I've had a couple of students I taught at my English school that were just like these boys: never left Japan, parents don't speak English, but they talked like kids raised in the US. Just like the three boys, their parents from when their kids weren't even a year old was showing them Disney cartoons every day. Basically English was always a part of their life so it wasn't studying so much as living with it. The current streaming services (NetFlix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, etc) have made this easy for almost any parent in Japan to do. The only obvious weakness was that reading ability lagged listening so if they read out loud they'd mispronounce words that are normally not spoken (like the one child mispronounced "respiration"). The easiest solution to that was to have them start reading books while the audio book for the story was playing, pausing if they needed to look up an unknown word. Also, beyond the fact they were fluent in English, they were like any other Japanese kid with interests and hobbies and wanting to have fun.
May the forth be with you Rupa! And you know, currently there is many materials for learning languages. AI technology too. This is big opportunity for people not only kids. I used only a dictionary book. exciting!
Rupa-sensei, it’s a pleasure to meet you. That vlog made me inspiring a lot because they feel free to manipulate English as well as a native. Surprisingly, although their parents can’t speak English at all, they feel free to use English with their mind. Immersing will be the best way to learn.
I am an American of Japanese Ancestry (AJA) in my 82nd year. I was born and raised in Hawaii for the first 20 years of my life and have lived on the mainland for the other 60+ years. Unfortunately, I did not learn to read, speak, write, or understand Japanese. I am amazed at how these three young boys in this video have taught themselves how to speak excellent English. There would be no way I could teach myself how to speak, write, or understand the Japanese language. I am embarrassed that I did not learn Japanese when I had an opportunity to as a kid. It was about five years after World War II ended, and my mother asked me if I wanted to go to a Japanese school to learn how to speak Japanese. Like the idiot kid I was, I said, "No, I am an American and do not want to learn how to speak Japanese." That was my first huge mistake in life. Hence, I never learned how to speak Japanese. Later on in my career, I was a general manager of a company that manufactured aircraft and other system parts. We had a visit of some Japanese executives to our company. The visiting Japanese executives had an AJA as their interpreter. I had a Caucasian guy who worked for me and who had lived/worked in Japan for seven years previously. He served as my interpreter. It was hilarious that there was this AJA man (i.e., me) who could not communicate with the visiting Japanese executives in their language. I am sure when they got back home to Japan, they had a funny story to tell their coworkers, family, and friends back home about this AJA who could not speak or understand Japanese. I am sure they all had a good laugh about it.
They are nothing special. Take a look at Osaka Naomi or Utada Hikaru. I don't think their parents conversed good English at home even in the USA. The 1st immigrants speak their native languages only at home. All their kids end up speaking English well, however? Because we learn "Native language" through our ears!
There English is ironically way better than this Rupa Sensei dude, no offense. I think it's because he speaks with a very strong accent and its not as clear, so it's hard to understand.

うちの子も今2歳、1年前から英語の歌やディズニー映画を英語言語で見せているけれど、最近やっと成果が出てきたように思う。英語の歌を少し歌えるようになったし、林檎を｢アポー｣、ボールを｢ボｩル｣と定着した。｢yes/no｣「ok」｢here you are｣｢good｣｢very nice｣も言われて理解するようになった。
塾も通わせてないし、ネイティブの人と交流しているわけでもない。youtubeに感謝。
本当は日常的に会話が出来るようになると最強なんだと思う。ただ、私が全く英語が話せないので、私も映画を学んでいるところ。字幕なしで観ると良いんですね。良いこと聞きました。何度も繰り返し観た映画で試してみます。

こちとら物事を習得するのに1000時間かかるって35歳の時しりましたよw
英会話スクールで働いてたので、周りにも熱心にDVD見せたり、英語聞かせてる親たくさんいるけど、子どもたちは全然話せません（笑）２歳くらいになると日本語が定着し英語で見るのを嫌がると言ってました。→検索したら上のお兄ちゃん10歳で英検一級！英語だけじゃなく、政治経済などの理解も入ってくるし、単語もネイティブでも難解なレベル。おそらく頭もかなり良いのかと。
親御さんがお医者さんのようなので地頭の良さが遺伝だと思います

もしくは三男の子がミッキー好きという事からでしょうか?
この子達が日常的に英語で見ているのは具体的にどれなのかがとても気になっています。
ミッキー好きでもディズニーシステムを使っているからではなく、ただ単にディズニーの映画を見たという事もあるだろうし、どうなのかなと思っています。
この子達のチャンネルも見に行って来ましたが、Q&Aで英語の習得方法を答えていましたが、やはり日常に取り入れること、毎日英語を聞く事といったような答えばかりで、具体的な事には触れていませんでした。
もしご存知でしたら是非教えて頂きたいですm(_ _)m

何年か前に彼らを取り上げたニュース？だったかなー。偶然見て、（凄いなー。）と印象に残ってました。あの時は子供が2人だったかな。😊
この時、「Don't copy me.」と言っていて、そのフレーズを覚えました。そのぐらい印象的だったんですよ。みんな素敵な人に成長してますね

なりますよ。耳で発音とか自然に覚えるので。自分も1歳から5歳までアメリカに住んでいましたが今でもネイティブレベルです。

日本人とインタビューしてる時は普通に日本語で喋ってましたし、親と喋る時は日本語で喋ってるそうですよ！あと、普通の公立の学校に通ってるそうなので、普通に喋れないってことは無いと思います！

初めて動画を拝見したのですが、Rupa先生はネイティブの方ではないですよね? adviceという時のストレスポイントがネイティブではなく日本語っぽいアクセントになっていたので気になりました。
自分もそれ気になりました。確かに advice のイントネーションが変でしたよね。にも関わらず、一番最後の advice の発音は普通に出来てましたね。不思議な感じでした。
