How to glue a jigsaw puzzle together for mounting

- My kids gave me a sweet Star Wars jigsaw puzzle for Christmas, and after it was done we thought it'd be nicer to hang it on a wall rather than just put it away. Here's what you'll need to glue your puzzle:
clear drying craft glue
a spreader for the glue
spray adhesive
foam boards for mounting
Spread the craft glue over the front of the puzzle using the spreader. Wipe up any excess with a cloth, and let the puzzle dry. Flip it over and measure the foam boards, cutting them down just inside the overall area of the puzzle so that they don't show from the front. Then spray on the adhesive and quickly stick the foam boards on. Put some heavy stuff on the back, and you're done!
Omg!!! I googled how to glue puzzles together and it brought me here.....THIS IS THE EXACT PUZZLE I’M GLUING TOGETHER !!! LOL!! Cool 😎
me too!!! 😂
Where did you get it I would love to find it and put it together for my father I have looked online but can’t find it

That was so cute at the end. “NEVER, EVER, GEVER?!” 😂😂 so adorable
“There’s no such thing as a Gever” 😂😂
That is an awesome Star Wars puzzle! I just finished a puzzle and I am going to glue the puzzle according to this video. Thanks for your help! Now on to the next puzzle!
Watched this a few years ago and glued a few 1000 pieces together. Been about 2 years since I did a puzzle and now I got a 3000 piece to glue together so had to get refreshed. Gonna be a fun one to flip!
Pretty sweet puzzle! Actually going back through the movies for a fourth time and assembling a star wars puzzle before the Solo movie comes out.
The kids at the end! Sooo cute
Highly suggest watching to the end so your soul will smile when the youngin says "Never ever gever?"
Thanks for the video. Reading the comments, I'm so glad I put my puzzle together atop some cardboard instead of directly on the table so I can easily move it about. Gotta think ahead. Lol.
Thank you so much for the wonderful idea. We just finished our 6000 pcs puzzle World Map and waiting for the 18000 pcs Paris 😍
Excellent! Thank you! My son loves puzzles. That's a great idea.
“We are gonna maaaauk out .... “love the accent! Thanks this was helpful.
Never ever gever!!!! Was so adorable 😩❤️🥰
That is a super cool puzzle! Thank you for the great video! Time for me to get puzzling.
"Never, Ever, GEVER!?!"" Cute!
Very nice, I just finished a puzzle and was thinking how to glue it. 👍👍👍
I don't even do puzzles. But the question "how do people fix their jigsaws?" just popped up in my caffeinated and procrastinating brain. Now I know. And I will never use this knowledge to anything. But I still enjoyed your video :-D
Time to buy a jigsaw puzzle
Very cool. I’m doing The Joy Of Puzzles by Bob Ross. The painting is called winter. I got it at Barnes And Nobles. It’s 18”x24”. I want to frame it and give it to my daughter as a gift.
Never-ever-gever!!
Thank You!! I had no idea how to glue my 1000 pc "Lighthouses of the Great Lakes" puzzle. Success!! But ... as with most how-to videos, you made it look easier than it was. The puzzle glue was hard to work with, but I managed. I used exactly the same glues and boards as in your video, and it worked out great. Q: How did you transfer your completed, un-glued puzzle onto the boards?? : )
I love star wars, great job
Yes 🙌🏼 Never Ever Gever! 💓
Great job . I just did my rick and morty. Turned out great
The kids at the end 💖
wait so... lololol! The finger in the frame is so good, great vid!
The ending got me! Theres no such thing as the word Gever! Lolll
The best part was the kid at the end.
Legend has it is that the kid is still trying to make the word gever stick 😂😂😂
Who can be arsed faffing? I mean, to those of you that can, I salute you. 🖖. Live long and prosper. 😘
Thanks! I am going to try this!
BTW- Never Ever Gerber, made me LOL
Although I see you used a blue paper (wax paper?) I didn’t see any instructions on how or when to affix that? Did I miss that?
You put it under when you do the first glue so the puzzle doesn't stick to the table when the glue seeps through the pieces. Wax paper come off easily. Then use it again when you flip. This time under again up against the front when you glue the board to the back.
I wonder if I can use this method for my wooden puzzles.
Nice job.
Awesome video. Please may you do a video on how to take a jigsaw puzzle of the table? I'm sorry for asking i have done a puzzle and the problem i have got is that its on the table and I just don't know how to get it off without breaking it.
“So we’re not going to take it apart?”
“Nope”
“Never, ever, ever??!!!!
Yeah, after 1,000 pieces, no!
