I think a lot of people disliked this video because the title was a little misleading. Maybe it should have been, "Tones from a Fender, etc." But great playing and sounds man. I really like your style.
well, we learned more about your excellent and creative playing than about the basses. You could probably make a 80-dollar J.C. Penny bass sound good, which is what a true virtuoso player is all about :)
Lucas Vecco I know this may sound very obvious...but have you made sure your tone knob is all of the way up? I only ask because, one time I noticed my bass sounded a lot darker than usual and no matter what I did to the eq on my amp it would not brighten up. The next morning I just went to turn the volume on my bass up and accidentally used the tone knob, and it was indeed turned down. I felt like an idiot, if that is not the case, lowering the pickup further into the body should also help.
Lucas Vecco depends on which rick you have. The early ones had a brighter sound until the 80s when they changed something in the circuit to make it more mellow. These days they make them so you can change between the two different styles with a push/pull knob. If yours is a recent one you should have that function. More info should be on the rick website.
Damn I really want a ric........the slab body 55 precision is pretty sweet too,the older telecaster influenced original fender precisions. I believe in the late 60s fender introduced an actual "telecaster bass" but it had a big humbucker pickup instead of the p style pickup in the original precisions. Let me know if I am mistaken
+Don nix hello Don! Indeed the telecaster bass began as a correct reissue of the 50s precision. You can find those bass every now and then, especially 1968s are not uncommon. Later, in 1972, it was changed to the big humbucker. Around about the same the time the wide range humbuckers made their first appearence on the tele deluxe. Thanks!
Great playing ^^ Sounds like mine, but better xD Which wood is the Explorer made of? I own a Gibson Thunderbird and the difference in the sound is huge, maybe it's the EMGs x)
Hi my dear! :D The Explorer has a mahogany body, a maple neck and a baked maple fretboard. Yes, the EMG was a huge difference indeed, before that upgrade you couldn't tell a very clear and audible difference between it and a TBird, in spite of the fact that the TBird has a neck through and the neck itself is made of different wood. The TWTB is a mod that I would recommend every thunderbird owner to do; you can leave the gibbo neck pickup for those vintage superheavy tones and still have super modern humbucking and single coil tones out of the EMG almost a la Fodera. And of course you can have a mix of the two, and you're ready at that point to tear down the walls!
Love the lion king sheet bg
I'm a Ric man...but those old style Pbasses are the ones I would own if I bought Fender...Those are my faves..
+ferox965 the single coil'd precision are good... :)
Andrea Zanzarri yeah man...unique sound. Squier makes a pretty nice version too...Nice chops by the way. Cheers
That Gibson sounds surprisingly fantastic. The Rick sound iconic.

+Eduardo Yanes see your point there, but I am so in love with the pbass!
Pbass = off sound.....
Nice demo !
The neck pickup of my 4003 sound very muddy than your 4003 :/
You should try lowering it a bit! Thanks for stopping by!
