I recently purchased this monitor and now I’m trying to return it, here is why: 1) No aux out - Your only option for external speaker connection is Bluetooth. The problem is every time you turn the monitor off the connection will be lost and when you turn on, you will need to hit “OK” to confirm to reconnect to the speaker. 2) The Monitor lacks standby mode when connected to a PC (or Mac) using USB-C. The monitor will NOT automatically turn on (or wake up) when you move the mouse or tap on the keyboard to wake up the computer. The only way to “wake up” the monitor is to manually turn it on via the remote or joystick button in the back. The same goes for sleep, monitor will NOT be in standby mode, it will show “No signal” screen (like a TV) and you will have to turn the screen off manually. 3) It won’t auto-switch to USC-C input when your PC is waking up from sleep and you are using smart apps or other inputs. You will have to manually switch to USB-C input via remote. Think of this product as a TV in a monitor form factor. It’s a shame LG didn’t bother to do minimum work to make this work well as a monitor as it lacks the most basic monitor functionalities.
Problem 2 has been fixed!!! I believe. I'm not sure if there's a difference between what we're doing. But I have a Windows computer connected via HDMI, and a Mac connected via USB-C Upstream, and they both wake the monitor when I wake the computer. Also, when I turn off or lock the computer, the monitor falls asleep within seconds. I bought it last week so maybe I just got lucky with an update cycle, but these problems seem to be no more.
got this monitor last week , but having issues , every time i turn on it cycles through red , blue , green and white screen . its soo annoying , have you had this issue? happens even when not connected to any device , i have to do a reset or power off and happens again , bit disappointed
Mine did not come with a camera and even in the manual it says it's an optional extra. I think LG put one in for you. I am just wondering what file formats the USB C's support and if there are any differences between the ports. Like, can i put movies on a thumb drive and watch them through the USB C sockets on the back of the TV? Both of my HDMI sockets are in use with my laptop and my TV box. Thank you. Great review. (Just found out mine is rhe 83U not the 85U. Sorry about that.
I have the previous version of this monitor. Tried using a usb to 3.5mm audio jack adapter to get sound from the monitor to my speakers and it didn't work. My computer would only recognize the speakers through USB if they were plugged in directly to the computer, not through he monitor's USB pots.
This is the most detailed video review I’ve watched for this monitor. I’m wondering if it is possible to connect 2 laptops at the same time to the monitor because of the 2 HDMI ports at the back?
Thank you so much for the positive feedback! I have not tried connecting 2 HDMI sources but you can definitely have one HDMI and one USB-C connected and can switch between the two sources.
There are basic things you can do with just the monitor itself like browsing the web, check email and stream. But you do need a computer for everything else.
Hi, I’ve seen comments that the built-in webcam works for the built in apps but not for Teams / Zoom etc for a connected PC / laptop. Can you please confirm whether that’s correct? I wondered whether those who have had that problem had connected their computer via HDMI (which would not work).
i am told that a type C USB cable connected to the first slot on monitor to laptop should work, i bought the cable but still not working, lets see what the technician says, will keep you posted
I can confirm with a thunderbolt 4 cable plugged into the first port that the webcam works (just don't forget to remove the film covering the connecters for the webcam and monitor)
@@rfkefendi5161 Yes the camera is detected by my macbook and used by Zoom, Facetime etc. Comes up as LG Smart Cam, not bad quality. You need to use a USB C 3.2 cable.

I swapped out the Samsung for the LG and I’m pleased. The GUI is much better than Samsungs mess. The LG is a good all rounder using it for my iPad m4, MacBook Air M3 in clamshell mode and my PS5. Only weird thing is the UK/EU model has the camera interface on the rear but is not included as confirmed by LG support. It’s probably violating some odd EU requirement.