Omg that's just beautiful ❤❤❤
I just finished my 1,000 piece puzzle but I did on my floor so now I’m trying to transfer it on to a table. It’s going to be a struggle😖
Did you do it?
Slip poster board under it and transfer
Did you hang them on the wall or did you frame it I'm having a hard time what I want to do and what man I don't know should i hang mine or put it on posterboard
Easy put a cardboard under
SOOOOO true
Thanks you for tips!
Pressing all the pieces of the puzzle together evenly with a rolling pin will improve the finish
Geeks of the world rejoice!
Where did you get that awesome puzzle?
Lmao the kids at the end!
i have a running tiger puzzle by frank puzzles it is 34.5 x 46 cm its 300 pieces it took three days to figure it out because i did not know it was my first time getting a puzzle
Hi thanks for the video. Very helpful... got a 1000 piece puzzle. Was thinking of mounting it to a picture frame and hang it up. I'm using mod podge glossy finish. ..
Probably a long way away from completely finishing as it's my first time. ... titanic ship picture... 39"-13....
My husband just finished the titanic ship puzzle. Going to mod podge and hang it up. Thanks for the directions!
I used the exact same glue but the puzzle got all wavy.
Hope you had good ventilation in that room.
Awesome!!
is there any way you can show how you mounted it?
Thank you.
Geeks of the world rejoice!
I looked this up to seal my starwars puzzle
Any experience with removing puzzle glue? I uses gloss but wish I would've went with matte finish.
very cool!
Would look good leaving the board a little bigger than the puzzle
this is a good video but you use glue ,i use tape on the back ,and i used a frame on my first puzzle, i want to do it the way you do ,but my question is can i still glue it to the foam core if i am useing the tape on back of the puzzle
How did you hang it on the wall?
Never ever gever!
This is really helpful. Thank you! but i'm sure if I missed a step or something in the video, but how did you get the puzzle on the board before you poured the glue on?
Gever say gever! 😆
How do you hang it now that its mounted?
Ummm how did he get the puzzle on the black board from the table??
Can you use mod podge
Can we glue the back of the puzzle so we don’t accidentally mess up the front? First timers.
Awesome! I can 3D PRINT you custom mounts for any puzzles just let me know!!! They can go all 4 corners and nail into the wall?
Wow, are you willing to share the file to print it?
found this cause i’m framing a 2000 piece star wars puzzle ✨
HI, not sure if you will see my comment. We just finished glueing our puzzle, front and back, and it's already dry. Can I still spray glue on the back and stick it to the board? I would think so, but just not sure if a lot of moisture from the 2 glues will get through and ruin it.
thanks so much!! do you-have my suggestion of how i can then place it on the wall for display ?
Someone asked a similar question above and he replied that you can hot glue a hanger onto the backing or wire a hanger through the backing before you affix it.
Where can we find the Star Wars puzzle?
Great video, very helpful! I am wondering if/how you hang foam board on the wall? Is it sturdy enough to hang by itself, or do you also frame it?
It's sturdy enough to hang on its own, thankfully. You've got a few options, one is to hot-glue some paperclips or other frame hanging devices to the back, and then hang with that. Another option is to put wire through the board before you glue it on, knot the wire so it won't pull back through, and then glue it in place. Then you've got a handy wire ready for hanging. Good luck!
FWIW, I ended up gluing another board to the back of the poster board. In my case, it was a piece of floorboard, about 6" wide and 1/2" thick, extending nearly the full length of the puzzle, and mounted near the top of the puzzle. Then I was able to attach normal picture-hanging hardware using screws. It does make the top of the puzzle stick out from the wall a bit, so I added some padding to the bottom two corners to make the whole thing stick out evenly. That's an added benefit -- it looks rather cool to have the puzzle look suspended an inch or so from the wall.
Pls help, will the glue ever seep through the puzzle and get to the bottom of what ever u laid the puzzle on top of???
I just started doing puzzles I got 3 done so far Started with a 250 / then did a really nice 500 now working on a Van Gogh 1000 I got a few questions do I stay away from Mod podge glue ( I heard to stay away from it ) 2 can I use Reg Elmer's glue ? does it dry clear ? and I'm prob going to used same glue ( Elmer's Glue ) on back Will this work ? I'm prob going to frame them / and if I don't ( which I really would rather have just the puzzles hanging up on my wall do I just glue a frame holder on top middle of board I just glued it to ? please I need help I don't want all this work to be messed up TY very much
Hey Dave! I don't know about Mod Podge glue, but Elmer's should be fine as long as it's clear-drying. Most good craft glues will say on the product on they dry. To hang, you can hot-glue a frame holder on the back, or put wire through the backing board before you glue it on.
i know i'm really late, but did you happen to use mod podge? that's the only glue i have and it works really well for paintings and stuff, but im still kinda scared to use it for some reason. i love how my puzzle looks without a glossy coat on it. im scared that mod podge will soak through and leave it looking like it has water damage. im gonna have to get some super cheap puzzles to test on lol
Do you happen to have link for that puzzle?
