110% true!! First time I heard Troyes music 2 years ago I was just getting out of a really toxic relationship with a guy who I thought made me happy and Troyes songs helped me through it all. You have that conversation with them and you’re asking yourself do I love them enough to compromise and sacrifice your own happiness for them because you love them. I feel connected to this song because I’m moving away for university in September and I have people I love which I’m leaving behind if I go. It sounds almost like African tribal music, and I wonder if there is a deeper message: take yourself home means going back to your true roots, which is wild nature, rather than civilization, hence “I’m tired of the city”. Wow, I remember when this song right before the lockdown began because of Covid. And I'd been laid off from my first job. It was too many things happening, but I recall this being a comfort song for me.

Those background vocals and this music style are so powerful and really enhance the message of this song. It sounds almost like African tribal music, and I wonder if there is a deeper message: take yourself home means going back to your true roots, which is wild nature, rather than civilization, hence “I’m tired of the city”. Listening to this song, I can picture all of the human race just running back into the trees, smiles on their faces, finally at peace, taking themselves home.
Now you say that I feel that so much. Like go back go back it's all gone terribly wrong. Feels like our society is going in the wrong direction and everyone has become so disconnected from our origins physically, mentally and spiritually.
