I will never feel as good as I did in this era! Even though it was the worst time in my life. Them two albums absolutely saved me and I don’t know who I would be as a person now without them. Anyways Eternal Sunshine comes out on my birthday so I can’t top that!
Okay but positions has six thirty, west side, nasty, safety net, positions, obvious and POV. Which those songs will ALWAYS be too tier songs in my mind and way better than a lot of music that’s out there. Then obviously the classics of positions and 34+35, that album slaps. Certified bangers on thank u, next would be imagine, needy, fake smile, bad idea, make up, ghostin, in my head, 7 rings and thank u next. Really I like bloodline and NASA but they’re a little cliche to me even though they’re original. Break up with your girlfriend is a banger but for some reason in my mind it’s like a single and not in the era idk why
I think BUWYG came out as the album did and never really got the same push the others did and also sonically sounds a bit different from TU,N in some ways. But yah, Positions really had some hits on it and it’s a shame it never really gets its flowers beyond the singles with general public.
I love Ariana's music and her as an artist and TUN (and SWT) really felt like her coming into her sound and leaving the manufactured pop behind. Ariana seems to not like being perceived by the public? You hardly see her out, we dont see a lot of PR from her, she seems like a homebody etc. Idk if she cares to really chart or dominate a genre ike Taylor Swift for example. A great example is Yes and? it doesnt feel like a big single but she said its her favorite song she wrote and one of her favorites ever and she decided to let that be the lead for this new era. I feel like In My head (which is def about Pete lol) could have been a big song maybe as the 4th single it's a cult favorite on the album anyway.
I think some people just grow apart from the system and being a part of it, they explore different avenues and maybe one day come back to it when they’re ready or never at all (Rihanna)
I do and have always felt though that while yours truly and my everything were very popular, that dangerous woman is what really catapulted ari into the start of super stardom. Dangerous woman was when i really started seeing her everywhere.
Well, Dangerous Woman itself was punctuated by the tragedy of Manchester which really did bring people who were not remotely interested in Ari into the fold. I recall some of my older friends who dismissed her as another ex-Nick star who never even gave her mature music a shot finally caved and listened after that. Particularly around the SWT era. I always felt DW as an era was cursed in that it suffered initially due to Scooter blackballing her first single due to temporarily being fired as her manager.
@EljohnMacaranas i get that and i respect your opinion😊😁. Speaking on her super star status, i was moreso referring to the reach DW had worldwide, not what happened with it in the US
What I find so strange is that, despite being two eras on now, I kind of feel like thank u next just wasn’t that long ago. It’s been 5 years, and I can’t shake the feeling that we’re only just out of it. That probably speaks just to the cultural dominance it had, plus the fact that it was pretty timeless, but I feel like thank u next just hasn’t been out for half a decade. How have I been listening to these songs religiously for so long without realising? Maybe I’m just refusing to let it go.
I think both TUN and 7 Rings had been so dominant in charts (and both sometimes do still come on the radio) to the point they never quite left! I genuinely still feel like parts of 2019 were yesterday either out of a forced sense of nostalgia (since time moved very weird after due to the pandemic) or just a true love of that time period (it’d been a v eventful year for me.) Positions for all of its solidness never quite felt like a proper era to me without a tour or proper promo. I’m hoping Eternal Sunshine actually does follow through.
As much as I dont like Scooter I'm glad he pushed for Ghostin to be on this album because I think it really elevates it artistically... and the song has been helpful to me as well so sharing something so personal might be difficult but it can pay off massively Moral of the story a broken clock is still right twice a day
So true! Scooter definitely pushed his clients to the brink, the stories about Demi, Justin and Ari who were at one point his trifecta of clients make me a bit sad. But Ghostin not coming out would have been a loss artistically for the record and fans at large
Sweetener never yielded a number 1 though, granted NTLTC had two peak Drake songs to contend with but I felt Sweetener Ari image wise never quite permeated the veil of first picture of Ari fans have nowadays. Like most fans would imagine 7 Rings Ari or TU,N Ari before Breathin or like NTLTC
@@EljohnMacaranas Ariana didn't attend that year because she had a disagreement with the Grammys over her performance. She wanted to perform 7 rings and they refused. I think that has a little bit to do with it. She ended up not performing because they didnt let her perform what she wanted. She recently had a leak too of some outros from a song (called 95 million) where she literally says 'f*ck the Grammys" 😭
@@EljohnMacaranas I find all her stuff overrated. Just my opinion though. Mind you I grew up with the Whitney's and Mariah's... Ariana feels so watered down to me in comparison. She is one of the best singers now... but no one can really sing today, or at least cares to. She wastes her talent on songs like 7 Rings, when she should really be making more tracks like Off The Tabel that show off her voice and push her to vocal limits.

