What do you think Notre Dame or the german Reichstag is standing on? Concrete? They didnt have that bs back then. They are standing on pile foundations. Nobody needs concrete as it is a pretty bad building material. And for all you uneducated americans - so pretty much the entire country - the piles are hold in place by the means of FRICTION between pile and ground. Do the math, it will hold a s load of weight, just make it longer if needed - even for building in sand, marshes or lakes, just ram piles into the ground.
