- THE CENTRAL GOODS AND SERVICES TAX ACT, 2017:
An Act to make a provision for levy and collection of tax on intra-State supply of goods or services or both by the Central Government and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
BE it enacted by Parliament in the Sixty-eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows:
Section 2 (1) “actionable claim” shall have the same meaning as assigned to it in section 3 of the Transfer of Property Act, 1882.

But why did u say "Section 2 clause 1" for this ? Is it not "Section 2 subsection 1".
I am asking this because the hierarchy goes this way
Section : sub-section : clause : sub-clause : explanation : example (if I am not wrong)
U r almost right but in any act section 2 is always read with clause
Let say, (definition of business under GST) Business 2(17) of CGST Act
This is read as , Section 2 clause 17
Hope u understand now.
So when ever u read section 2 u will read with clause not with sub section