Does anyone know if I can find this puzzle on eBay or Amazon?
We watching this whole vid while trying to get the modge podge ipen
Can i use decoupage glue for florescence puzzles?
Can you glue down a 5D puzzle? Or would it be too difficult?
I think they come with a special spray that glues them together or maybe you vous them from the bottom
Dude how do you have multiple accents, I could hear American, Canadian, Australian, New Zealander, Texan and probably more just got confused at the end😂😂😂
This is the truth. I was born in New Zealand, lived in Europe for years and today call Canada home. You have good ears!
@@JonathanPuddle That's cool mate, good stuff....I'm in the process of finishing my first puzzle and it's a star wars one too...thanks for the tip, I was going to put it in a frame and just tape the back but the glue might be a better idea 👍
imagine how much glue it would take for one of those 18000 piece puzzles
That is exactly what I am considering doing lol.
How would you then mount this to a wall?
Put it in a frame
I superglued these hooks you use for hanging stuff on the wall lol sorry I don't know the exact name of them and I can't leave a picture LOL
Could've cleaned the crock pot, first . . . ;)
thank you!
Your accent is intriguing. Massachussets, or is it a mix of Aussie / US??
What company is the liquid glue that comes with the spreader???
Where did you guy the puzzle glue from? I've tried riot art and spotlight and nothin
amazon, michaels, or hobby lobby probably has it
how many pieces?
I have the puzzle glue. I glue puzzles together an frame thm. It’s a hobby of mine. Wht I’m wanting to knw is where u got the exact black foam board(s)? Framing my puzzle takes up to much space on my walls. Would amazon have thm ?
Hey! Sorry for the delay in replying. I got them from Michael's, a local craft store. Amazon has similar products, you're looking for something like Elmers Foam Board Sheets. www.amazon.ca/ELMERS-Pre-Cut-White-Sheets-950020/dp/B00C1JVO4Y/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1529368041&sr=8-4&keywords=foam+board&dpID=51ockav4ABL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
The dollar tree sells them also.
Joann fabrics sells them too
Hello, I have a question not pertaining to the video but thought someone
might be able to help me out. I made a 20x20" wood jigsaw puzzle that
is approximately 1/2" thick, how would I be able to keep the puzzle
together so it can be hung and also taken apart? I appreciate any help,
don't think I can post a pic here but if need be I can send it to
someone. Thank you!
Hi, this is a bit late but if you still need help, you can get a thin shadowbox picture frame at 20”x20” and carefully transfer the puzzle into that. Once the back is in it shouldn’t move but it should be able to be taken apart later.
What's the best glue to get and how much will it cost
What thickness board do you use
Where can I get both Glues? Spray and The clear glue ? ..I'm working on the Last Supper puzzle.
I got these from Michael's in Canada, but you can get them from any craft store, or Amazon.
Did you get the foam boards from a craft store?
where did you buy this puzzle ?
How long did it take finishing the pizza ?
What size boards are they???
Wait, how did it suddenly go from being on the table to being on the foam boards? If I could slide even a thin piece of paper under the puzzle I want to frame I wouldn't need the glue...
Do you complete the puzzle on the boards?
I do. It makes it easy to move as well. If the kids need the kitchen table for food or homework ect. I just pick up the board with what ive got done and put it in my room til the table is free again and i have free time to work on my puzzle again.
I need some urgent support with a jigsaw puzzle, how can I send yo my information or contact you?
I use small pieces of double-sided sticky tape.
I have recently done a Darth Vader jigsaw and I simply flipped the jigsaw over, put Sellotape on the back, sprayed some glue on a board and then placed the jigsaw on the board. It was a lot quicker than doing it like this.
How did you keep it together while doing the liquid glue? I'd like to do the same with a set of jigsaw puzzles that I've been doing during lockdown. These ones a wooden but they move a lot and it's hard to keep it tight together. Any advice?
This is an old comment but I'm doing the same thing currently into wooden jigsaw puzzles and they move around I just wonder did you find any useful tips for them? All I could think to do was push it back into place before the glue sets up... I just glued my first one last night woke up today and most of the edges lifted up 🙄
