My Dad had three - a C-reg Austin 1800, a G-reg Morris 1800S, and finally a Wolseley 6 with automatic transmission (in 1972, I think). They were great family cars - with two sisters, we needed all the room in the back we could get! The Wolseley was the only one I ever drove, and that was such a long time ago, I don’t remember much about it.
I am 78 years of age and I have, over the years, owned and driven a very wide selection of both british and foreign made cars.I rate the 1800 and 2200 the very best, not perfect no,but all things considered the best.Lovely handling, good reliable engines and acres of room for the occupants.Yes they were wonderful cars.
I've just heard, that these lovely brochures, were printed at COWLEY, OXFORD. Nothing is printed in the U.K. now. The B.B.C. used to have a division, called B.B.C. Enterprises.(don't know whether that exists now). When The Teletubbies first aired, a woman was quite convinced that Teletubbies would make great souvenir toys from the programme. So she approached a firm that made toys. She told them, that if they could make Toy Teletubbies, she would contact the B.B.C., and market them if they agreed. They were delighted. But since then, the B.B.C. never had anything made in the U.K. again. The Teletubbies came from China! So when people here grow up, and can't get jobs, that's WHY.And when the Minimum Wage came out , many firms switched work to other countries - where there's NO minimum wage! So sad. As was mentioned, we used to make great things!

@@quarterlight We used them at the Police Driving School at Devises,Wiltshire in the late 60s early 70s. Very, very underestimated car.
I have owned both the morris and it was the best and most comfortable car ever
Thank you so much for sharing your experience
in 1972 i learnt to drive and got my licence in a 1800 - from what i remember they where quite roomy inside
What a lovely car to learn to drive in - yes that front wheel drive layout really helped the room for passengers
The days before computers, when there were lovely things called BROCHURES!

We're the Austin and Morris 2200's 6 CYLINDER cars, like the WOLSELEY 6?
Yep same engine - 2227cc E series SOHC straight 6.
I had a rather rusty 1800 and liked it. Only lasted a year due to the inability to get an MOT. Not sure about Peter Feltham's good handling.
Thank you for your comment always love peoples first hand real life experiences
