Nice little shake out run. You sounded knackered mate 😅 I'm sure some sleep, a good breakfast and a healthy dose of adrenaline made a difference on race day 👍
Hi Mark, I think I was affected by the virus I started with just after the Christmas tree Parkrun on 21-Dec, it really affected by chest/breathing and it only cleared completely in last day or so. When you see the race video you'll see how hard it was, I filmed throughout the run. Thanks for watching:)
@@blewdigeidfran I’d been suffering with a virus since just before Christmas so this was definitely affecting me. The great thing about being there was how sunny and light it was, it made you feel better😊
Hi Andy, thanks for bringing us along to Nice. Beautiful place. Kudos for doing the shakeout run, not sure I could've done both the 5K and the 10K the next day. 💪 Now that we've tasted the appetizer (shakeout run), we're ready for you to serve the main course (the 10K main event!).
@@RunFreeandStrong I love travelling overseas to race and with the recent extremes in UK weather, it was great to escape and enjoy warmer and sunnier conditions, I’d had a virus too so warmer and dryer helped me recover😊I don’t usually do shakeouts but I do this one because it’s such a great experience✅
Hi Andy. This video interested me very much. I hope we get to see more of the event. I think it's one for the diary. I have just returned from the Valencia 10k.🏴🏃🏻♂️☀️
Hi James, thanks for watching, are you the gent I met at Woodbank Parkrun last year when I was volunteering and you were about to do a HM? There will be a race video later this week, still in production. How was the VLC 10K, was the weather good for you, it was a bit warm for the marathon in December I recall:)
@AndyCliffMTB Correct Andy, I am the gent from Woodbank Parkrun. The HM went well. I found the temperature just right at the beginning of the race (16°c/17°c) whoever near the end of the race the sun was shining on me and it was getting a bit uncomfortable. I'm glad it was a morning race as the temperature reached 23°c in the afternoon. I would definitely do it again. I loved every minute of it. It's a shame that they don't have Parkrun in Spain, that would be a great experience. I'm now getting ready for the Romeo and Juliet HM in Vorona Italy on 16th February which looks fun.
I have come to learn that if a shakeout run doesnt feel rubbish then ive probably done something wrong. They always seem to feel like that for me. Im sure some boffins would be able to explain it, but it is beyond me. Well done for getting it done though Andy!
@@TheRegularRunner I wouldn’t usually do a run the day before an event but it’s such a great overall experience that I just had to do it, such a great place to run, especially in winter😊
It can be really hard to drag yourself out for a shakeout because it feels like you're going to add fatigue to the legs right before a hard effort, but my best races have come after doing a really easy parkrun effort the day before. I will probably do a really light shakeout on friday ahead of Alex Park this week.
Good Luck Andy!! 👏🏻
@@lindalou8308 Thanks Linda, I’ll be releasing the race video later this week😊

@ I've never really gone for the shakeout runs, I usually volunteer at Parkrun before Sunday races:)