I will never feel as good as I did in this era! Even though it was the worst time in my life. Them two albums absolutely saved me and I don’t know who I would be as a person now without them. Anyways Eternal Sunshine comes out on my birthday so I can’t top that!
Aaaah! May Eternal Sunshine and your birthday be amazing!
For me, My Everything era will never be topped 💝
Oh that was a great era omfg
Dangerous woman is hands down top 3
For sure!
ETERNAL SUNSHINE ALBUM OF ARIANA GRANDE ON MARCH 8!!!
We will be seated!
Are you planning on analyzing Sweetener?
Yes! For sure before the upcoming new record!
@EljohnMacaranas ooh I hope you do DW it's personally my favourite of her's
DW will get one eventually! Likely with My Everything
Need more content like this in my life! Just subscribed 💗 love this
Sweetener is coming this weekend!
@@EljohnMacaranas consider me patiently waiting 🤣
Speaking on her super star status, i was moreso referring to the reach DW had worldwide, not what happened with it in the US
“break up with your boyfriend” 😭😭😭
my subconscious
i still will never forgive for thank u next and nfr not winning. makes me so mad. ariana shouldve won all those grammies (scammies)
TU,N not getting a single award is still a shocker to me.
Into you 😍
Literally a pop magnum opus that deserved WAY better.
4:05 “break up with your boyfriend”😭
i’m so gay… like
@@EljohnMacaranasit’s ok so am i
Yaaaas
don’t know if u used the word imperial right but great video
For 2018-19, I do think it’s the closest we’ve gotten (though last year was basically a conventional one for Swift)
I genuinely still feel like parts of 2019 were yesterday either out of a forced sense of nostalgia (since time moved very weird after due to the pandemic) or just a true love of that time period (it’d been a v eventful year for me.)
Positions for all of its solidness never quite felt like a proper era to me without a tour or proper promo. I’m hoping Eternal Sunshine actually does follow through.
Do planet her by doja cat next ❤❤
Doja’s def getting a recap of sorts for sure
Motivation wasn't Normani's debut single tho....
Debut solo single
In my opinion Thank u next it's arianna's best album followed by Dangerous woman
DW really is a solid record like
no mention of positions, her actual best album so far imo :(
This video is about TUN lmao chronologically it’d never be covered
You talked to soon about eternal sunshine it's better than tun although my number 1 album was tun eternal sunshine replaced it😂
Oh from a just music standpoint I’d agree but I need to see the era play out in full first
As much as I dont like Scooter I'm glad he pushed for Ghostin to be on this album because I think it really elevates it artistically... and the song has been helpful to me as well so sharing something so personal might be difficult but it can pay off massively
Moral of the story a broken clock is still right twice a day
So true! Scooter definitely pushed his clients to the brink, the stories about Demi, Justin and Ari who were at one point his trifecta of clients make me a bit sad. But Ghostin not coming out would have been a loss artistically for the record and fans at large
sorry but DW is the one for me
I get that… Martin’s work was next level
Do meghan trainor please all of her albums ❤❤
I may do a video about her career a la Ava’s
not you getting rear ended to needy 😭 me and my friend got rear ended to nasty lmfao
I got side swiped lmaoooo
@@EljohnMacaranas ariana needs to start covering car insurance..
Positions could have also got tun success if got enough promotion. Her team sucks 😭
POV could have been a quick Top 5 hit with longevity but they delayed on it!
I would never understand wtf ariana didn't promote the pov. Wtf that song would have been on charts for so long. No mv. Wtf ariana??
Naw! Sweetener was her “confessions” or imperial era
It was nominated for a Grammy just never won cause they’re stupid! Billie was amazing but she deserved at least one for this record!
She deserved Best Pop Vocal at the very least!
Even Billie knew that, with in one of her acceptance speeches she said that ariana deserved it because TUN was just.... so good
I feel like there was some weird political stuff internally, love Billie but it was weird Ariana got completely snubbed
Technically The Sweetener Era and Thank U Next Era took place at the same time but who cares
A proper Video essay should be 40min at least
a proper video essay should be… ur mom lol
Why is almost everything so overrated today.
The same reason why Marvel movies for a time kept getting away with being mid but making a billion dollars: people crave familiarity and comfort
Just here to say you've done it again. Great job! :) Also liked your chaotic Grammy's video. I'd be into you doing a short form podcast. Something for me to listen to on the train that I don't need reception for or to watch along with. :) Hope you're having a great February
Aaaah thank you so much! I’ll definitely dabble more into it! 🥰🥰🥰
I would never understand wtf ariana didn't promote the pov. Wtf that song would have been on charts for so long. No mv. Wtf ariana??
She did a vevo performance but that’s it 😭
