she is seen with her granddaughter.

I mean i think she lied but they said the ending's open ended (I mean come on it's the same dude who made Lost). But my point was they probably would've just killed Laurie off if they weren't trying to support theories about wether she lied or not. In episode 6 Nora says "same time next week" to Laurie as a goodbye, then in the last episode Laurie says it to her in the phone booth. I feel like this is a nod to the fact that Nora never went through the portal and they continued to talk at the same time each week. Laurie kept the secret that she was alive from everyone as Nora was her "patient"... Or maybe I've just been thinking too hard.

      @ neocon
Yeah the story was made up.
It becomes clear if you consider what the nun said.
Also the premise is flawed. If the guy who went through could build a machine to send her back then why wouldn't he send everyone back?
She finally came to piece with her kids and husband disappearing by realizing that wherever they went, they at least had each other.
