Was hoping for more discussion about the P-210 and its performance, cabin altitude at 17,500, TAS etc and less conversation about Breaking Bad. Great plane.
@@TakingOff Dan.......That would be great !! I actually have a P-210 but there are always discussions as to the difference between the T-210 and the P-210. Would love to see your comments and John Wingfields. Thanks
I haven't seen the movie you discussed, but typically Class B only goes up to 10,000 MSL, so an approach controller would control that airspace. If the midair in question was above 10,000 MSL, they would have been under center control.
Other than the big iron air-to-air, GA collisions and near misses are not that uncommon. I myself had one (a near miss) in the traffic pattern of an untowered airport. I was in a Cessna 150 and the other person was in a low wing piper. I was also on the bottom and noticed this other aircraft. My instructor and I managed to see and avoid the other aircraft trying to perform a right pattern on a left pattern runway.
What kind of performance were you seeing at 17.5? Read so much about lethargic climb performance on hot days. Stepped climbs and all. Looked like you were climbing out at 500fpm. Great video though! I'm catching up on them because I just recently found you. lol
Thanks Steven! Glad you found us. As far as performance-- that was winter so it was better. But the P210 does have a reputation for being a little underpowered. That particular plane just got their TSIO520R replaced for a 550 stc conversion.
Cool flight. Very nice landing. The older the "kids" get the more I want to see mine (and the grandkids). Is there extra music on this one? I liked it (might've been a little loud but video production is not my thing).
I've used a flight simulator to attempt ramming another aircraft. X-plane is high enough fidelity for you to try this yourself. As engineers, maintainers, and pilots we had all kinds of competitions with sims, and this was one of them. (You get tired of the bombing/shooting comps.) High closure rates and air/control noise make it pretty tough. Use of autopilot is suggested after the planes are statically positioned to collide if you want any level of success. Best to hope for a near miss which MIGHT damage the other aircraft. An ATC, GUIDING two aircraft into collision? Presumably the pilots are thinking about the vectors received and looking from time to time at their ADSB. Actual percentage chance of ATC-guided collision is minuscule before automated anti-collision systems alert pilots and other ATCs that something has gone wrong. We do have a record here in Youtubia of an ATC ground controller who had a stroke while on duty. She became erratic and directed planes onto the active runway, but they simply said, "Uh, that don't sound right." Several phoned the tower, and she was relieved and hospitalized. A lot less drama than TV was hoping for. The ATC impostor on the radio idea is as crazy as the TV notion that every electronic device regardless of its network capability can be wirelessly hacked in 10 seconds and made to explode. A hacked toaster can make some really dark toast, but that's about it. The ATC network used for voice and data is a lot like the internet, but many parts are encrypted, physical intrusion is monitored, unidentified terminals (think MAC filter on your router) are ostracized, AND you would need very intimate knowledge of the datagrams you were trying to spoof (difficult for a single entity due to compartmentalization and would take years and $$$$.) Sorry, but that idea is far less plausible than a real ATC trying to collide planes.
Dan, I have a G500 in my Bonanza. I thought the 600 was for larger twins or turbine planes. It's a great navigation instrument, especially in IFR conditions.
I don't want you to fail, Dan. At the very worst, maybe a 'wardrobe malfunction'. and let's be honest, Christy already took care of that with her sectional yoga pants ;)
Had the privilege of owning a P210 for many years. Enjoyed every minute of flying it.
Nice greaser, Dan! Great flight and discussion as well. Also nice to meet Joseph. 👍🍻

Well my son is much more interested in Breaking Bad than what the P210 can do. 😜
@@TakingOff LOL....I get that. Would love to see more of the P-210 performances. Thanks
Maybe I can go up with John Wingfield in his and get a good rundown of the P210.

I've never really observed a sterile cockpit. I speak for a living and enjoy the conversation/questions.
Spread more info about the 210. I'm very interested in buying one.

It was a shame to see this airplane crashed. Glad everyone walked away. I almost bought this bird before I got mine...

What’s the underlying audio? Is it a movie?
I like the way you, mostly, avoid talking over radio traffic & declaring a sterile cockpit.
So sad to hear that N7361K is crashed.
why you climb with just 24" on manifold?

It was really nice getting to play with the G600.
I live in fort worth, i sure wish he would take me for a flight! That would be so cool
You never know!
Any reason for not flying N4620Y?
Yeah, that was when Lola was in annual.
This is so cool
So who is the bad pilot he references?
At what point in the video?
@@TakingOff 17:45
Oh, yeah, him. No, I'm not going to mention his name. But there's actually several out there that do dangerous/stupid things to try and get views.

LOL!
You must be talking about Jerry who flies a 414. I cringe everytime he flies in weather lol
No kidding
Who was the dangerous guy that he says everyone watches?
Should have an "INOPERATIVE (INOP)" label on the Artificial Horizon.
He did say inop, but showed it on final and it appeared to working. I wonder if he just meant that it was redundant.
socomon69 there do seem to be 2 attitude indicators tho I wonder if they both work.

On the turbo, it really shouldn't.

All that talk about mid airs and not 1 mention of tcas? All the jets have it and would avoid accidents.
Good point
